High School DxD[edit]

I'm not too sure about this, but I have a feeling that I should be using commas or full stops before dialogue now that you mention it. The Japanese text has full stops before dialogue most of the time. I'm actually not too sure why I don't put a full stop or comma before dialogue, but if I'm supposed to then I'll do that from now on. My day-to-day usage of English is mostly comprised of reports and business emails so I wouldn't be surprised if I've forgotten the rules on dialogue. In any case, it's a massive job to go back and fix this for every volume and story that I've worked on and I wouldn't expect that of anyone. I'd be happy to leave it as is on the old volumes since it's not a major grammatical issue that affects readability. zxzxzx (talk) 08:11, 25 March 2019 (CET)

Just to add to the above, I've read through a few different style guide / manuals of style for both British and American English. The current translations don't strictly adhere to any particular style, rather, they're a mashup of different rules from different styles. Whilst I always strive for quality even in a fan-translation, I think it would be too tedious to correct all previous text so that it conforms to a particular style, at least for now. The trailing comma before the introduction of a quotation is a commonality across the majority of common styles though, so I'll try to adhere to that from now on. I've always wanted to go through the novels from beginning to end to polish them up, so I'll keep this in mind for then, though I don't think I'll be able to commit that amount of time this year. zxzxzx (talk) 17:13, 25 March 2019 (CET)
