The first novel in the series was released on January 29, 2007, and as of January 29, 2011, a total of twelve volumes have been published by Enterbrain under their Famitsu Bunko publishing imprint. A manga adaptation by Mosuke Mattaku started serialization in the manga magazine Shōnen Ace on April 25, 2009. Another manga adaptation by namo started serialization in the male-oriented web comic magazine Famitsu Comic Clear on October 30, 2009. An anime adaptation by Media Factory was announced the same month. A promotional trailer was released for streaming in August 2009. An anime series adaptation began airing on January 7, 2010. Funimation has licensed the anime for release in the United States under the title ''Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts''. The second season began airing in July 2011.

==Story Synopsis==
The protagonist is a guy who is among the stupidest of the stupidest in the school. In this school, your grades can be over the score of 100. If you leave an examination partway, you get a score of zero. A bright and cute girl, Himeji Mizuki, had a high fever during the examination. Despite her potential to be the second-highest scorer in her year, she obtained a zero for having left due to her illness and is thus allocated to the worst class, Class F.

Grades mean almost everything. Class A, taught by a smart-looking teacher, uses a plasma TV the size of an entire wall as their blackboard, personal laptops, personal air conditioners, refrigerators, adjustable seats, and all kinds of different appliances. Within the refrigerator are all kinds of drinks and snacks. Their ceiling is made of glass, and the walls allow them to hang up high-class drawings and plants.

As for Class F, the worst class... they have Japanese desks and seat paddings. Their blackboard is filthy and even lacks chalk! When someone complains that the leggings of his desk is broken, the teacher responds, "Didn't we distribute some glue to stick wood together? Glue it back yourself later." Another student complains that wind blows through a broken window in the classroom. The teacher replies, "Understood. I will apply for plastic bags and invisible glue to fix it later." With spider webs everywhere, not a patch of the wall is clean. A unique moldy smell spreads across the entire room from the old tatamis used to tile the floor. This is the status of Class F.

The protagonist feels displeased with this arrangement, and seeks help from his friends to try to make a change through an Exam Summoning War!! Together, they devise all kinds of strategies to try to beat the famous Class A, intending to earn Class A's classroom and equipment if they win!!

==Kenji Inoue==
Born in Tokyo, but grew up in Sapporo. Love the Kinoshita Hideyoshi drawn by Yui Haga sensei. Parents and friends around me didn't know anything when the first novel was published. Became famous in company in one day because the supervisor complained "Couldn't understand the Japanese written by Inoue". Therefore until now, I still don't dare to claim that I am a writer even though I had won an award. This novel won the 8th Entame Award editor special prize because the judge didn't read carefully.

Ombapho: Hey there. I am ombapho from Fate/Zero translation project, since Zero has already finished so I took a peek at Baka to Test. Found that the e-book quality is not... so much in my favor (sorry very much to someone who has made it), so I made my own version of e-book. It covers both on the normal read PDF or booklet PDF for printing. The minus is that the e-book is still pageless. Thanks. Hope this helps

According to the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fate/Zero Wikipedia Page] there is another volume due out on March 31st. Even if this never becomes part of the project, it might impact the formatting of the main page. Plus I'd like to include it in the Series Overview section for completeness...

I'm familiar with the Fate/Stay storyline (via the Anime) but not this particular storyline, so I can't write a synopsis for it :)

Also, and I know I'm probably being a pain about this, but the Beast's Lair people should agree on some rules for how this project is going to be laid out. I've put a link to the general Baka-Tsuki format guideline and proceeded to format the page accordingly, but you guys are free to make up whatever rules you want! The Fuyuki Wiki has been down for quite some time now. The [http://web.archive.org/web/20070511032215/fuyuki.pbwiki.com webarchive], generally used as an alternative after the original Fuyuki Wiki went down, is also down at this time :( I don't know if it'll go back up...but if it doesn't, I hope someone out there has a cache of it somewhere in their pockets or something.

Is it possible that you could edit the texts found on each Servant's status at the third volume? I find it a loss if they were left out since readers can know better the Servants through it, much like how we know the background of the Servants in the game.

I wanna give a little contribution for all super-duper high efforts of translators in my long awaited project of Fate/Zero

Yep, don't compare this with the great works of the translators, this is just a simple crap if compared to them...

I've spent some of my free time to translate the status page of Fate Zero Characters

To be noted first, I have no background and knowledge of Japanese language (don't even mention Kanji, even Hiragana and Katakana is still forgetful)

All of the status page has been translated with cross check material from a lot of sources.

If anyone want to improve the quality or change it with better translation, feel free to do so.

Final note: Don't be surprised to find several facts different from what you know. I am also surprised to find one fact (from a lot of) that in Fate/Zero, Excalibur is an anti-personnel NP, not an anti-castle NP, as being described in VN or type-moon.

According to the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fate/Zero Wikipedia Page] there is another volume due out on March 31st. Even if this never becomes part of the project, it might impact the formatting of the main page. Plus I'd like to include it in the Series Overview section for completeness...

I'm familiar with the Fate/Stay storyline (via the Anime) but not this particular storyline, so I can't write a synopsis for it :)

Also, and I know I'm probably being a pain about this, but the Beast's Lair people should agree on some rules for how this project is going to be laid out. I've put a link to the general Baka-Tsuki format guideline and proceeded to format the page accordingly, but you guys are free to make up whatever rules you want! The [http://web.archive.org/web/20070511032215/fuyuki.pbwiki.com webarchive], generally used as an alternative after the original Fuyuki Wiki went down, is also down at this time :( I don't know if it'll go back up...but if it doesn't, I hope someone out there has a cache of it somewhere in their pockets or something.

Yet my concern for this moment is..

Is it possible that you could edit the texts found on each Servant's status at the third volume? I find it a loss if they were left out since readers can know better the Servants through it, much like how we know the background of the Servants in the game.

I wanna give a little contribution for all super-duper high efforts of translators in my long awaited project of Fate/Zero

Yep, don't compare this with the great works of the translators, this is just a simple crap if compared to them...

I've spent some of my free time to translate the status page of Fate Zero Characters

To be noted first, I have no background and knowledge of Japanese language (don't even mention Kanji, even Hiragana and Katakana is still forgetful)

There are still some parts I left the way it is due to lack of knowledge and imagination to translate (hehehe), mostly on the Character Skills and Class Skill, but I took effort to translate all of Noble Phantasms cause personally, that's the most important for me.

If anyone wnat to continue my work to translate the rest, feel free to do so, and hopefully, from time to time, I will update it through further research and help from my friends who understand Japanese better than I do.

So to comprise for my lack of knowledge, mostly I take the translated text from some sources such as:
Type-Moon Wikia and
Fate Stay Night Translated Mirror Moon VN Status Page
