Hi Mister Cloudi, about the novel of Shen Yin Wang Zuo http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=User_talk:Totokkk#Divine_Throne, it is actually also a light novel, http://www.yesasia.com/global/shen-yin-wang-zuo-series/1030322309-0-0-0-en/list.html and I decided to order it for translating (instead of the web version), so I changed the classif from webnovel to light novel. Would it be okay for it to be thus approved as a project in bakatsuki?

I'm Darkoneko, one of the "usually inactive" custodians of this wiki. I'm kinda allergic to forums and generally prefer to laze in a corner of our IRC channel, so you might not have heard of me before. Either way, sorry for the late introduction.

I've started with a few people a great revamping of the category system. It was pointed to me that you had similar projects in mind, so I'm there to enlist your help :)

One of my goals is to easily allow readers to search novels by name, publisher, language, genre, and status (finished/active/stalled...). For that purpose, a list of categories will be listed in the sidebar instead of the current enormous and unreadable list.

Here's what has been done / on track :
[[:Category:Root]] : the Root of all <s>evil</s> categories.
*[[:category:Author]] : each author has his/her own category, which contain the main page of each of their novels (so far it's always the english version)
*[[:category:Light novel]] : each language has its own subcategory to allow easy search by language.
*[[:category:Original novel]] : for the few we host. They're all in english so no need for subcats.

*[[:Category:Project status]] : maintenance category. Most subcats already existed.

We are in dire need of title standardisation, so your proposal on [http://www.baka-tsuki.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=8839 there] interests me. Tho, the problem is what to use as the initial title. In your exemple, everything takes for base the english title (A simple survey) rather than the japanese one, which strikes me as weird. But translators might not like any change on that :)

The short answer is yes, I'm planning to finish it...but I'm best at working in bursts of inspiration, and usually stick to them--a terrible work ethic, I know--so unfortunately, I'm not very confident that it actually will be done. I'll try to bump it up on my priority list though. Thanks for the vote of confidence.

As for SimpleNav, it's been designed with the wiki's naming convention in mind, so its automated system should work as long as that convention holds (i.e. LIGHT NOVEL:VolumeX ChapterY and LIGHT NOVEL:VolumeZ, or LIGHT NOVEL:Volume X Chapter Y and LIGHT NOVEL:Volume Z). Presuming that at the very least, the ending chapter is noted in the template. Even on pages with irregular naming though, the manual override system is there, which basically turns it into a simple template for making the standard table that has a lot of irrelevant bytes. Was looking through your sandbox of proposals and I think the "Sandbox/testo" page layout looks amazing for the default project listing page. There's some clean up left but I like that idea better than the one you have for your actual "Sandbox/ProposedProjectPage" example. The proposed project page seems too have a bit too much info considering the large number of projects, but your proposed one would be great as a "detailed listing of projects" that could be clickable from a "Sandbox/testo"-styled page. That would probably reduce computation cost for the server as well, since people could land on the lower(?) cost "Sandbox/testo"-styled page but would still have the option of the more detailed one if they wanted that info. In any case, both of these are great work and hopefully one (or both) of them will get made into the actual project listing page. My name is Muhamad from Malaysia. I'm currently studying undergraduate in United Kingdom.
During my spare time, I used to read Light Novels (LN) from Baka-Tsuki (BT) and my Japanese friend, who is in the same universities. I do enjoy reading both original and English-translated LN.

Then, he said to me: 'Why not translating them into your Own Language (Malay)?" And here I am, quite to afraid to suggest it beforehand.

Therefore, I would like to request your permission, and your approval to add another language-translated LN, that is Malay.

I know this is something new, but I would like to try it by means of translating it to my native language.

While I'd say format unification is a generally a good thing, I don't think it's an urgent item. To implement this as a rule/guideline, it should probably be raised for discussion in the forums. And then after discussion (aka the thread sits there for a week or two without anyone posting), it could be accepted as a new rule/guideline. I've updated the Teaser Project "Boku to Kanojo no Game Sensou" and posted the complete Volume 1 as a external contributor of Kami Translation. Though I've updated the "Staff section", in the page, I don't know how to update the "Update Section" myself. the "Feedback thread" linked the forum is also Transferred to the Teaser Section of the Forums for now, if possible please check if I did something wrong or not and while you are at it, if found no error, transfer it from Teaser Project to the Main Project section.

Dear Administrators, There has been a lot of spam articles in the recent changes section as of late. Ranging from losing weight to getting various discounts, several things are being advertised. To frank, I don't want to read these kind of things on this site. It also appears that the same articles are being uploaded multiple times each day. I did the same for DanMachi, StB, Mahouka, and Durarara!!. Tate and Seraph aren't locked as of now, so I left those as is. Index was already editable through Template:Toaru:Series_Overview. For the projects not in abandoned on the sidebar, they will be moved out of the project categories and into the sidebar once all the translations on the pages are deleted, which should be no later than 2 months before the first English publication. In Tate's case I don't think there's yet a consensus on what to do, so I can't say what will happen. My name is Muhamad from Malaysia. I'm currently studying undergraduate in United Kingdom.
During my spare time, I used to read Light Novels (LN) from Baka-Tsuki (BT) and my Japanese friend, who is in the same universities. I do enjoy reading both original and English-translated LN.

Then, he said to me: 'Why not translating them into your Own Language (Malay)?" And here I am, quite to afraid to suggest it beforehand.

Therefore, I would like to request your permission, and your approval to add another language-translated LN, that is Malay.

I know this is something new, but I would like to try it by means of translating it to my native language.
If possible, I would like to found this new project, so that people from my country and those who can read Malay appreciate more stories in LN by means of Malay language.

As stated in the subject title, the release info in series overview sections should be unified. Some don't list subtitles in japanese, or some extra list the page count, other have totally different formats of date. The way the brackets or dashes are put are different from project to project. While I'd say format unification is a generally a good thing, I don't think it's an urgent item. To implement this as a rule/guideline, it should probably be raised for discussion in the forums. And then after discussion (aka the thread sits there for a week or two without anyone posting), it could be accepted as a new rule/guideline. Dear Administrators, There has been a lot of spam articles in the recent changes section as of late. Ranging from losing weight to getting various discounts, several things are being advertised. To frank, I don't want to read these kind of things on this site. It also appears that the same articles are being uploaded multiple times each day. It is so bad that the light novel updates I want to read/check are getting buried and hard to find. I am sorry if you didn't want me to tell you about this in this section, but I thought you should know about this issue. It is really annoying and I think this issue should be addressed soon if not immediately. Thanks again for running this awesome site, I hope this can help make it even better.

That's cool. I added those overviews. I'll udpate also the others licensed projects in the same way. DanMachi is already up. Following up will be Strike the Blood, Mahouka, Index, Tate no Yuusha, Seraph of the End, Durarara!!. I did the same for DanMachi, StB, Mahouka, and Durarara!!. Tate and Seraph aren't locked as of now, so I left those as is. Index was already editable through Template:Toaru:Series_Overview. For the projects not in abandoned on the sidebar, they will be moved out of the project categories and into the sidebar once all the translations on the pages are deleted, which should be no later than 2 months before the first English publication. In Tate's case I don't think there's yet a consensus on what to do, so I can't say what will happen. It has come to my attention that large parts of Chapter 1 of the first Volume of SaeKano(short hand) by Unnamed Translations were directly copied from my translations here at the http://thenakedsol.blogspot.com.au/2015/02/saenai-heroine-no-sodatekata-volume-1.html While I see no problems with the translation of their prologue, there is considerable evidence to suggest chapter 1 is not entirely their own.
