Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon

Magi no Figur

Is that the translation you get? Whats the original text? What's the Romaji? "No" was just a Japanese particle without any meaning right? At least we dont have a "no" in our language, that I am aware of. What is the description of this Magi no Figur? If this really were German I would say it should be Magiefigur (or Magie-Figur) which would be in English Magic Figure, but that would be a noun I never heard so like that. In German we would it probably paraphrase it as "magische Erscheinung". Or if that Magi no Figur were a Magic branch, then I would probably call it Körpermagie (English would it probably be called something like Magic of the Body)

btw. I thought at first as I saw the title of your post "Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon:German" that you were interested in creating a German translation of Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon and were asking for permission or help with that. ;) --Darklor 14:46, 29 November 2011 (CST)

Ah, if it is used as a Magic Focus, than I would say we would probably paraphrase it as "magische Figur" (English probably like a Magic Object) and a noun as a combination of those two words were "Magiefigur", but probably we wouldnt it call it like that ourself. How is this "Magi Figur" described? (Is it described as humanoid?)

Is that word "Floren" used as in florae/floras? or as in Trauerflor (which would be black ribbon/crape) --Darklor 15:47, 29 November 2011 (CST)

Ah, no problem. So what will you use? --Darklor 16:38, 29 November 2011 (CST)

Editing for Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon

Hi hi, so i'm dropping by on your talk page to ask, how do i apply edits and everything...like I mean, most of my edits are going to be major and heavy edits, so is there a way for it the page to show the edits, and wait for approval from translators? I'm new to editting on these online wiki's, since i've helped edit the Akai Ito VN translation, however it was simply link the page on a page document, place original lines, then put the editted line under it, and continue on like that, which i then sent to the translator, and after checking the lines he would then add in the appropriate ones.

Hahah no problem, I had wanted to give back to the community, since being a free leecher and all that doesn't really sit well with me. But it's not that easy editting this novel, since i think the language the author uses is quite convoluted and fancy, so for now i'm going to be focusing on making it read decently in English, before anything else such as extravagant descriptions and all that. Skarlath 16:25, 7 December 2011 (CST)

Wait, isn't it supposed to be 'Editing'? --larethian 19:39, 7 December 2011 (CST)

Ahahah now that's really embarrassing, sorry about that. It was a rushed job, since I had been doing this during the exam period, so I made this without checking too much. Actually you'll probably find a couple of typo's due to the fact that I normally type quickly, and usually let MS Word to autocorrect. So my apologies in advance if anyone finds anything wrong. Skarlath 21:31, 8 December 2011 (CST)

And Yoake, there are a couple of phrases/sentences that I can't make sense of, so check the discussion page for the prologue, and I'll put the parts that I don't know what the translation means, and it'd be nice if you explained them. Skarlath 21:31, 8 December 2011 (CST)

Yeah, it took too long, so I'm going to edit the rest without looking at the raws. I'll leave my Japanese learning time to be when I translate Date A Live. --jonathanasdf 22:20, 2 January 2012 (CST)

異空間

Literally it would be like "weird space" or "abnormal space" or something but I think it can generally be translated to "different dimension" or "alternate dimension". Eg. Fuzetsu in Shana could be considered a 異空間. This is based on what it would be in Chinese though, I don't know if it has a different meaning in Japanese and it might depend on context. Why are you asking me this anyways? --jonathanasdf 16:43, 25 December 2011 (CST)

jonathanasdf is right. Itsuten has both 異空間 and 異世界, and that's what it means. "Different/Alternate/Other/Foreign". --larethian 20:56, 25 December 2011 (CST)

If you're sure it's a proper noun then you can try checking the wiki and see if they have anything for it, otherwise I think you can give it any fitting name depending on the context (ie. what's in it, how it is created, or any other kind of inspirations like that) --jonathanasdf 14:47, 26 December 2011 (CST)

No problem, I don't doubt your understanding. VN players are usually very strong in vocab even when they are self taught. Just thought you need a possible English word for it XD --larethian 12:59, 28 December 2011 (CST)

So, after seeing the context in Vol1 History I think "different dimensions" or even "parallel dimensions/universes" might fit better than Differing Space since it doesn't seem to be being used as a proper noun. Eg. "As a solution, people copied the Divine States to different dimensions." --jonathanasdf 14:24, 9 January 2012 (CST)

I see.. I didn't know that they were just floating in the sky and isn't actually in a different dimension... At least from Vol1 History there's no way to tell that. Ok then. --jonathanasdf 11:07, 10 January 2012 (CST)

Hidan no Aria

nice joke

nice joke lol

Dunno why my edits were reverted, they were correcting minor errors. The current version (Chap 1,V8) has my edits in them anyway though, perhaps I just don't know how this works. -WanWanDiscoFever

I rolled back the change to 7.62mm, as the light novel raws explicitly stated that it was 162mm. However, I accidentally reverted the edit from 'learly' to 'early', which I promptly fixed. After about 5 minutes, I realized how stupid a 162mm bullet actually was, and changed it back to your edit. I apologize if I offended you in any way by reverting your edits, which were undoubtedly correct. -YoakeNoHikari 09:16, 21 September 2011 (CDT)

No offense taken, just curious. - WanWanDiscoFever

You Rock

Us fans cannot thank you enough for your super-duper translation speed and accuracy. You're our BFF forever and ever! asteradragon 30 April 2011 (EST)

You're very welcome - YoakeNoHikari 07:46, 1 May 2011 (UCT)

Couldn't agree more. You seem to be updating every weekend like clockwork. Thank you for your time, Hikari. But umm, just don't neglect yourself! Take a break if needed. -Blackfaia

In the name of Reki, you must continue! =D

Please, I beg you.... Your doing an awesome job! Since the anime is only going up to 12 episodes im putting all my hopes on the light novels... If you need any help, I cant directly assist you, but I can assemble other translators that can help possibly. Keep it up, I believe in you =) Dont be a hero, if you need help, say so, there are like 4 inactive people, so please tell me.

If you have 4 inactive people that are willing to translate...Whatever. Do as you like, I'm fine with or without help. This is a wiki, anyways. If you think that they can help, then by all means, go ahead, this is a translation commons. - YoakeNoHikari 09:13, 10 May 2011 (UCT)

I'll see what I can do

I'm sure you will. - YoakeNoHikari 15:45, 12 May 2011 (UCT)

Your Welcome. Yes, go ahead and stick with the author's original intent in the novel. Sooo....yeah I added some info on user page. Btw thanks for adding my name on Hidan no Aria. - Hiro Hayase

Hey hikari, i was wondering if it was ok if i went back through all of the HnA translations so far and replaced Tooyama/Tohyama with "Tōyama", as "Tōyama" seems to be the proper spelling so far as i can tell. As it is your translation, i won't do it without your go ahead. Bzk3000 21:11, 16 May 2011 (UCT)

If you're going to do blackburn letters for one name, you're going to have to do it for all the names in all the novels. Are you sure you want to do that? It's not as if Tohyama is an incorrect romanization. - YoakeNoHikari 22:40, 16 May 2011 (UCT)

Nor did i say tohyama was an incorrect spelling. Someone else had mentioned that some of the volumes had tohyama while other had had tooyama, and i was just trying to figure out which one should be used or if you wanted to leave tohyama as is. That's why i asked before actually doing the aforementioned change. You're translating, and if you believe that Tohyama is correct, then you are right in this stance. Bzk3000 23:01, 16 May 2011 (UCT)

I'm fine with anything, but like you, I'd prefer for everything to be standardized. The one that I've been using all along is Tohyama, and I think that's been used the most, so I'd appreciate if you could change all Tooyama to Tohyama. - YoakeNoHikari 23:27, 16 May 2011 (UCT)

Will do. I think that blackfaia has taken care of most of them, but i'll double check. Bzk3000 23:34, 16 May 2011 (UCT)

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. - YoakeNoHikari 23:37, 16 May 2011 (UCT)

I should be thanking you. You're translating HnA so that everyone here can enjoy it. I'm merely trying to help you. Bzk3000 23:50, 16 May 2011 (UCT)

Alright, it looks like every "Tooyama" has been changed to "Tohyama", so I think we are good. Also, while checking, I noticed in volume 3 that Kinichi has an apostrophe (Kin'ichi), and I was wondering if that was a mistake or if it was cause of an accent or a different translation. I left is as was, but it is at the part where Vlad changes into HSS. Bzk3000 00:16, 17 May 2011 (UCT)

Ah, when the kanji or whatever ends with the character ん or ン (n), the ' is used to denote it as such. Think about it this way, you can have kin-ichi, or kini-chi. See the difference? The ' is used to make it clear that the 'n' is its own character. However, when romanizing, it isn't always necessary. That's the thing about romaji. Personally, I don't think the readers are advanced enough to tell the difference, so I'd leave it out. - YoakeNoHikari 00:29, 17 May 2011 (UCT)

Very well, as the title states. I'll fix it Bzk3000 00:46, 17 May 2011 (UCT)

Ok, it looks like every spelling issue and such is gone concerning the Tohyama family. Bzk3000 01:14, 17 May 2011 (UCT)

Thank you sooooooooo much for actively translating Hidan no Aria! I really don't know how to leave comments on this site well, but I just really wanted to express how glad I am you are an active translator!! I look forward to your accurate, punctual, and interesting translations ahead! :D

YoakeNoHikari(Light of Dawn) your doing a great job with Hidan no Aria, keep it up, your awesome! ~from a fan who occassionally makes some corrections with spelling or grammar for many light novel translations~ Li

Why, thank you for translating my name, you should become a translator yourself. - YoakeNoHikari 17:15, 17 May 2011 (UCT)

HnA AA

I was looking into some more HnA stuff, and came across the fact that Hina and Tohyama were apparently partners in HnA AA. Any clues? Bzk3000 01:22, 18 May 2011 (UCT)

About what? Yes, they're partners. However, Kinji doesn't make much of an appearance in AA. - YoakeNoHikari 01:49, 18 May 2011 (UCT)

My question was, what does the AA stand for? Because I;m totally missing something, so I'm trying to figure it out. Bzk3000 02:21, 18 May 2011 (UCT)

It stands for double A. Who knows. - YoakeNoHikari 08:15, 18 May 2011 (UCT)

I don't know how to comment either... but ya I just had to thank you for Hidan No Aria! thank you for translating =D I really enjoyed the series. Thank you! Hopefully I'll be fluent enough to translate LN like you one day! --JohnyBeGood 05:16, 7 May 2011 (UCT)

I'm planning on finishing Hidan no Aria, sorry. - YoakeNoHikari 13:50, 3 April 2011 (EDT)

Please dont make requests directly to the translators. They do what they can. Post in the forum instead of bugging them. No offence intended. Love /--Novium 21:33, 3 April 2011 (EDT)

Do you intend to finish Vol 8 of HnA, since Ch1 is finished and Ch 2 is at 12%?

Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon Cleaned English Scans

I was wondering if I can apply as an editor? I was mainly planned to clean the scans from the novels and add english text onto them, I've attached an scan from the first novel that was cleaned and edited, but was wondering if I can become an editor to upload more of these? (I have more scans cleaned and added text, just want to know if I can upload them. I also like to spend time reading through and making sure there are no errors in the uploaded chapters so far.

Thanks (Link2link8)

Thank you, I'll doing my best with whatever I can do, and yeah, I find that it's great and fun working with others, I won't let you down.

Oh, thought I might let you know this (though it's most likely a troll post) after S2 ended, some guy appeared saying this on /a/:

So, I hate to be a tease, but... Over the last year or so I've been translating the Horizon novels for myself as part of learning Japanese during college, and actually used the first 200 pages or so of Volume 2-A as part of a project to translate a piece of literary work from Japanese into English, and scored a flawless 100 percent. So far I have 1A/B and 2A/B translated, with 3A about 178 1/2 pages so far done. Is there a specific place you would prefer to have me look into uploading them, such as Baka-Tsuki, or just a plain Mediafire archive upload? It'll be a few days before I can, as I'm away from home right now attending a funeral, but it'll be no problem once I get home.

Just thought I'd let you know in case it turns out to be true, I've been monitoring threads and if he doesn't appear anytime next week then it's most likely a troll. Oh, and I think it'd be brilliant if you continue to translated the series, in any case I'll be helping out in whatever way I can.

(Link2link8)

Oh thanks, took a while trying to pick out the font for the images and very glad that you liked it, glad it fits.

Also, I'm really happy that translations are picking up faster (I want to thank you so many times haha), that and seeing a translator working on 3A is even better.

Haha, no worries at all, I quite enjoy working on the scans, as the translation sounds better like you said, I'll more than happy to follow you up on that, making a bulk set and uploading them all at the same time, that's why it seems I've not posted much since.
