Tang Dynasty, India and Persia "East"

From the text:

"At the eastern side which is even further than Tang, even passing through India which is said to be the most eastern country, the country of Persia......!"

Considering India is West of China and Persia is West of India, I believe several of the instances of "eastern" need to be replaced with "western", unless there is something in the raws that states otherwise.
