Not really... Watched the anime, quite interesting, and I heard that the novel is much better. But we always face the big problem of lack of translators.

It would be nice if someone could post more of a synopsis, maybe a little bit of a spoiler to let us know a bit more of the story? If possible, a teaser would be good.

Finally got my paws on volume 1.

Comments:

Theme: Dark, with salvation.

Spoilers from novel:
Spoiler! :
A guy(probably cursed?) is working to help people in trouble. Appointed by his teacher(also someone he admires), he is to take care of a young girl(more like tricked to take care of her). This girl is arrogant and straightforward. However, because of her boldness and straightforwardness, she becomes like sun to the protagonist, since the protagonist seeks death to some extent, and has a lack of confidence. However, unlike most novels, the protagonist has quite a reason for the way he is, unlike most other novels. When he was young, he went overseas with his family. Sadly, his family was involved in a terrorist attack, and his parents and sister all died... Leaving him all alone...

His childhood friend's family took care of him, but he has always wanted to die, so as to join his family. However, he is afraid to take his own life.

One day, his childhood friend dragged him out to cheer him up and have fun. Unfortunately(cursed, isnt he), they encountered a foreign children abducting group. All the children cried in fear, and some were killed, shot in the head etc. As the abductors are trying to get his childhood friend, he steps forward, hoping to die. However, instead, a woman came forth and thrashed these abductors. Deeply in awe of her might, he requests her to take him in as her disciple... And thus started his new life.
Comparison with anime:
Spoiler! :
I watched the anime first, so i am able to visualize it more easily. In the first volume, it went till the protagonist snatching murasaki back from her family. However, there are differences with the anime. For example, The anime has a lot more stories before the fight for murasaki. At the same time, the ending is slightly different. In the anime, Murasaki chose to go back to the family and fight against the might of the family. In the novel, Murasaki was given permission to join the outside world. But she still went back to the protagonist's side.

The novels are quite well done, except i cant accept the endings and power balance... It is not bad, the story telling and developments, but its not the best kinda story out there...

This is my opinion as a reader of the series... Wonder when the next vol will be up?

try to give me some specific but vague criticism about this ending and power balance without spoiling.

Ermm... I try my best... But its hard with the "no-spoiler" limit...

How about err... The main char is stronger than a train? He can do more damage than a train, in a sense?

And erm... hes a big lolicon... His soul burns from lolis?

And hes naive, yet his naiveness tends to work out? For happy endings?

Personally, i think its dead. Not too sure why, especially since the manga still seems to be on-going, maybe the anime even? Weird that the novel seems dead instead.

The latest chapters of the manga got me in the mood, so I translated the first chapter of this:
http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index ... le=Kurenai

I may continue eventually, but for now I'll just be leaving it at this.

Ui, I missed that, but I think its obvious now that a teaser project with a feedback thread gets a higher view count... ;)

btw. merged thread with older one...

I second this, i think kurenai has a “new setting“ different from others light novels and its kinda refreshing
And you guys should not make a fuss about the incest thing, or are you saying oreimo is “disgusting“ just because of the incest? im not even sure it contains incest at all
