"It lit the highway 100 miles ahead...." 100?! That sounds totally implausible. That would have to be a really high fireball - several miles up I would think. You certainly couldn't see anywhere near that far. I can believe 10 miles, but 100? This seems like it has to be a mistranslation.

Checked. No problem. By the way, have you heard of this word called "exaggeration"? If you have not, I'd suggest you looking up the word. A link has been provided for your convenience. Because this element apepars quite often in novels, and awareness of it would save you from future troubles of asking such questions.

There's no need to be rude about it. Exaggeration is used frequently enough and I'm well aware of it. However, this isn't the type of situation that I would have expected it in (it's far more likely when a person is speaking or thinking than when the author is giving a description) and the fact that this is a translation means that it's quite possible for it to be a translation issue rather than exaggeration. But if the original text does indeed say 100, then it says 100. It just seemed off to me and I thought that it should be checked.
