After class the next day, Ochibane Ame walked into Jyuu's classroom without any reservation.

Coming up right to his seat, she spoke to Jyuu, who was packing to go home.

“I came to pick you up.”

“Heyo.”

Carrying the flimsy school bag under his arm, Jyuu gave two short nods of his head.

Seeing this, Miya pointed to and from Jyuu and Ame and tilted her head slightly.

“What's your relationship?”

“A master-servant relationship.”

“Just friends.”

Thinking it'd be too risky to let the conversation go on too long, Jyuu pulled Miya and Ame apart.

It was only natural that Miya was curious, but he didn't feel like explaining in the slightest.

How was he supposed to explain it in the first place anyway?

It was just a mish-mash of things happening, reaping what he sowed and getting his just desserts.

“Wait, Jyuuzawa!”

Fujishima Kanako, the class representative, closed in on Jyuu in a brisk pace.

One hand was set on her waist, and the eyes behind her glasses were narrowed.

“I thought you'd turned a new leaf after you dyed your hair again, but now you're taking girls into classrooms...!”

“Please wait a moment.”

Before Jyuu could respond, Ochibana Ame stepped in front of Fujishima Kanako.

As though she was protecting Jyuu.

“Are you Jyuu-sama's enemy?”

“'-Sama'? 'Enemy'? What do you mean? But more importantly, it's not that appropriate to associate with guys like him.”

“How so?”

“You're asking how...? Well, you'll be judged for it.”

“If it's for Jyuu-sama's sake, I'd willing to brave the flames of Hell.”

“Y-you...”

“Jyuu-sama's happiness is my happiness. Jyuu-sama's wishes are my wishes. I exist purely for the sake of Jyuu-sama. And the reason for that is because of the strong bond with Jyuu-sama in our past life...”

To prevent the conversation from straying into a really bad direction, Jyuu frantically clamped a hand over Ame's mouth and dragged her away.

“Bye, Fujishima. See ya tomorrow too, Miya.”

Bathed in the curious gazes of his classmates, Jyuu left the classroom together with Ame.
Not for Jyuu, but for Ame. Ame would eventually get bored. Bored by the dullness of a youth named Jyuuzawa Jyuu.

That’s what Jyuu thought.

So this was the sort of friendship that would not last too long.

He was worried that her behavior would be noticeable, but surprisingly, it wasn’t. After leaving school, there was no one paying attention to Jyuu and the other students, and the atmosphere was calm and peaceful.

Now that the incident with Ochibana Ame was all taken care of, Jyuu wondered for a moment if he should dye his hair again, but decided against it. It seemed awkward to change the color of his hair for that reason.

Ihara and the rest of the upperclassmen hadn’t said a word since then. They seemed to think that the incident was a trap set by Jyuu. The fact that their focus shifted from revenge to avoidance was both pitiable and gratifying. They now avoided him to the extent that they would not even make eye contact with him if they encountered him in or out of school.

As he walked to the train station, Ame was walking at a discrete distance behind Jyuu, but she didn't say a word. Perhaps she was just quiet by nature, or maybe she just didn't have a topic to talk about, or maybe she was waiting for Jyuu to speak, or maybe she was just thinking about something. It was hard to know exactly what kind of person Ochibana Ame was just from the information Miya had shared with him.

She was not a bad person, though.

But she was a nutcase, that's for sure.

She was an existence that was impossible to deal with.

The two rode the train without exchanging any words and got off at the same station.

Jyuu suspected that she was just following him, but she told him that she lived rather close by. She did. The address Ame had told Ju was not exactly familiar to him, but it was a quiet neighborhood nearby.

Just like Jyuu, it seemed that Ame also lived in the same area.

That means that they may have seen each other on the street some time before....

He searched his memory, but he still couldn't recall it. Jyuu could often remember a man's face, but he had a tendency to forget a woman's face unless it was very attractive. Still, to this day, he couldn't seem to recall the
faces of any of the female students except for Miya, Ame, and Kanako.

The names and faces barely matched.

The fact it turned out they lived in the same area as each other eased some of Jyuu's tension.

While he allowed Ame to remain alongside him, it didn’t mean Jyuu was going to pay her any mind. If she wished to stay, she could stay. If she wished to stay, she could stay.

Being around Jyuu would neither be good or bad for Ame.

And besides, it was bound to get old sooner or later.

Not for Jyuu, but for Ame. Ame would eventually get bored. Bored by the dullness of a youth named Jyuuzawa Jyuu.

Jyuu acknowledged that Ame was on his side, but that didn’t mean he was going to care for her. It was only a matter of time that she’d go away.

Being around Jyuu would neither be good or bad for Ame.

And, surely it would get tiresome sooner or later.

Not for Jyuu, but for Ame.

Ame would get bored. Bored of a youth named Jyuuzawa Juu.

That’s what Jyuu thought.

So this was a friendship that would not last too long.

He was worried that the behavior of his female companion would be noticeable, but surprisingly, it wasn't.

Aside from the school, there was no one paying attention to Jyuu and his friend after they left the school, and the atmosphere was calm and peaceful. Now he was so often avoided by them that he wouldn't even look at them if he met them in or out of school.

On the way to the train station, Ame walked obliquely behind Jyuu, but he didn’t say a word.

Jyuu acknowledged that Ame was on his side, but that didn’t mean he was going to care for her. It was only a matter of time that she’d go away.

Being around Jyuu would neither be positive or negative for Ame.

And, surely it would get tiresome sooner or later.

Not for Jyuu, but for Ame.

Ame would get bored. To the boredom of a youth named Jyuuzawa Juu. That’s what Jyuu thought.
