I decided it to put consistency with several other naming convention like Elemental Lord, and Elemental Waffe. And, zzhk did the final push for me to do it, http://www.baka-tsuki.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=4633&start=435#p174468 To add on, I've been looking for a term to replace 'spirit contractor' since forever --KuroiHikari (Talk | ) 01:19, 16 February 2013 (CST)

Just a note that "military elemental" would sound awkward, since it would be hard to link "military" to the elements, unlike others like "sword", though I am aware that we can treat the two words as separate and it does not affect reading. Thanks. Zakashi (talk) 03:02, 17 February 2013 (CST)

Well, it's okay comparative to "military personal". Elementals are spirits anyway. Or, would militarized elementals work better? --KuroiHikari (Talk | ) 06:09, 17 February 2013 (CST)
Just my 2 cents: I think militarized sounds better than simply military. Zzhk (talk) 07:44, 17 February 2013 (CST)

Militarized means something that has been turned/converted into an object/group belonging to a military. -Anon

If it is guns or other weapons, I think a somewhat common term to use would be "military-grade weapon". So how about something like "tactical class military-grade elementals"? A bit of a mouthful, but to me that capture the meaning well. -Another Anon

They aren't graded in any sense. It's just a simple association to military. Like military aviation, military facilities, military network and etc. --KuroiHikari (Talk | ) 19:27, 23 February 2013 (CST)
So will all instances of "spirit" will be changed to "elemental"? which ones are applicable? In chapter seven "It was a small lizard with its tail on fire.
A low level flame spirit." At least in some places, I think Spirit is more appropriate than elemental. SonodaYuki (talk) 04:20, 23 February 2013 (CST)

All instances of spirit will be reverted back to spirit. I'm going with what zzhk proposed for now, keeping elementalist. All changes should be corrected in due time. --KuroiHikari (Talk | ) 04:26, 23 February 2013 (CST)
I´m sorry but i´m new so i dont know if this is the right place for this but the term "Elemental Waffe" seems odd to me since it is a combination of two languages. Is this intentional because of the originals or just something from the Translator? Wouldn´t it be better to make it completely German (Elementare Waffe) or completely English (Elemental Weapon)? --DerDigge (talk) 13:36, 1 March 2013 (CST)
I'm not opposed. I originally was planning to do that, but the official English romanization had it as Tohka so I chose to follow what the author decided.--jonathanasdf 23:12, 17 July 2012 (CDT)
The official romanization also has Sido instead of Shidou and Sprit instead of Spirit. Official romanization is usually just there for design, not to sound natural or even be correct. し is pronounced "shi", but it's romanized to "si" in Kunrei-shiki romanization, for reasons that are fairly obvious if you look at the tables on that link. Needless to say I think we should avoid that, since no English speaker is going to read it correctly unless they're familiar with Kunrei-shiki or kana... and even then it's hard to mentally read "Sido" off the page as "Shido". (This is the main reason I dislike Tooka -- even though I know how it's supposed to be pronounced, I inevitably read the "too" as /tuː/) -- Dagger 00:59, 19 July 2012 (CDT)

The problem with Tou vs Too is that often the kanji reading is Too. But I'm fine with using Tou for readability. I don't like using Toh because first of all it's very situational (e.g. can you imagine writing tohi instead of tooi? lol) and it can cause confusion depending on the following syllable (e.g. Kagetsu Tohya - would be read as to-hya if you go by syllable). Anyway, I guess we'll just go with Touka then?
I'll probably just finish what's left of volume 1 first, unless Jonathan still wants to do it. -- Shini 08:19, 19 July 2012 (CDT)
Should spirit be "Spirit" or "spirit"? I noticed alot while editing but its not really consistent. Honestly i think it should be "Spirit" since we arn't using the traditional sense of the word so a capital would be appropriate. Plus it looks better.
Casing
Wanted to bring up the issue of casing for certain words. In different chapters, theres inconsistencies in the casing of certain words. Mainly: spacequake, Commander Mode, Realizer, anti-spirit squad, Spirits, shelters
Not too big of a deal but kinda bothers me since i don't know if i should change them or not without annoying other people. Can we have an agreement on the casing we want such words to be?

Caps will also depend on how the word is used. e.g. spacequake, shelter, spirit are just general nouns that shouldn't be capped unless they start a sentence, but there maybe cases for example "Spirit" should be capped since it's used to identify certain individuals/used to replace a pronoun. Another way around the issue is to introduce brackets < > for special terms in the story like <LOST> / <Territory> --Drowzycow (talk) 09:50, 26 November 2012 (CST)
If you were worried about that, it would be "Yoh" rather than "Yuh." Honestly speaking, I think it should remain as is. Also, I'm not sure how confusing it would be. Her name is capitalized like all names should be. "You" as a word is only capitalized if it's at the beginning of a sentence, and the following word should tell who it refers to. The translators are also maintaining titles and honorifics for a lot of it, so it'll be "Kasukabe," "You-san," and "Kasukabe You" for the most part, so I'm not sure how awkward it is reading it. Hey firebird,

I was reading over Mondaiji and, i noticed there was a lack of editors for this light novel. so I was wondering if i can help out. i love this series from the manga to the anime adaptation. and from what i've read from the little that was translated made me want to help out. I'm a native english speaker so this is well within my abilities. this would be my first project for a light novel, so please guide me along.
Hi, just wanna say, please get to work on Kamisama no Memochou if you can. I'm a fan of the series, and I really wanna read Volumes 5,6, and 7. They seem pretty good (on Wikipedia), and I can't wait!
About vol 1 chapter 7 of kamimemo
When Alice says that "the pain of a hikkomori is En extension of the Exponentional function she is talking about math. Simply put; the longer along the x value something is, the higher the y value would become. In Alice case x:time, y;pain. 10 -potence and logarithmic scale are other examples of this.
Basically she is saying that it hurts more the longer she is outside.
Here is a very simple example
About Hina's speech is it ”Hina wants…… Mnn~ Erm~ Hanburg steak!” or ”Hina wants…… Mnn~ Erm~ Hamburg steak!”? (Volume 2, Chapter 5) I do realize that Hina can't pronounce words like the rest of the cast in Papakiki, but is it true in this case as well? It's not a typo, actually Hanburg and Hamburg in Japanese are the same.. It is going on when they went from pub or from club building? "just now" is confusing me.
2) 1st vol. 1 chapter: Not only in the school, but even the people from other colleges at the other end of the slope came to get a glimpse of her presence.

"other end of slope" - is other side of hill?
I was reading the light novel you're editing and i found out that you were the only one that was working on it. So after talking to firebird i was sent to you. I'd love to help with this project as a editor, after all, I do enjoy this light novel. Although this would be my first project as a editor i'm a quick learner as well as a hard worker. Firebird would be fine with my help as long as you approve. so please allow me to help.
If you'd like me to edit chapter 1 aswell, i would happily do so. == Changing You's name to Yuh ==

It's going to be very akward to english readers to read "You" as a name so it should be changed to Yuh for readability.
:I was contemplating this when I started translating, but reached the same conclusion as EnigmaticAxiom below. I don't think it causes that much confusion that would warrant breaking the romanization style of the whole text for this one name. Thank you for your suggestion though! Firebird (talk) 01:02, 18 April 2013 (CDT)

It's much more awkward writing it than anything else. --EnigmaticAxiom (talk) 23:55, 18 April 2013 (CST)
