Who to PM for petitions?

Post by Sharramon »

Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong section.....

I'm trying to petition a light novel series called Sword Art Online(viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3128&p=58797#p58797). I've read the guidelines for it but there's one thing.... most of the people that Onizuka told me to PM or mail (including him) are mostly inactive and don't visit this site much. Which got me wondering if things have sort of changed since that post was posted.

So the actual question is: Who do I PM or mail?

Oni is still active.

You need translator support and a source for the product, and need to open up a poll in a thread, which you seem to have already done.

Find a dedicated translator and an editor, get the source material (raw text, scanned images, etc), then you'll be ready to start the wiki page. You should be able to skip the whole poll process if you can manage to come up with those key things. Once that is done PM Vaelis (he's active) and he can set up the wiki page and anything else you need relating to that, unless of course you know wiki code yourself. At some point throw a PM Oni's way with your progress. He doesn't really do much here so that part is least important. :P

If you think you have enough material translated to start the project, then you could go ahead and create the project page for your project. If you re not that sure you could start it first as a teaser project (a teaser project dont need a completed chapter and to get started. ;))

The creation of a page is not that hard. Also you could use the project page of another project as a template.

If you have done all the things that are required to get a project started and no other complications are coming up, then normally a project gets the approval to go on

If the prologue werent that short I think a teaser project could already be started... ;) (At the moment I think even I could create the framework for a page like that ;))

Really?
I've finished the first chap (it's only about 6 pages O.o) and done 3 or so pages of the second right now(the second's about 20 pages... I think. I'll have to check) the story is about 25 chaps long so the first would have been the shortest one....
I'm still not sure about the wiki pages though... since all I've ever done in any wiki was to edit stuff XD

I wanted to start a wikipedia page on SAO(there isn't one yet to my surprise) but failed due to not knowing what to do .... heh.

I'm still waiting for an OK signal. I think I've sent like 6 PMs to different people so far but no reply T.T

Ah, that are really short chaps...

Should I create the page as a teaser project so that you can edit it and add all the necessary informations?

If you can be bothered that'd be a huge help ^^

I don't know where to get the illustrations from the light novel though O.o

Apart from that I shouldn't have any problem editing and as I said I already have a chap on standby so sure.

A big and hearty thanks!

Also does a series have to have one book finished to be classified as 'active'?

Usually it's one chapter for the project to be approved.
But since the chapters are so short in this series, I think it needs at least around 30 translated pages.
When you will have completed chapter 2 it should be more or less ok.

Btw you can upload part of the chapter even if it isn't complete (I'm saying that because for chapter 2 you put the percentage "10%" and then removed it).

Since chapter 2 has been uploaded, I've changed the teaser project into a project pending authorisation.

Ah thanks for telling me all those things.
I think I'll try and upload a whole chapter at once, it seems better that way. Giving readers 10 lines to read a day would suck....

Also I better try and get chap 3 asap then!

I think you should update it as often as possible. It will give anyone who's editing something to work on. Just slap on a percentage on the chapter title so readers know it isn't complete.
