Sigh, then he should ask us by posting the original j-text here. Anyways, Florza. Please sign your posts with <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki> (4 tildes, not three not five, but four). It must be tough typing in your user page link. [[User:Zero2001|Zero2001]] - [[User_talk:Zero2001|Talk]] - 07:16, 7 September 2012 (CDT)

Revision as of 14:16, 7 September 2012

What's the name of this skill? If there is something you're unsure of then please ask here (write down what you're unsure of and provide the original j-text, romanji, etc along with your thoughts on what it means). Also it would be better to do things in the proper order. This is spoiling. Very bad. Zero2001 - Talk - 10:34, 5 September 2012 (CDT)

And is this complete or not? If not then please use the incomplete template. Instructions on usage on linked page. Zero2001 - Talk - 10:40, 5 September 2012 (CDT)

So is this complete or not? Cause it doesn't look like it is. Zero2001 - Talk - 12:02, 5 September 2012 (CDT)

No, its still incomplete. Further translation is going on. --Chancs (talk) 12:12, 5 September 2012 (CDT)

Notes:

  • Please d...do not put spaces in st-stutterings.
  • *SFX* should normally not be translated. Please keep them to preserve and honour the Japanese ambiance. If you must you can place a ref note to explain. And encapsulate them with *Asterisks* as shown. See Help:Japanese SFX for more details.
  • Thought speech is to be in italics. Do not confuse with character narration.
  • I've already explained about «terms».

What is «Placeholder Name»? Zero2001 - Talk - 06:38, 6 September 2012 (CDT)

Ok, I tried to make the text more in line with the terminology and guidelines stated. There are a few points I would like to mention.
Should we change "spirit sword dance" to simply "blade dance"? It has been stated in the terminology that blade dance is the short form for spirit blade dance festival, if there is a need to leave it as "spirit sword dance", maybe we can discuss it at the terminology page?
May I have some clarification on the use of bolding and caps in certain parts of the translation? Is it used in the raw or is it just simply based on the translator's intention of emphasis on that part?
In the earlier part of volume 3, Ellis refers to Velsaria as "Aneue" instead of "Onee-sama", is the change in the epilogue in terms of how Ellis addresses Velsaria intended?
For placeholder names for the names of teams that qualified for the blade dance, I think that it would be best if someone could take a look at the japanese raws and help come up with the names?
That's all I can think of for now, well I do agree that the epilogue is a bit of a spoiler, but I would like to thank the translator for taking the time and effort to translate this. :D I hope I didn't take up too much space here :P Zakashi (talk) 10:15, 6 September 2012 (CDT)

It remains as 'Aneue'. He's a Chinese -> English translator, and he does not pay any note to the talk page - it's rather futile. You can find him on the Baka-Tsuki forums, Auxiliary Brigade STnBD General Discussion. Another thing of note is the numerous inaccuracies in the translation. - Florza

Well, I do go to the forums but find it more apt to put it here since I don't want to clutter up that forum with so many questions. My questions above focus more on the inconsistency so I'm not sure about the inaccuracies. Though Chinese is my mother tongue, I don't double check with the chinese raws since I feel that there could be some small details missed when it's translated jap->chinese, so I shall refrain from rephrasing the sentences for accuracy. Since the issues I brought up are about inconsistencies, it does not affect the reading of the chapter much, so I shall leave the discussion as it is. Zakashi (talk) 10:36, 6 September 2012 (CDT)

Blade Dance has been used so far. Also Japanese -> Chinese -> English will cause a lot of loss, that's bad. If there is anyone who can do Japanese -> English please do so. If it's 'Aneue' then correct it. Aneue holds even more respect than Onee-sama so you can see that it's important to keep the familial terms as they are in the japanese original, here, as is. I've already explained Aneue via ref note in one of the earlier chapters. So no problem there. Zero2001 - Talk - 10:57, 6 September 2012 (CDT)

Back to the topic at hand. What is «Placeholder Name»? Zero2001 - Talk - 15:07, 6 September 2012 (CDT)

I think I have mentioned it before in my block of text :P. The placeholder name is just something put there for the names of other teams from the academy that qualified for the blade dance. As the translator is not sure of how to name these 2 teams, it is left as blank. Zakashi (talk) 19:05, 6 September 2012 (CDT)
