Clean up

It was starting to get messy so i cleaned it up, feel free to comment and make requests. --Krytyk (talk) 12:49, 27 November 2013 (CST)

I would like to see Asobi ni iku yo being translated seriously, because i liked the anime and was looking forward to see what happens next but the only continuation is the light novel and there's only a teaser on Baka-Tsuki.

Illustration editing

May I know what font did you use for Haganai volume 1 colored illustration? Alsso, is there any way to sharpen a resized LQ picture? If not, that what method do you use for replacing the jap text to english ones? Castor212 (talk) 06:45, 27 November 2013 (CST)

One, i wasn't the one that typesetted the text for haganai, i take it was Omb according to what i see by uploads, so i'm not sure what fonts did he use. Second, it depends on the picture, question is too vague, is the picture blurry? Or maybe it's lots of noise? If its blurry, you can't sharpen it. You have to redraw it via pen/brush and hours of work. If it's just noisy, probably blurring out, denoise tools, softbrushes and manual redrawing by hand. Three for the method i use to replace text, when i have actually time to do such a thing, i redraw everything by hand, just by using brush tool, either pentablet or mouse works here, though i recommend using a pentablet myself. --Krytyk (talk) 12:49, 27 November 2013 (CST)

Wow, redrawing seems very tiring. Is it possible to just use blur and smudge tool? Castor212 (talk) 03:47, 29 November 2013 (CST)

Well that's whole another matter, smudge tool is unusable, blur tool is usable, but you need to know when, and in what situation - you can't ever "accidentally" use blur on lines, means you have to use small brush blur, also it takes time, blur filter, gausian blur filter and topaz - a photoshop addon work as well, but like with everything, you need to know how to use it. Random of tools like blur, or filters will damage the art instead.

Btw, do you happen t have a better ver of SAO 12 and 13 illustration than the ones currently on BT? Castor212 (talk) 09:22, 8 December 2013 (CST)

That's something you should ask Zero2001, if anyone knows anything about these, its him. I've no idea. --Krytyk (talk) 12:11, 8 December 2013 (CST),

Ah, sorry. I asked you because when I messaged him about this, he said he got them from you.Castor212 (talk) 19:32, 9 December 2013 (CST)

Changing the meaning is exactly what I feared^^ I just finished making an account on the forum, if it's okay with you, I’ll send you questions about the parts I’m not sure how I should change. I really appreciate what you are doing so I’d like to give an hand :) --Kiyuta (talk) 20:18, 29 January 2014 (CST)

I have halted my progress in order to work more closely with you. I should let you know there all syntax errors. I really worried about this because it lowers the readability of the text. The grammar issues aren't has important in comparison. Okay one last thing, I going to ask someone with a Doctorate degree (PHD) about "..........". Why should we keep battling over this issue? I think we will both feel better if we get professional help. Lets not be frustrated over the matter anymore. :) --68.3.202.13 02:03, 31 January 2014 (CST)

Okay, redo of the post, I thought you're that other guy who spammed me with edits and insutls today, even so I don't play on changing the dots, also like I said I know first hand how proffessional translators handle the dots. It would be best if you came to IRC so we can discuss the translation directly, you can find me at #[email protected], thanks and sorry if you thought the previous post was about you, it wasnt. Please do log in onto your account -.-. --Krytyk (talk) 03:21, 31 January 2014 (CST)

General Comments

After I'm done with my work, I'm going to expand the project by adding an irc channel and setting up a topic for comments and editing feedback, and creating separate page for terms and terminology/characters and editing guidelines before I continue working on future chapters, no idea though when will that be. Also, I'd say happy birthday, but I'll wait with it until Friday (your birthday is on Friday right?). --Krytyk (talk) 05:47, 11 January 2014 (CST)

ELYSON

About ELYSION, apart from grammar errors and such, I wanted to say that you used "little sister" but also "imouto" when Fuyuki was talking about herself, I'd personally prefer "imouto", but it's your choice, just choose one. I also noticed Rui began to adress to herself as "rui-san" from the second or third part, which confused me a lot, and the same thing applies as to how Taiga calls Fuyuki, at the beginning is just "my little sister" then all of a sudden it became german, can I ask why? I don't think I forgot to mention any other problems, in 10~12 hours I should be working on improving it. I'll try to search for irc guides, I'm such a noob at this.. anyway keep up the good work^^ Kiyuta (talk) 14:02, 24 February 2014 (CST)

Yup, as for why did I decide to use "little sister" and "brother" instead of "imouto" and "ani" which are used, is because I always have and always will prefer complete translation with the least foreign terms possible. And believe me, it sounds weird in japanese as well... not to mention the other girl calling herself with "rui-san". As for the german version - mein Schwester, that's because the original says it in english, i.e. says it in english instead of japanese so I just picked up another foreign language to use. Also Rui always adresses herself as Rui-san, Taiga adresses her with Rui, and Fuyuki calls her Rucchan. I try to use Rui-san and "this little sister" or "the little sister" or "little sister" smartly, but I need to leave this peculiar way of speaking as not to change the content of the novel. I value accuracy over everything else :p. --Krytyk (talk) 14:47, 24 February 2014 (CST)

About Takeru's name

About when Takeru says: 草薙諸刃流かいでん皆伝、草薙たける (Kusanagi Double-Edged style initiate, Kusanagi Takeru.) I just thought it might be nice for you to mention something about his first name as it is written in kanji here, while it is usually written in katakana. Thanks for translating.--Ugdo (talk) 22:19, 27 December 2013 (CST)

Japanese first names are often commonly written in katakana for men, and hiragana for women, depending on complexity of kanji originally used in their names . But on formal documents they're always written with proper kanji. That's the principle behind it. Takeru there is very formal, stating the name of his style, his rank, and full name. There's nothing special about his name as it is written in kanji. The only thing I can do while maintaining accurate translations is to emphasize the formal tone. Though, I might include it in project guidelines or character section I will make in future. --Krytyk (talk) 22:44, 27 December 2013 (CST)

Maou na Ore

Hello, after doing some research I had to change the surname of one of the girls. This means some illustrations have to be corrected. Sorry for the inconveniences.--Kemm (talk) 14:41, 20 January 2014 (CST)

It's German. German's "w" is not read like English's "w" as a half-vowel /w/, but as a full consonant. From what I know, the assigned katakana to German's "w" (except for german words brought via English) are those of the "b" column (at least, in spanish, "w" from german loanwords are read as "b" while those from english loanwords, with some exceptions, are read as "u" from the start of a diphthong, which is close to english "w"). I know I don't have to suggest myself with manga translations, but when I checked in order to give a reasoned tip to them out of goodwill I found that my chosen transcription only exists as the english transcription of a name place in a Final Fantasy game (and I seriously doubt the skills of the game translators at adapting names for that specific series), while the german version of their choice (they still have it wrong), that is also a valid transcription, makes much more sense. --Kemm (talk) 16:48, 20 January 2014 (CST)
Check Katakana for Yu-Gi-Oh's card [Lancer Lindwurm].--Kemm (talk) 17:01, 20 January 2014 (CST)

Yup, Lindwurm is not incorrect, nor is Lindburn, Lindburm or even Lindbloom, translators pretty much have lots of flexibility to use them, generally if a language or a setting is not specified it's a rule to translate it the way it's spoken - that's why i suggested Lindblum as most accurate, but as you said the translations like Lindvurm are not incorrect. I pity iris though because that sounds uncute :P. Well I'll upload it later tonight, I've the psd's for it. --Krytyk (talk) 17:08, 20 January 2014 (CST)

I also regard Linblum as cuter, but my policy is to try to keep the closer possible to the intended sense, and this seems much more likely (and I assume the author knows about Yu-Gi-Oh's cards, since he must play to some other things between Pokemon games).--Kemm (talk) 17:59, 20 January 2014 (CST)

AMA 35 TP

I just noticed you undid my changes for the chapter one for antimagic academy. I would like to ask why and also I would like to ask why you did so without even consulting me?

I'd like to ask you why are you changing terms in my translation project without consulting it, moreover especially that I made an irc channel for any editor who wants to change something major. Like terms, or adding text that is unneccesary and is not there in original japanese raw. That's it, thanks and bye. --Krytyk (talk) 21:15, 30 January 2014 (CST)

Well, Krytyk, obviously you don't want your text to be read by anyone who is remotely english. Your grammar needs work, your terms need hyphenation (i.e. antimagic is not a word) and furthermore, your run-on conversational text blocks can get confusing for someone not doing a hard reading of your text. Do you want people to understand what you are trying to say in the text or are you just making this for your own convenience and you don't care about who reads it? Ultimately, anything I edit is for the readers' and you are not your editor, from the front page. Before you delete stuff, check with your own damn editor. Furthermore, baka-tsuki is about free changes to make things better...you just quashed all of your readers' free will on this project.

Edit elsewhere if you can't abide by rules. That's all I have to say to you. --Krytyk (talk) 21:20, 30 January 2014 (CST)

I will continue to make changes to your document and if you undo them again, I will have to take drastic actions. That's all I have to say to you. --Mosswind (talk) 21:25, 30 January 2014 (CST)

You're forbidden from making any and all changes to my projects, I will undo any change you make. Case closed. --Krytyk (talk) 21:31, 30 January 2014 (CST)

They aren't your projects. Once you post them online, they are all of ours. Get off your high horse. Unfortunately, you can't forbid me from making any changes and the admins have been warned about your dictatorial ways. I will continue to make changes to "your" project in the hopes of making it better. Maybe some day, you will come to realize that you are not the all-powerful being that you think that you are and learn how to take criticism in the form of changes to "your" projects. Thanks for being the worst person on this entire website. It's people like you who feel like they have to grab all the power and the "respect" and can't have anyone else horn in on their territory. I feel sad for you and your little, pathetic life. --Mosswind (talk) 21:38, 30 January 2014 (CST)
