Just a question. Why is the wording/spacing in this series so awkward? For the first two sentences, it'd flow much more smoothly by combining the two. Is a horrible pun on 私立かがやき高校 from TokiMemo.

私立 (Private [lit: based on the private/self] contrast to 公立・国立 (public, lit: based on public; based/foundation on nation]
かがやき高校 - Kagayagi (shining; name of the city kagayaki-shi)
Thus: 海立 = based on the sea; =~ Marine

光辉 - means kagayaki, just to drive in the TokiMemo reference further.
This is a name, and probably shoulden't be translated at all.
Don't know if there was furigana on the original; but I would simply translate at Kirameki to force the reference.

So instead of Kirameki Private School; --- Kirameki Marine School

== Narrative Tense ==

I've been editing the script for ~5 minutes now, and wanted to voice a few concerns/inquiries. <br />
1. The tense for the narrative right now varies, but a lot of it seems to be present tense. However, Baka-Tsuki wishes for it's narrative to be placed mainly in the past tense. Is the tense present on purpose, or is that just due to translation?<br />
2. Is it okay for me to delete some non-noun/verb words to improve the flow of the script?<br />
3. Is there an IRC-type system that I can use to get in touch with the translators/editors/Project Manager faster? The "Discussion" page seems rather chatboard-y, and I was looking for something along the lines of an IM or PM system.<br />

Check the Tokyo Ravens JP raw contents table before changing chapter titles. It is unnecessary to change what was written in "engrish" aka katakana. :I generally open up the Chinese text, my text editor, and Google Translate all at once. Basically I just read through the Chinese text while typing the English translation into my editor, going to Google Translate for certain phrases if necessary. When I encounter a tough phrase or proper nouns, I generally open up new tabs to Google things. When I'm finished with a chapter, I use Microsoft Word to spellcheck it. ==Definition of Machine Translations==

This is a general guideline for ~Preview~ scripts submitted using machine translations:

Scripts employing this method are not unwelcome, but are restricted to guidelines and unfortunately cannot be submitted as "official" scripts.

We can only allow machine translated scripts to be presented as ~Preview~ scripts. This is due to the consensus of the wiki-communist state of Baka-Tsuki concluding that the quality of machine translation has yet to rival human translators. The representation of machine translation should not be acknowledged as "official" scripts to risk Baka-Tsuki's reputation upon.

However, with the improvement of software and technology, Baka-Tsuki is hopeful that the quality of machine translations will improve and that we should not dismiss this method of translation. The current generation of machine translators are still useful for helping human translators reference and give a general idea of the layout and/or to help translate bulk parts of text.

The best machine translator we have currently reviewed is called "[http://www.fujitsu.com/global/products/software/packaged-software/translation/ Atlas]". We encourage all contributors who wish to help using machine translation to use this current engine.

While other software and "online" translators are not dismissed, please be aware that they have less of an ability to translate the correct context of a script compared to "Atlas".

They will, as mentioned in the first sentence, require a lot of editing as the general context of the dialog and background may be severely damaged by the engine's translation.

Editors are advised to seek human translator consultancy over these machine translations to review/conduct a general analysis for integrity and contextual coherency within the volume/series.

Authors using Machine Translated Scripts are advised to take the following actions:

1) Post machine translated scripts on the [http://www.baka-tsuki.org/forums/ Forum] for examination.
