Hello, I am Ayame the Kaze no Stigma translator and I saw you removed the inactive supervisor and project manager respectively due to inactivity so I have no one to ask but you. One of the Italian readers [[User:Kirishima Zen|Kirishima Zen]] ([[User talk:Kirishima Zen|talk]]) translated KnS volume 1 in Italian and doesn't know how to add a new language. I wonder if you could help her if it's not too much trouble but if you don't want to I'll try to fix it myself. Just tell me. Thanks. [[User:Ayame|Ayame]]

== Mirrored text in Zoku-Owarimonogatari ==

Can I please have your opinion about [https://www.baka-tsuki.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=80&t=18801 this forum thread]? In short: I'd like to add two rules to Custom.css for mirrored text, which is used in Monogatari Series volume 18.

Then there are two choices to be made.
  +
* (1a) Mirror the text blockwise: <span style="display:inline-block; transform:scaleX(-1); text-align:right;">The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog</span>, or
  +
* (1b) Mirror it letter-by-letter by first writing it backwards (using unicode bidi) then mirroring it blockwise: <span style="display:inline-block; transform:scaleX(-1); unicode-bidi:bidi-override; direction: rtl;">The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog.</span>
  +
  +
And
  +
* (2a) Use inline style attributes and don't introduce a new classname,
  +
* (2b) Use the general classname '''.mirrored''', or
  +
* (2c) Use a specific classname like '''.mg18-mirrored''' (i.e. monogatari volume 18).
  +
  +
Some observations:
  +
* My mobile browser supports bidi but not the mirroring transform, so (1a) does nothing and (1b) just renders it sdrawkcab (backwards).
  +
* The original Japanese is written in columns, so even after mirroring they're still in the correct order top-to-bottom. (1b) is somehow reminiscent of this (the letters still flow left-to-right), but I find it harder to read than (1a).
  +
* (2b) and (2c) are more flexible. If you write the style rule with the selector '''.mirrored:not(:hover)''', the mirroring effect will go away when the reader hovers over the text, making it easier to read.
  +
* I suspect (2b) and (2c) will be lost in a conversion to a different medium like epub. I assume (2a) would be more likely to survive conversion, but I'm not sure.
  +
* I've no particular preference between (2b) and (2c).
  +
  +
Currently the chapter is written with (1b) and (2a), but I think I will change option 1 to (1a), just so it's easer to read. [[User:Double-X|Double-X]] ([[User talk:Double-X|talk]]) 20:39, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
  +
:I don't like 2c ; the class should be reusable elsewhere as needed.
  +
:Actually, if we want to be truly flexible we could use a template call (like <nowiki>{{mirrored|The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog.}}</nowiki> ) so there'd be a single place ([[template:Mirrored]]) where to change stuff if we decide to switch the way it's done.

== Question sur les œuvres originales du site. ==

  +
Hello !
  +
  +

== I'm new in Baka-Tsuki, and i need some help. ==
  +
  +
explaining my situation, i got interested in a new anime of the season and went looking for a website to read the novel and ended up here.
  +
while i was reading i was thinking about the work that should be translating something and i was interested.
  +
Another reason for my interest in wanting to start trying to translate is that the novel I was reading in my language (I speak Brazilian Portuguese) was no longer available from a certain chapter, and I thought about continuing to translate myself.
  +
here comes my doubt, how do I create a page, or do a project? I saw the "Baka-Tsuki: New Project Startup Guidelines" website guide, but I still didn't understand it very well, so I'm asking for your help.
  +
I'm sorry if there is something wrong with the text, I can read and understand English very well, but I have no confidence in writing.

Hidan no Aria[edit]

I see that you're deleting all of Hidan no Aria's translations sayung that (title is now licencied and edited in the USA.), but now matter where I search, I can't find any news on that. The closest thing I found was the licensing, 2 years ago, of the anime.--Kemm (talk) 08:58, 5 September 2013 (CDT)

Heyo~
The novel is being edited by Digital Manga and the first volume is apparently already out [1]
KuroiHikari is curfrently posting more detailled infos about that on the forum
DarkoNeko talk 09:02, 5 September 2013 (CDT)
I was about to say "Forget it, I found it". I find it weird that they've not made more fuss about it.--~~

Does that mean, that it is possible to license the whole series OR a couple of volumes? (I don´t know since there was the case of Shakugan no Shana, which got deleted only the first and second volume).--Zuruumi (talk) 07:29, 6 September 2013 (CDT) Is there someone who is continuing the hidan no aria translation in some other website? As some novels are being done like that. User:Ashwathdragon

Hidan no Aria (State reason to abandon (due to licensing) on the Hidan no Aria page?)[edit]

Would we be allowed to put the reason Hidan no Aria is abandoned is due to licensing and publication of the 1st volume already in USA? It would give some closure to the page, which suddenly seems so empty. --Exome (talk) 15:57, 5 September 2013 (CDT)- Exome--Exome (talk) 15:57, 5 September 2013 (CDT)

Done. Sorry, thought KH had done that. DarkoNeko talk 01:50, 6 September 2013 (CDT)

Perhaps while you're at it, can you update Baka to Tesuto to Syokanju=Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu? tehe. ^^ thanks.. Tony Yon (talk) 04:45, 7 December 2013 (CST)
Done :D and Done. DarkoNeko talk 03:36, 8 December 2013 (CST)

Ah, you used lowercase alphabet at "test" and "shoukanjuu", it's kinda out of place. Also, this one is have wrong title: "Saiunkoku_Monogatari|Saiunkoki Monotagari" -- LiTTleDRAgo (Talk) 07:18, 8 December 2013 (CST)

Please delete a page[edit]

and delete this topic too I guess.

Oh and your "talk to me here, click on + to add a section" link is broken - .net instead of .org

Category Revamp Stuff[edit]

  • Pleasure to meet you. xD I'll see what I can do to help you out. Let me know if you need anything in particular. And about the language-redirect thing: If you go back to the thread, they've started to talk about the naming conventions in more detail. Also, it looks like the redirect-extension probably won't work... since the code version is too old. @___@; In either case, I'd be happy to help out with categorization. I think I know what you want, so I'll just follow along. xD Cloudii (talk) 19:53, 1 February 2014 (CST)
  • I also wanted to ask: Is there a reason why you kept Teasers out of the Light Novels category? Aren't teasers a status? They're still Light Novels, right? Cloudii (talk) 01:02, 2 February 2014 (CST)
  • Also, I glanced at the changes you intended to make to the Sidebar. Can I suggest that there somehow be expanding links to to the language light novel categories? If it goes to directly to [[Category:Light Novels]], readers have to go through 3 clicks, whereas right now everyone is used to just making 1. Can I suggest something like this? It'll be easier to transition this way, I think. XD I think some readers might be in shock once they see their beloved sidebar gone. This might make it slightly easier for them.
*Light Novels
**Light Novels (English)
**Light Novels (French)
**Light Novels (Spanish)
**Etc.
*Teasers
**Teasers (English)
**Teasers (French)
*Other Media
**Visual Novels
**Original Light Novels
  • Can we split up the status categories so that they're "Stalled (English)" and not just "Stalled"? I know it's a minor thing... but the math doesn't work right with the magic words with the stats unless the alt languages are kept apart in the categories: Baka-Tsuki:About Cloudii (talk) 15:32, 3 February 2014 (CST)
  • Also, can we change the categories link on the sidebar so that it goes to categories:root instead of listing all the categories? It's getting hard to see with all the names of the authors there. If we do this though, we need to add the remaining not-classified categories to the root category. Cloudii (talk) 15:32, 3 February 2014 (CST)
  • Botherbother Category Intersection Proof of Concept. FYI: I just noticed that TLG already installed the requisite extension needed for category intersections. Cloudii (talk) 13:29, 4 February 2014 (CST)

;) Lery (talk)

User group[edit]

Hello Darkoneko,

I saw your posts on the user pages of inactive editors of Zero no Tsukaima. I take it you're the one responsible for changing people's user groups on this site?

If so, can you add my name to the editor group? I'm currently planning to edit and retranslate majors parts of the ZnT novel.

I've already did some chapters, so you check out my edits if you like.

Kind Regards

Mirrored text in Zoku-Owarimonogatari[edit]

(Whoops, looks like the thread is invisible at the moment until a post edit of mine is approved by a mod.) Double-X (talk) 07:14, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

I see no problem with that, as long as the class name isn't a risk of conflict with something else. DarkoNeko talk 16:08, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
