Ok so I just wanted to get this straight before I set off. First, notify the lead person on the project that I'm going to join and see if they're ok with that. Hi, about your edit on Papa-kiki, sako senpai replied to Yuuta, "this evening you are incredibly courteous" after Yuuta insults him about his mom doing his shopping for him. Sako Senpai is being sarcastic when he says that, but if that wasn't easily seen, then I've made a poor word choice. "This evening your being incredibly kind" is also possible... should I make a TL to let people know its sarcasm? (the insult is also the reason Yuuta say's sorry in the next line). I know its hard to just get because Sako senpai puts on the front in the book of I'm not going to fall to your level when being insulted so (hypocrite right?) so he maintains a mature front with his veiled sarcasm. These things is often easily misunderstood and meaning can be changed unneccessarily, that's why I appreciate you asking about it. Also the reason I so often get angry at people changing the meanings :P. Crap sorry about the unnecessary edits in Antimagic, especially the incom thingy. I was editing based on what I usually read from other translations. For example, the original translation said income, so I am guessing the translator meant incom, which is more of used in military translation rather than intercom which can have multiple meanings. Thanks Dual Blades! Yeah has/had really confuses me, I had to keep looking up online because it often sounded 'weird' and I kept going over those lines. I've been following Antimagic so yeah read all the prev volumes -

that Uuu thing - I guess that's a question to Krytyk and you lol - the uuu is twice - and I saw Krytyk sometimes wrote lines twice - so I was wondering if that was a duplicate. (<someone>: UUuu. President: Uuu. Takeru: Dont use that Uuu with me) Who is saying the first Uuu if the SC president is saying the 2nd Uuu? EDIT: Krytyk fixed it, yup it was duplicate :)

Grammar questions about some of the fixes you undid:
* As he took Tyrving which emitted dim light, and made a request to Lapis.
** -> shouldn't 'As he' be followed by 'he'? 'and' sounded weird. (As he painted the wall, he drank some water vs As he painted the wall, he drink some water)
* However it was just the opposite, in the middle of Reima's attack Takeru had regain composure.
** -> shouldn't had (past perfect) be followed by the past participle of the verb associated with it? (Amidst the confusion, 'I had ran away' from the scene vs 'I had run away')

Ah I see why you did that. In English double negative is for 'not' but it doesn't apply to 'had' and the following verb. That's just the way past perfect is, so every time you use had you must use the past participle of the verb instead of the present. It's not counted as double negative.

Same thing with the past tense questions. 'How did you managed' generally is not acceptable. Same thing with 'How could you do this' (not 'How could you did this') and same with 'How would you do that' (not 'How would you did that') - you cannot put a past tense because in this case it'll be a double past tense. That's the problem with English, you cannot just look word-by-word and decide which tense to use but you must read the whole sentence and decide which tense to use on each verb.

The links I gave above showed examples how are they used - just wanted to show you the reasoning behind my changes - those are stuff I learned back in primary school so it's been a while for me also, more than 15 years ago, but those rules are the iron-clad rules in English grammar that I learned first when I took English course~ (Just like basic rules in Japanese grammar)

Crap sorry about the unnecessary edits in Antimagic, especially the incom thingy. I was editing based on what I usually read from other translations. For example, the original translation said income, so I am guessing the translator meant incom, which is more of used in military translation rather than intercom which can have multiple meanings. * As he took Tyrving which emitted dim light, and made a request to Lapis.
** -> shouldn't 'As he' be followed by 'he'? 'and' sounded weird. (As he painted the wall, he drank some water vs As he painted the wall, he drink some water)
* However it was just the opposite, in the middle of Reima's attack Takeru had regain composure.
** -> shouldn't had (past perfect) be followed by the past participle of the verb associated with it? (Amidst the confusion, 'I had ran away' from the scene vs 'I had run away')

Ah I see why you did that. In English double negative is for 'not' but it doesn't apply to 'had' and the following verb. That's just the way past perfect is, so every time you use had you must use the past participle of the verb instead of the present. It's not counted as double negative.

Same thing with the past tense questions. 'How did you managed' generally is not acceptable. Same thing with 'How could you do this' (not 'How could you did this') and same with 'How would you do that' (not 'How would you did that') - you cannot put a past tense because in this case it'll be a double past tense. That's the problem with English, you cannot just look word-by-word and decide which tense to use but you must read the whole sentence and decide which tense to use on each verb.

The links I gave above showed examples how are they used - just wanted to show you the reasoning behind my changes - those are stuff I learned back in primary school so it's been a while for me also, more than 15 years ago, but those rules are the iron-clad rules in English grammar that I learned first when I took English course~ (Just like basic rules in Japanese grammar)

*I think part of this discussion is resulting from differing perspectives of what the role of "project manager" is. While one aspect is to coordinate with people interested in joining, a major part of the role is control over translation details as a protection for the first translator; in the discussions to create the guidelines, it was a compromise to a translator wanting to control a project they started and BT remaining open to other contributions in general. From my perspective, the project manager title isn't necessary to help with a project or try to find translators, and allowing someone else to take it would be voiding the position as a protection for a new translator.

:I don't want to discourage anyone from helping around BT; there are certainly always things to do. But from my perspective, it's not really an issue of qualifications, history on BT, or anything like that, the "project manager" title just wouldn't actually help you do anything that you can't do now, and it would be removing something that a new translator joining may want. If I change the volume to be Volume 1 under short stories as it is labeled in Japan, wouldn't the illustrations become wacky from Volume 9 onward? I say this because we have been continuing with labeling the volumes with the short stories being Volume 9 when it should be the next main story that should be labeled volume 9. Like you said, I've planning on just moving them, although I have no clue how to name the volume since I assume putting Volume 1 in the front will conflict with the Volume 1 of the main story. You are not mistaken that I have not contributed translation-wise on any project, Baka-Tsuki or otherwise. But I have contributed to many management projects in the past, mostly in real life at actual management careers as well as online. For the specifics you request, however, I don't fulfill those.

Be that as it may, I am still interested in, at least, pulling this series from the dark pit of idle where its rested for over a year, searching for translators far better than me to fulfill these roles. If you're interested in that enough to shrug off some requirements in favor of experience, you are welcome to go either way. I'm simply offering my services for a project I would like to see continue.

My name is Muhamad from Malaysia. I'm currently studying undergraduate in United Kingdom.
During my spare time, I used to read Light Novels (LN) from Baka-Tsuki (BT) and my Japanese friend, who is in the same universities. I do enjoy reading both original and English-translated LN.

Then, he said to me: 'Why not translating them into your Own Language (Malay)?" And here I am, quite to afraid to suggest it beforehand.

Therefore, I would like to request your permission, and your approval to add another language-translated LN, that is Malay.

I know this is something new, but I would like to try it by means of translating it to my native language.
If possible, I would like to found this new project, so that people from my country and those who can read Malay appreciate more stories in LN by means of Malay language.

Some don't list subtitles in japanese, or some extra list the page count, other have totally different formats of date. The way the brackets or dashes are put are different from project to project. While I'd say format unification is a generally a good thing, I don't think it's an urgent item. To implement this as a rule/guideline, it should probably be raised for discussion in the forums. And then after discussion (aka the thread sits there for a week or two without anyone posting), it could be accepted as a new rule/guideline. I did the same for DanMachi, StB, Mahouka, and Durarara!!. Tate and Seraph aren't locked as of now, so I left those as is. Index was already editable through Template:Toaru:Series_Overview. For the projects not in abandoned on the sidebar, they will be moved out of the project categories and into the sidebar once all the translations on the pages are deleted, which should be no later than 2 months before the first English publication. In Tate's case I don't think there's yet a consensus on what to do, so I can't say what will happen. Excuse me, I think there is some uploading mistakes with the light novel "Clockwork Planet". I have been an avid follower of this light novel translation and you should be aware that what has been recently uploaded is not clockwork planet. First off the translator of this light novel has not uploaded translations for volume 3 yet on his website http://hellping.org/. However, the recent translations are supposedly from the third volume. Second, the style is completely different from the "Clockwork Planet" novel (even when accounting for a different translator). The supposed chapters are much to short for "Clockwork Planet" and after the first chapter none of the main characters are even mentioned. I am glad that you are adding "Clockwork Planet". That said, I believe everyone wants the correct version up. Again, you can find the translated version of "Clockwork Planet at http://hellping.org/. There should be two complete volumes there. I hope this helps.

== Permission to view web novel postings on Forum, Major concerns. ==

My name is john34404 on both parts of the site and I want access to the web novels section on the forums. This is due to me adding evil god average, xin Ni (still not sure if its a web novel or light novel), and Dragon life to the listings.

With the new rulings on Web Novels I will need to ask additional permissions from not only the translators, but also to the baka-staff. This is due to the current translation projects currently being done usually will be dropped (Whole sites even) if the site receives no hits for the project.

I understand that it would be more convenient for baka-tsuki to host the projects, especially for the app, but a small revision to where currently translating projects have a wait/separation time until the text version is needed for the site would be better for baka-tsuki due to the willingness of access from translators.

It will be a lot easier getting permission for completed sections (or whole works) than it would be for the most current text of a currently translating work.

If the translators get no gain/feedback from this site they will just not give this site permissions to works and this site will likely become very small or unused. *Yes, you can add links as long as your site doesn't break any of rules for externals ([[Baka-Tsuki:External_Contributor_Rules#General_Rules|link]]); for example, as long as the site isn't engaged in commercial activity (take "donations" for the translation), and doesn't host Italian projects for novel series that are licensed/released by an Italian publisher. When making the page, just follow the general format of other projects. I have monitored the [[Papa no Iu Koto o Kikinasai!]] project for over a year and it's been at my attention that the current Project Manager, [[User:Onizuka-gto|Onizuka-GTO]], has not been around the PapaKiki project for some time. I've done a little research and I've noted that he hasn't responded to requests on his talk page on if the PapaKiki project has been abandoned or not. I understand being a head of Baka Tsuki is a big time commitment, so I can understand how this could have happened.

There are contributors who wish to translate but would like some guidance/assistance on how to go about their roles. There are some who don't want to step on any toes and don't wish to start translating until receiving the OK.

During my spare time, I used to read Light Novels (LN) from Baka-Tsuki (BT) and my Japanese friend, who is in the same universities. I do enjoy reading both original and English-translated LN.

Then, he said to me: 'Why not translating them into your Own Language (Malay)?" And here I am, quite to afraid to suggest it beforehand.

I know this is something new, but I would like to try it by means of translating it to my native language.

While I'd say format unification is a generally a good thing, I don't think it's an urgent item. To implement this as a rule/guideline, it should probably be raised for discussion in the forums. Dear Administrators, There has been a lot of spam articles in the recent changes section as of late. Ranging from losing weight to getting various discounts, several things are being advertised. To frank, I don't want to read these kind of things on this site. It also appears that the same articles are being uploaded multiple times each day. It is so bad that the light novel updates I want to read/check are getting buried and hard to find. I am sorry if you didn't want me to tell you about this in this section, but I thought you should know about this issue. I did the same for DanMachi, StB, Mahouka, and Durarara!!. Tate and Seraph aren't locked as of now, so I left those as is. Index was already editable through Template:Toaru:Series_Overview. For the projects not in abandoned on the sidebar, they will be moved out of the project categories and into the sidebar once all the translations on the pages are deleted, which should be no later than 2 months before the first English publication. In Tate's case I don't think there's yet a consensus on what to do, so I can't say what will happen. Excuse me, I think there is some uploading mistakes with the light novel "Clockwork Planet". I have been an avid follower of this light novel translation and you should be aware that what has been recently uploaded is not clockwork planet. First off the translator of this light novel has not uploaded translations for volume 3 yet on his website http://hellping.org/. However, the recent translations are supposedly from the third volume. Second, the style is completely different from the "Clockwork Planet" novel (even when accounting for a different translator). The supposed chapters are much to short for "Clockwork Planet" and after the first chapter none of the main characters are even mentioned. I am glad that you are adding "Clockwork Planet". That said, I believe everyone wants the correct version up. Again, you can find the translated version of "Clockwork Planet at http://hellping.org/. There should be two complete volumes there. I hope this helps.

== Permission to view web novel postings on Forum, Major concerns. ==

My name is john34404 on both parts of the site and I want access to the web novels section on the forums. This is due to me adding evil god average, xin Ni (still not sure if its a web novel or light novel), and Dragon life to the listings.

With the new rulings on Web Novels I will need to ask additional permissions from not only the translators, but also to the baka-staff. This is due to the current translation projects currently being done usually will be dropped (Whole sites even) if the site receives no hits for the project.

I understand that it would be more convenient for baka-tsuki to host the projects, especially for the app, but a small revision to where currently translating projects have a wait/separation time until the text version is needed for the site would be better for baka-tsuki due to the willingness of access from translators.

It will be a lot easier getting permission for completed sections (or whole works) than it would be for the most current text of a currently translating work.

If the translators get no gain/feedback from this site they will just not give this site permissions to works and this site will likely become very small or unused. *Yes, you can add links as long as your site doesn't break any of rules for externals ([[Baka-Tsuki:External_Contributor_Rules#General_Rules|link]]); for example, as long as the site isn't engaged in commercial activity (take "donations" for the translation), and doesn't host Italian projects for novel series that are licensed/released by an Italian publisher. When making the page, just follow the general format of other projects. While I'd say format unification is a generally a good thing, I don't think it's an urgent item. To implement this as a rule/guideline, it should probably be raised for discussion in the forums. And then after discussion (aka the thread sits there for a week or two without anyone posting), it could be accepted as a new rule/guideline. I did the same for DanMachi, StB, Mahouka, and Durarara!!. Tate and Seraph aren't locked as of now, so I left those as is. Index was already editable through Template:Toaru:Series_Overview. For the projects not in abandoned on the sidebar, they will be moved out of the project categories and into the sidebar once all the translations on the pages are deleted, which should be no later than 2 months before the first English publication. In Tate's case I don't think there's yet a consensus on what to do, so I can't say what will happen. Excuse me, I think there is some uploading mistakes with the light novel "Clockwork Planet". I have been an avid follower of this light novel translation and you should be aware that what has been recently uploaded is not clockwork planet. First off the translator of this light novel has not uploaded translations for volume 3 yet on his website http://hellping.org/. However, the recent translations are supposedly from the third volume. Second, the style is completely different from the "Clockwork Planet" novel (even when accounting for a different translator). The supposed chapters are much to short for "Clockwork Planet" and after the first chapter none of the main characters are even mentioned. I am glad that you are adding "Clockwork Planet". That said, I believe everyone wants the correct version up. Again, you can find the translated version of "Clockwork Planet at http://hellping.org/. There should be two complete volumes there. I hope this helps.

== Permission to view web novel postings on Forum, Major concerns. ==

My name is john34404 on both parts of the site and I want access to the web novels section on the forums. This is due to me adding evil god average, xin Ni (still not sure if its a web novel or light novel), and Dragon life to the listings.

With the new rulings on Web Novels I will need to ask additional permissions from not only the translators, but also to the baka-staff. This is due to the current translation projects currently being done usually will be dropped (Whole sites even) if the site receives no hits for the project.

I understand that it would be more convenient for baka-tsuki to host the projects, especially for the app, but a small revision to where currently translating projects have a wait/separation time until the text version is needed for the site would be better for baka-tsuki due to the willingness of access from translators.

It will be a lot easier getting permission for completed sections (or whole works) than it would be for the most current text of a currently translating work.

If the translators get no gain/feedback from this site they will just not give this site permissions to works and this site will likely become very small or unused. *Yes, you can add links as long as your site doesn't break any of rules for externals ([[Baka-Tsuki:External_Contributor_Rules#General_Rules|link]]); for example, as long as the site isn't engaged in commercial activity (take "donations" for the translation), and doesn't host Italian projects for novel series that are licensed/released by an Italian publisher. When making the page, just follow the general format of other projects.
