|title=April 2016 Town Hall Meeting & Election Announcements

Hello all!

This is just a notice that Baka-Tsuki's Town Hall (open to all BT members) will be held on Saturday April 23rd. It will be held on IRC (#Baka-Tsuki channel). The session information is as follows:

Session 1: Saturday 14:00 UTC (10AM EST)

Session 2: Sunday 02:00 UTC (10PM EST)

Please see '''[[Meeting:April232016|this wiki page]]''' for more information.

In other news, '''2016 Executive Council elections''' will occur in May. Nominations will open on May 1st and run for a week, and the voting will open on May 8th and run for a week. If you are interested in becoming part of Baka-Tsuki's administrative team, it may be a good idea to attend the town hall or review the meeting minutes.

The server will need to perform a reboot at at 20:00 CET on Sunday the 13th November in order to perform critical updates, please note that the wiki will go in read-only mode 1 hour before the update to prevent you from loosing your work in case you are working online. Keep in mind that we advise translators and editors to always work offline on a local copy, to avoid data loss if the website has a problem. The reboot shouldn't take long and everything is expected to be back to normal before 21:00 CET. (We'll perform some cold backup too, since we have the occasion.) A downtime of approx. 15 minutes is to be expected. Both the wiki and the forum are concerned.

|title= 10th Anniversary for Baka-Tsuki~!

  +
|title=Baka-Tsuki server died

10 years.

10 whole years.

That is how long Baka-Tsuki has been in existence.

Watching it grow from a mere shrine for Haruhi-sama into THE hub for light novel translations is something no one would have envisioned back then. But here we are.

Many have come, many have read, and many have contributed. At the same time, many have fallen, many have despaired, and many were devastated. Truly, this is a mixed bag of emotions, but is that not what encompasses life?

All are united under the passion to read, to translate, to discover a whole new world.

A whole new world~

And with that experience, many have decided to take their experiences, to share them, and to replicate the experience for others to experience.

Some of the experiences are truly grandiose, marvellous, stories that would be classics to many for the rest of their lives.

Some of the experiences, bluntly put, are gaudy, stories that makes you wonder what you just wasted your time for.

But each experience, no matter the outcome, is a fragment of a memory that lingers within each of us, and also, shared by many like you.

We have been through the good, the bad, and the ugly (most of the ugly is caused by me...)

We have been through turbulent times, peaks, downtimes, and our phases are more erratic than an economic cycle.

Well, pardon my rudeness, but we're pretty much trying to stay alive.

Stayin' Alive, Stayin' Alive~

But we didn't die this year so I guess that's good enough.

Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Dear...

To be honest, this is the time where we have to migrate from Earth to the colonies and then starting a war in UC 0078.

But no matter the outcome, because to you readers, translators, editors, all the contributors out there, there is always that wonderful thing that enamored you with this community. For that, we at Baka Tsuki are eternally grateful for.

And here's a toast, to a prolonged existence, one that will be as lively as before.

Alright guys, this one's a doozy:

Baka-Tsuki just got hit by a DMCA from Kadokawa. And this time, it's crippling,

Series affected by this are (all languages):

DAL, Itsuten, Haganai, DYD, Index, LH, Mondaiji. Nobuna, Arisu, Nareru SE, Kuusen, Sakurasou, Shana, Slayers, Chaika, Ero-manga, Spice & Wolf, Baccano, Black Bullet, Accel World, Index, Oreimo and Papakiki

Also, a note from Big Boss (tlg):

'''"Hey guys,

Looks like this time it's Kadokawa's turn to send DMCA, and it's a doozy. There are so many series listed that I think the jig is pretty much up. The server will need to be move from US if B-T wants to survive.

If this is the case I don't think I can continue to pay for the server anymore (as outright copyright infringement conflicts with my job). We will need to find a person to take over the operation. The server requirement shouldn't be that expensive. $20/month would suffice, I believe.

Currently, the BT council is looking for ways to salvage the situation. I can assure you that furious discussion is currently underway.

For all translators involved, they can head to the BT forums to request for their translations back. Follow this link: http://www.baka-tsuki.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=14765

Baka-Tsuki Translation Community
About Us
PumkiMpagebanner.png
Baka-Tsuki (BT) is a fan translation community that hosts translations for light novels in the Wiki format. Founded in 2006 by Thelastguardian (初代 - 2006-2016), Baka-Tsuki has since expanded to become the largest fan-based English light novel agglomerate on the Internet. Apart from physically hosting 252 projects in 29 different languages, Baka-Tsuki aims to promote the popularity of light novels and serve as a hub to connect readers with fan translations of East Asian light novels on the Internet.

Baka-Tsuki is not a translation group. Independent translators come to Baka-Tsuki and voluntarily upload their translations to the Wiki for public sharing. Baka-Tsuki does not control what translators choose to translate or how fast they translate. Do not ask when the next chapter will be updated. Read More
