Re: Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: General
I thought so too but there should be at least a few sentences that states what happened to the prisoners(whether Masaki brought them to the Magic Association Branch,Kazama, orJuumonji etc etc.) Plus the line
bothers me. I think it implies that something happened to him that resulted in him being removed from the front lines(incapacitated? captured?) Or maybe I'm just overthinking thingsHowever, Masaki did not notice that this action would remove him from the front lines.

I think you are just over thinking things. I think it means exactly what it says. The action of going into that part of the city did indeed take him away from the front lines. Doesn't mean anything bad happened to him. And if something bad had happened to him I believe it would have been stated.sinnershot67 wrote:I thought so too but there should be at least a few sentences that states what happened to the prisoners(whether Masaki brought them to the Magic Association Branch,Kazama, orJuumonji etc etc.) Plus the linebothers me.

random question.
are there any info about Juumonji if he is also through training like Hell ?
i forget where i read it.
I don't really know, but considering his personality(stern, battle-hardened), build(HUGE guy), and the fact that he is the next heir of the Juumonji Family then yes, we can assume that he did train like "hell." :)
really ?
then it's just reader assumption, thanks

My question got lost by requiring approval before, so I'll ask it again:
Haxton Fale wrote:I have a question to translators and people who can read this in original:
How does Mahouka compare to other light novels? Does it still "qualify" as light novel? I have my doubts about it after seeing the contents, but I don't know what makes a novel "light".

Light novel is not about the size of the book ( shorter than novel and lower price ) also about the content, i think mahouka is targeting for young adult demographic.

So, Dreyakis is currently taking a break, but he should be back soon.Dreyakis wrote:Wow, I go AWOL for 2 weeks and we have a new forum...
I think it's about time to get back to work on Mahouka then.
Many thanks to all who were involved in the process.

According to Dreyakis' user page, it should be out on May 11th, so just a little over 11 month away from now (hoping he meant 2014 there, and not 2020)Ehsan wrote:I wonder when there will be a new chapter.

Re: Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: General
I think Masaki was also really tired during his fight with the magicians in the building since it was a long fight which was not suited for his magic. And I personally believe Jummonji did not go through training like Tatsuya did. His training was literally hell, if you lose you die. Its been a while so my memory might be a bit off but they fought to the death as the strongest rule, as the major pointed out even from here (when visiting the head) he can smell (or sense?) death despite the shut down lab being so far away (or deep underground). And also how he remarked how young recruits from the Yotsuba always seem so capable (since they previously had real combat experience ie. have their lives on the line). And tatsuya is covered in scars that display signs of torture as well as hard training, I doubt jummonji had to receive torture training (well his regrowth magic is a testament to his mental and physical strength).
My personal opinion anyways, maybe some personal views could be mixed in this as I read through the LN and cant distinguish facts from my thoughts.

I agree, it's up to the readers on how they interpret things which is fun its own right. It's actually quite fun reading through other's take in this, since I'm not confident that I have a firm grasp of the whole picture.
I see, I knew it: I'm overthinking this. I've been influenced too much with mangas/LN/anime with those themes 'Gohankuten wrote:think it means exactly what it says. True, I also think Tatsuya's experience certainly defines training through "Hell" but my take on Katsuto's situation is a little different "hell" than Tatsuya's experience; which is the burden of being the Heir of the Juumonji Family. Although it pales in comparison with Tatsuya's past, being a heir of the Juumonji is still a heavy burden considering the responsibilities and implications accompanying the title. It's been implied that he's been trained like that ever since he was young since I remembered it's been mentioned before that he has the attitude who's prepared to shoulder the burden of being the heir of the Juumonji, that at least deserves some credit. But then again, from the very beginning it's just wrong to compare Tatsuya and Katsuto's experience; I mean it does not even compare.Captain127 wrote:Its been a while so my memory might be a bit off but they fought to the death as the strongest rule, as the major pointed out even from here (when visiting the head) he can smell (or sense?) death despite the shut down lab being so far away (or deep underground). I think it still qualifies as a light novelA light novel (ライトノベル raito noberu?) is a style of Japanese novel primarily targeting middle and high school students (young adult demographic).[1][verification needed] "Light novel" is a wasei-eigo, or a Japanese term formed from words in the English language. Such short, light novels are often called ranobe (ラノベ?)[2] or LN in the West. They are typically not more than 40,000–50,000 words long (the shorter ones being equivalent to a novella in US publishing terms), rarely exceed 200 pages, often have dense publishing schedules, are usually published in bunkobon size, and are often illustrated.[3] The text is often serialized in anthology magazines before collection in book form.
In recent years, light novel stories have been popular choices for adaptation into manga, anime, and live-action films (for example, the light novels of Tatsuhiko Takimoto have been adapted into all). Light novels are often serialized in literary magazines such as Faust, Gekkan Dragon Magazine, The Sneaker and Dengeki hp, or media franchise magazines like Comptiq and Dengeki G's Magazine.

Re: Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: General
I have heard it noted that you can tell a book is a light novel if it has an anime/manga-esque picture of a character on the front cover. That description whilst possibly not 100% accurate, is probably getting close to five nines'.sinnershot67 wrote:According to Wikipedia:I think it still qualifies as a light novelA light novel (ライトノベル raito noberu?) is a style of Japanese novel primarily targeting middle and high school students (young adult demographic).[1][verification needed] "Light novel" is a wasei-eigo, or a Japanese term formed from words in the English language.

Re: Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: General
For me, I think light novels are unconventional stories, compared to the "normal" ones.. LOL (no idea what is the noun used for the usual ones.)
The usual ones are those that has stories that feel more dramatic like the Harry Potter for an English example.
So rather than anime/manga charactor on the book, light novels have a more anime/manga-like theme in them. Just my point of view and not really sure if anyone make a similar comment though..
(Not Really disagreeing against you, denormative so dun block me to your pdf downloads.. )
With regards to masaki, i think it is just the literal action that because he has to escort the prisoners, he won't be on the front-line due to the fact that most likely due to the quick finishing, even if he wants to come back, its already over.
Anyway, on a side note, My Salute of Respect to Yotsuba Genzou. (-_-)
