			But this means there is only one attack. In concept, the pilot is disposable too.

			In other words, the above was changed fundamentally, but you could say that was the reason behind the design of the Raiyou and Haruarashi. Namely, to return alive any number of times and attack the enemy territory over and over again. Compared to the Seiran, the Haruarashi could not carry as much, since after all, it didn't discard its floats...

			As for Rear Admiral Maebara, as he was watching the maintenance crew do their work, the Chief of the Deep Blue Fleet's Air Force, Flight Lieutenant Ootake Umatarou climbed out of the hatch.

			"Congratulations on the New Year, Your Excellency."

			He saw Maebara and saluted, then with a light movement, sat inside the Raiyou's cockpit.

			A short time later he got out and stood side by side with Maebara.

			"Ever since we sailed out of Kwajalein Atoll, I've been wondering how you are holding up to living in a narrow submarine," Maebara asked him.

			Jokingly, he said, "Yes, sir. If anything, those who ride aircraft are claustrophobic." Continuing, "So, pretty soon now..."

			The more you looked at him, the more fearless he seemed.

			"I hear you get in that cockpit three times a day."

			"Yes, sir. It's because it dulls my senses," Lieutenant Ootake replied.

	It seemed that piloting an aircraft was not like riding a bicycle. It is said that after twenty days of not flying, it takes a full hour to regain one's instincts for flying.
