Hey Trabius, I'm currently editing Toradora and was wondering about all the "[]" brackets in your translations. I assume that they exist like that in Japanese version. Would it be alright if I replaced them with more traditional quotations and italics where appropriate? Or do you think that some of them should remain as is? Great job translating by the way. Thanks.

Well, as long as it makes sense, it should probably be okay. Sometimes the imagined parts or even some spoken lines don't have any specific ways to distinguish it from the rest of the text except by context, but I usually separate it for emphasis/nuance even if it looks weird. So if you can think of better ways of doing it, I don't mind a bit. Mostly, it's the italics and brackets along with some single quotation marks that I added, so you might want to look those over as well.

It’s good that you’re emphasizing those parts even if they look weird. It helps the editors out a lot. I just want all the chapters to have the same style and nomenclature. I wonder if it would be worth making a list of standard Toradora conventions.
Don’t worry about making it look perfect, just let the editors work on that since translating is the longest and most difficult part. (Though you probably already knew that.)

Are we using 'bentou' or 'bento'? Bento is what I'm used to. Wikipedia meanwhile uses 'bentō' in the title and 'bento' in the text. Your opinion? Or we could just use 'boxed lunch' lol.

Now that you mention it, I probably should have used boxed lunch in the first place to make it simpler. I hadn't even thought about actually translating it. If you feel like it, you could change them all to boxed lunch, but it would be easier to just use bento since Kinny already used that for volume 1.
I tend to use the same spelling as if I were typing it into Japanese but I don't think the romanization is all that important. It might be a bit much to try and standardize all the transliterations since there are multiple ways of going about it and I never learned the standard system. If we're trying for consistency, I could conform to Kinny's style if that helps any.

When you helped edit PuiPui! you made mention of two paragraphs that seemed to both be said by Yuuya, and you were wondering why because it looked wierd....THANK YOU. I had typed the sentence out in my .txt file, but for some reason missed it with my Copy+Paste to B-T. It's up on the Chapter 1 part now if you want to see it. Again, thanks :)

Stupid Chihuahua vs. Bakachi. 'Palmtop Tiger' is also a nickname. So it doesn't make much sense to translate one and not the other. Thoughts?

Well, in the case of Tenori Taiga-, there isn't any shortening and the nickname would directly translate into 'Palmtop Tiger'. Bakachi-, however, is relatively short compared to bakachiwawa, which is the actual phrase Taiga used to use when calling Ami a 'stupid Chihuahua'. At least to me, it sounds odd to have such a long nickname in English when it's so short in Japanese. I considered defaulting to 'she' or maybe 'idiot' but then it would lose its meaning. Of course, if you can think of a viable alternative, I'd be fully willing to use it.

Im also a fan of To aru majutsu no index and i want to thank you soo much on your translation contributions but lately im seeing the last update you did on the series was the prolouge of volume 9. We would be really be appciated that you could finish the rest of the chapter of the volume as we would want to know what actually happen in the series as there is a continuation part of the event in volume 12 and 13.Again i would like to Thank you very much on your hard work of contributing the series.
