"Hataraku Maō-sama!" (はたらく魔王さま!), is a Japanese light novel series written by Satoshi Wagahara, with illustrations by 029. Since February 2011, ASCII Media Works has published ten volumes. (April 2014) A 13 episodes long anime has aired in Japan during Spring 2013, the anime was later licensed and released in the US under the title "The Devil is a Part-Timer!".

== Story Synopsis ==
The Demon Lord and one of his generals, Alsiel, escape through a portal to modern Tokyo, Japan after being confronted by the Hero Emilia Justina and her companions. However, due to the lack of magic in the modern contemporary world, both the Demon Lord and Alsiel change into forms representing what they would look like if they were human. In order to survive, the Demon Lord takes a part-time job in a fast food restaurant named MgRonald while Alsiel serves as a houseman. One day, the Demon Lord, who now goes by Sadao Maō, meets a girl who is actually the Hero Emilia, who now goes by Emi Yusa.

In Chapter 2 of Elysion Volume 1 After they defeat the Monster they said "5 thousand yen for each of us" That feels like an absurdly low amount for what they did since 15 thousand yen is like 150$

There's no mistranslation. It's 5000¥ each, meaning siblings got 10000¥. As you say, it's around 50$ each. You say it's a low amount, however considering the siblings got 100$ for an hour or two hours of work (Instead of doing more they went to do celebratory party for first hunt)? Meaning they could do 2-3 bosses per day, 300$ a day sounds like decent amount for two. Let's say they hunt 5 days in a week, it's 21 days of hunts in a month, meaning they can get up to 6300$ in a month together. They aren't renting out their home, they bought it. Of course they have to pay for some things but that's it. Also, unless they break their characters completely, they won't have to pay for repairing them. What they have to pay for are living expanses, food and school tuition.
