Emails should be working again (September 21, 2015)

Emails and the associated features (verification, password resets, notifications) should be working again on both the wiki and the forums.

Emails not working at the moment (September 19, 2015)

There is currently a problem that prevents emails from working on both the wiki and the forums. Unfortunately, this means account features that use emails as well as general notifications are not functioning. Hopefully it can be fixed soon, but it requires getting in touch with the absent big boss, so it will depend on how soon he can be reached.

Updated MTL policy and new WN policy

Baka Tsuki has updated and clarified its Machine Translation (MTL) policy, and introduced a new policy on Web Novels (WNs). In short, the MTL policy has been clarified that MTL should not be added to the wiki without prior approval, and this applies to external links as well; in addition, the "Preview" tag and template will be retired and replaced with an "MTL" tag and template. For WNs, they will be moved to a new category, and only projects from translators wishing to host text will be permitted in the future. Scheduled maintenance coming in the next three days (June 4-6)

Site maintenance will be occurring over the next three days (June 4-6), starting at 12:00 UTC on each day and lasting a few hours. The site should only be inaccessible for part of that time, but will likely be read-only for the rest of those few hours.

HAPPY 9TH ANNIVERSARY BAKA-TSUKI!!!

Nine years!!! Can you believe it?! Almost a decade!

I would like to say more, but i'll save that for the blog post... (HERE!)

But the short of it is....

Thank you. I have watched Baka-Tsuki for nine years. I've seen it grown from a single website for one Light Novel to dozens. maybe hundreds of light novel fan sites and blogs.

We have come a long way and we would not be here without you. Our readers, our contributors, our translators and our critics.

It was something worth fighting for, i know our fallen brethren, virtual and in real life, who are't with us today will be smiling on us.

Let us welcome the future, no matter where the path may lead us, let us enjoy the journey together, but if you don't mind, would you let this old man ramble beside you, if only for today? haha.

Policy Clarification (External Translation Groups)

NOTICE: Baka-Tsuki Administration has updated a rule pertaining to External Translation Groups linked to or hosted on Baka-Tsuki.

The amended portion of the rule reads as follows:

External Fan Translation groups engaging in commercial activity cannot be affiliated with Baka-Tsuki (hosted/linked).

External Fan Translation groups with licensed projects on their website cannot be affiliated with Baka-Tsuki (hosted/linked).

Linked or hosted projects currently in violation of these amended rules have one week after being notified by Baka-Tsuki staff to remove their content and links from Baka-Tsuki. --Cloudii (talk) 12:07, 4 April 2015 (CDT)

23 January 2015 'Forum issues. All site tracks returns positive, forum login issues'

Raise your hands. We need the spirit bomb.

To keep this issue short, the two most important figures of Baka-Tsuki have gone AWOL, one to Destiny, and another to a world beyond tomorrow.

The site tracker returns positive for every single email address, including gmail. Thus, changing of passwords and surfing the forums is a non-option at this point.

Unfortunately, TLG hasn't been around, and we're still trying to contact him.

In short: Domain blacklisting is broken. So, every email domain is being flagged as blacklisted, preventing password changes. So, the periodic forced password change is now restricting users from the forum. This is probably a server admin thing, so TLG is needed to resolve this issue.

4 November 2014 Registration Problems. A feature. Not A bug. You're doing it wrong.

Stay Calm & Return to your gulag dormitories

As any anonymous user have noticed, there has been a persistent error in the wiki registration process. If you already have an account on the Wiki, you will have no problems registering, however brand new users will be stuck on the first page.

Unfortunately, this is not a problem we can solve without the guiding light of our glorious Big Boss & magnificent Founder.

Rest assured, since the discovery of this error, we have already dispatched 3 crack elite recon and special forces from people's Baka-Tsuki Oppression Army out into the wildness to find our Dear Leader. Unfortunately, we have never heard from them again.

But never fear! We have found 6 loyal and patriotic teenagers who have volunteered to search for the Big Boss, (someone gag that crying ones, its annoying), when they return with the Great Leader, they will be reunited with their love ones, who have been placed into our care in an happy and joyful recreational facilities deep in the Ahou Mountain Range inaccessible to the public for their protection against foreign forces. So, until we can find the 7 dragonballs to summon TLG, please head to our forum and register your grievances if you have also experienced this problem. The Big Boss will be presented this beautiful list as a gift of sacrifices. Your duty to the Motherland is appreciated.

12 June 2014 Baka-Tsuki Sidebar Revamp

Well, now for a series of controversial changes

Currently, I have removed most of the series on the sidebar to avoid overstacking on the 114 main series we have on the wiki. All of the top 30 are based on my personal opinion, and the list may be updated according to the shown popularity of the series
For all the remaining series on the sidebar, click on the 'Main Projects' function and search accordingly
Note that there are some series in the completed section, series like Oreimo and ToraDora.
We also added a random English project function, so any bored soul who has no idea on what to read can click on the random tag under the 'network' tab to randomly choose a series.

The Baka-Tsuki youtube channel is a way to provide audio readings of our translations, featuring so far is Hitagi Crab from Bakamonogatari Series: Chapters 001 & 002.

As of today, our glorious Wiki-Communist state has evolved even further and brought us two powerful beings. Celebrating 8 years of wonderful Light Novels! As you can see, this year we have updated the Server, the Forum and even the Wiki!

We have had a wonderful 8th of a decade, so come down to the forums to tell us, how you found Baka-Tsuki, what was your best Baka-Tsuki moment and most importantly, what is your all time favourite Baka-Tsuki project? HAPPY 8th ANNIVERSARY!! A 8th of a Decade of Translated Light Novels!

1 April 2014 Commencing deletion of entire SAO project.

(Note, despite the date, this is not a joke.)
The first SAO English volume by Yen Press will be released this month, so the deletion for the project will commence within 24 hours. First 6 volumes have been neutralized, so all remaining content (including Progressive) will be taken off this wiki.

31 March 2014 1st Patriotic National Baka-Tsuki Elite Oligarchy Comrade Congress of the Common People (PNB-TEOCCCP) was held on the 30th of March, 2014!

To arrest, execute and promote fellow Party Members and perhaps resolve issues with dissidents and bugs on the wiki and forum for the improvement of our glorious wiki-communist state.

16 September 2013 Hidan no Aria has been officially released as a digital Light Novel by DMG, therefore HnA Project has been officially abandoned.

I wish to thank all the B-T staff and contributors for helping to bringing this fantastic light novel series to the English speaking, western hemisphere! Alternative Language Projects of HnA will continue to be supported until an official release of HnA within their alternative language specific countries or region.
