Goemon's locations

Is it possible that instead of "Yoshiharu lent Goemon and the Kawanami members to Hanbei", the intended reading is supposed to be "Yoshiharu had Goemon lend the Kawanami members to Hanbei"? This would set things up as though Goemon specifically chose a few members of the Kawanami to accompany Hanbei and then stuck with Yoshiharu, which wouldn't create a mixup later in the narrative. Eh?
