	Bottleneck is a youth mystery novel set in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture where Ryo Sagano, a first-year high school student, visits the Tojinbo cliffs to pay respects to his girlfriend, Nozomi Suwa, who tragically fell two years prior. Upon his arrival, Ryo receives a call from his mother telling him that his brother has just passed away and to return immediately. To not make his trip a waste, Ryo attempts to briefly pay his respects while reflecting on Nozomi’s death. However, while mourning, he mysteriously loses consciousness, and like Nozomi, falls off a cliff at Tojinbo. Unexpectedly, Ryo awakens in Kanazawa, his hometown, confused, but relieved. However, his relief only shortly lives as he finds someone he has never met living comfortably in his home: a woman claiming to be a member of the Sagano household, identifying herself as Saki Sagano.
