Your guess is correct. I tried to follow the Jap/Chn versions as closely as I could.

The parenthesis weren't in the original scripts. It is the author's writing style.

As for the sheer number of grammatical mistakes/broken sentences...part of it is because there is no (clearly defined anyway) past tense usage in the original script.

The other reason is because my English sucks.

Anyway if you can understand the meaning of the sentence, you can correct the sentence. If the change is going to (majorly) affect the meaning of the sentence, however, you will have to consult Kinny or me. Thankfully those sentences are both rare and obvious.

So go right ahead.
