Murakenzu's Day Off[edit]

FX:*Murata wins the game*

Murata: Finally! Look, look Shibuya! I got first place in this competition with other players!

Yuuri: Huh... I thought you could only have online competitions with PCs, but now you can play them with video game consoles and even portable ones.

Murata: The progress of technology is really amazing, don't you think? In the past, forget about internet, there weren't even mobile phones, convenience stores or express home deliveries. If you wanted to send something, you had to send it through mail which would use a freight train to reach the delivery station.

Yuuri: Train...?

FX:*Shouri barges into Yuuri's room*

Shouri: Hey... Yuu-chan!

Yuuri: Ahh! What is it!? Don't open all of a sudden, Shouri!

Shouri: Call me Oniichan!

Yuuri: I won't~

Shouri: But first and foremost...what's going on here? Two guys locked in a room all day long, looking at each other and flirting!? Oniichan won't allow this!!!

Yuuri: Huh!? We're playing a game! Since the screen is small, we're just looking at it closely. Look!

Shouri: Hmm? Oho! A portable video game console? I guess if this was about adult circumstances you'd be hiding it.

Yuuri: Which one of us should be saying that, Shouri?

Shouri: It's oniichan!

Yuuri: *sighs* That game just now was awesome. And you can fight strangers online too...

Shouri: Well, of course! And with the soft you can have a BOYS CHAT, and that's without using a phone.

Yuuri: BOYS CHAT? Can you call people using the console?

Shouri: Of course! Listen, Yuu-chan. If you were to speak to the hole in this game console here, you can talk to friends who are far away.

Yuuri: Shouri.... are you trying to make a fool of me?

Shouri: Hm?

Yuuri: There's no way I could talk to them by talking to the portable console! That's not fun at all!

Shouri: Yuu-chan.... Are you really so out of touch with civilization? *cries*

Murata: Well... I think it's fine for Shibuya to be like that...

Shouri: Well, at any rate, I think it's good that Yuu-chan is interested in games. And so? What dating sim are you playing?

Yuuri: Why do you think it can only be a dating sim?

Murata: It's just a racing game.

Shouri: Eh? Races? How boring...

Yuuri: But you know...? Can you play a dating sim online?

Shouri: Of course! Like Idol Master, for example.

Murata: Wait, isn't that just a game for the portable version?

Shouri: Yeah. Well, indeed... I guess there are still no portable dating sim games that can be played online. Even though I think this type of game genre is beautiful, there are still many games that need to be made.

Murata: Actually, I also think that there are many ideas for games that can be made. In the future, I want to be a game developer.

Yuuri: Eh? That's the first I hear of it. What sort of game do you want to make, Murata?

Murata: Mmhh.. I guess I'd like a game where I can use my skills. A game where the character is similar to me.

Yuuri: Aren't there games like that already? I mean there's been games like that for a long time. Like the one where there are traps inside a mansion, and people who go inside the house get caught in the TRAPS.

Murata: *sighs* ...Shibuya... What sort of person do you imagine I am.... ?

Shouri: Well... it's not a bad idea to be a game script writer. It's an easy way to become popular and to get fervent fans. Yuu-chan's friend is rather quick-witted!

Yuuri: Really? Ah, as expected from Murata!

Shouri: But! When it comes to games I'm also really good! With all the experience I have I can give you a lot of good ADVICES. So please! Ask me anything you want!

Murata: Yeah! Of course I'd love the opinion of an otak... a person who knows a lot about the subject!

Yuuri: Murata, the type of person who's quite the strategist, right? How about a war tactics game? Something like putting traps in your area and then making them go off from the enemy's area?

Murata: *sighs* ...Shibuya... can you think about something else besides traps?

Shouri: The friend of my younger brother... would have the attributes of a 'childhood friend' and 'class leader'... 'and girl-in-glasses, right!? If this is not a character where you can use your skills I don't know what is!

Yuuri: Girl-in-glasses, you say... but he's a guy! At any rate, what sort of strategy game would that be?

Murata: Ah! I came up with a good idea! What about an RPG with a reversal of genders?

Yuuri: Reversal of genders?

Murata: Yup! The main character is a high school girl, a class leader in braids. And then, her friend since childhood, is really into club activities, a SPORTS girl. The main character would usually think 'Ah, this girl is such a dummy...' and show a heartwarming smile looking at her, but one day, that friend was taken away to a different world and turn into the maou...

Yuuri: Eh... wait a second!

Shouri: What's going on with you? It's really an interesting story...

Yuuri: Is the part about looking at her with a heartwarming smile true?

Murata: Mhh... I guess it would be more like a lukewarm smile.

Shouri: And then? How does it continue?

Murata: And then, the place where she ended up, was like medieval Europe. A FANTASY world, where she got many allies. In other words, a party. In the front of the party for the defense would be a pretty older girl with a refreshing smile. And then another one, who although she says some stern things, she's really a SHY and kind older girl, who I guess would be the one with attack magic.

Yuuri: Murata, that...

Murata: In the rear (guard) of the party, you'd have the tsundere younger sister type. Her appearance would be that of a younger sister, but actually she'd be older than the maou. Then, in the recovery party, you'd have a mature type, that can be either in the front or the rear, in other words, a thief or a ninja. An older lady who's really skilled. She could also collect information, and also be really strong in fight.

Shouri: It sounds good but... don't they all sound like they're too old? How can even the 'younger sister' character be old?

Murata: Ahh.... for the time being, let's put that to a side. And then the heroine would eventually fly to the other world with her friend , right? Because her friend, who's a new maou, is so simple-minded, and always thinking in a straight line, forgive me for dispens...

Yuuri: Sorry about being so simple-minded, huh!

Shouri: Yuu-chan, why are you getting upset?

Murata: When I, no! I mean the heroine, enters the maou's group, the maou's MP increases considerably.

Shouri: In other words, she'd be a support character. However even though you haven't mentioned it at all, when they become adults, they should be getting married and having kids. A character that inherites the parameters of the parents.

Murata: Since in the setting they're all females, that wouldn't be biologically possible.

Yuuri: I feel like I've heard about this SYSTEM somewhere...!

Shouri: Wait a moment. The friend of the main character would be the maou. Which means her role would be the one of a maou... will she destroy humans?

Murata: Of course.

Yuuri: Don't say that without even hesitating!

Murata: What are you getting all worked up for, Shibuya? We're just talking about a game

Shouri: I see... I think that that twist in the story might be quite interesting... The part that I like the best is that all the characters in the party are females!

Yuuri: Ghhh.... this damn dating-sim maniac....

Murata: Ah! But outside the party, there are males characters you know? There's the handsome MAD SCIENTIST who makes weapons for the maou. When they level up, and the maou's group MP gets high, he'd supply a helpful weapon.

Yuuri: Is that... Anissin...?

Shouri: Mhm! Games need a MAD SCIENTIST, right?

Murata: Mhm! And the retired prior maou would be a DANDY, SEXY, ROMANTIC person who travels the world. After clearing the game once, you'll get a different dialogue and be given beneficial information or items.

Shouri: A fashionable old man! I bet he has beautiful young women serving him.

Murata: That's precisely right! And all the maou's subordinates, although they look like young men, they've actually lived for hundreds of years and...

Yuuri: Ahh! Enough! Cut it out Murata!

Shouri: That's right... You don't need to make such a complicated back story for the male characters. The important part of a dating sim are the girls, right?

Yuuri: Is this a dating sim? Has Shin Makoku been turned into a dating sim game!?

Shouri: Oh! Have you decided on the name of the setting? You guys have already been talking about this, haven't you? But, no matter how interesting the story is, without any drawings, it won't sell.

Murata: I've already thought about that! First I... no I mean the heroine, won't be showing their appearance too much so that the PLAYER can connect to her on an emotional level. *starts drawing* She'll have big glasses... like this... hiding her face...

Shouri: That's pretty sober-looking... but I guess it's fine for the heroine.

Murata: And then... the maou would be a girl with black, short hair... a little sun-tanned... with a SLENDER figure...

Shouri: Ohhh! She has big eyes, how cute! For such a cute girl to become the maou, it's moeeeeeeee! (cute)

Yuuri: Don't say moe!

Shouri: Even so, Yuu-chan's friend is unexpectedly good at drawing...

Yuuri: Um... yeah... you're unexpectedly good at that, Murata.

Murata:*whispers* Well... an otaku is really easy to please...

Shouri: Mh? Did you say something?

Murata: Nah, I didn't say anything! And the next, the tsundere magical girl in the party... hm... *draws* she'd be like this... with blonde hair...

Shouri: OHHHH! If she's a magical girl then of course she needs a big ribbon and ponytails, right!? As expected from the friend of my younger brother. I'm pleasantly surprised!

Yuuri: Don't start changing things out of the blu... eh? ... cute...

Murata: Hm. The next time we go there let's take a ribbon, Shibuya.

Yuuri: Don't say that to me!

Murata: And the older sisters would look like this I guess...

Shouri: Hm! They both have very nice bodies. I like it! What do you think friend of my younger brother? Shall we seriously try to turn it into a game? It can be an independent production, and won't be using Internet but... that's a problem we'll fix in the future. For now, let's try making a prototype of the game ~!

Murata: Good idea! Nowadays, there are many games that are homemade and didn't need a company behind them! Making an independent game is not a bad first step to taking the lead in the industry...

Yuuri:.. Taking the lead!?

Shouri: Since my friends can all program, we can just have them do the SIMULATION part. As for the original art...

Murata: Ah, if someone can colorize them, I can make the original art. Ah , of course, the scenario as well.

Shouri: Great! Then let me do that! Then there's the part about sales, distribution and display of the product... For the time being, let's plan to sell it next year in the summer, in "The Greatest Sales Meeting in The World", what do you think?

Yuuri: Wai-Wait! Hey! Why are you talking about something so concrete.... something like that is impossible!

Shouri: Why is it impossible?

Yuuri: Why... you ask... *pouts* You have no money and... Murata, well... he's going to a private school and doesn't have time to make a game...

Murata: Ha. No, it's fine! Even if I don't study I always get good grades!

Yuuri: *whispers* C..r..a..p... I hate that he's so confident...

Murata: As for the capital, since it's an independent production, we don't have to spend any money publicizing it. If we were to add VOICES then that would be different, but for the time being we're not thinking about it...

Yuuri: No! There's something about you two working together that I really dislike!

Shouri: Why? There's nothing wrong about it?

Yuuri: Of course there is! In the first place, why does it have to have a reversal of genders? Isn't it fine if they're all men? An average high school boy gets dragged to another world, and gets turned into the maou. And there there's a refreshing-looking body-guard type oniichan, and a stern oniichan who likes cute-things, an oniichan with glasses that thinks of him like a grandson, a character that looks like a younger brother character, but it's really an oniichan. And while getting involved with such characters, he can solve the fights between humans and mazoku. A story about justice and peace!

Shouri: Yuu-chan!

Yuuri: What is it?

Shouri: *scared* That type of characters... you'll find in a game for girls!!!!

Yuuri: Eeehhhh!? Is that so!? *freezes in shock*... Gah~ I didn't know... I'm ... living the life of a game for girls...

Murata: I don't care either way. Nowadays in the game industry, games for girls are promising...

Shouri: You can't!!!!! If the party doesn't contain an all female cast, then I won't like it! If my MOTIVATION is down, I can't do a good job!

Yuuri: Are you bragging about your skills!?

Murata: Then, how about if you can choose the gender at the beginning? I'm talking about a multi-USER system... we'll have to make 2 CGs for the events but you can use the same system and scenarios for both, and when it comes to how big the game is, we could sell the special scenarios independently...

Yuuri: *cries loudly* What's this concrete long-range plan!?

Shouri: Ohhhhh! A game where you can pick the gender, and it's aimed to both males and females, I think that would be a first! This will certainly become popular! Making it into the industry is now a given!

Murata: Then let's get everyone together and have a meeting! I'll make a simple draft proposal for everyone to read.

Shouri: Great! I'll leave it to you, friend of my younger brother! I'll go call everyone in the internet for a meeting

Yuuri: Stop it! Stop this plan to make a weird game!

Murata: *sighs* Shibuya, we're counting on you for the voices!

Yuuri: What, me too? You want me to help you too!? No way, no way!!!

Shouri: That's right! What if we try to have a demo for "The Greatest Sales Meeting in The World" that's coming up?

Murata: Ah! That's a good idea!

Yuuri: Wai... stop it Murata!

Murata: At any rate, do you know someone who can help with the voices for the part that aims to males?

Shouri: Of course!

Yuuri: Ahhh... stop it! Both of you cut it out! Listen to me when I speak!!!
