New character names
okay, I am nearing the part where the new characters are going to make their appearances.
at this moment, I have three middle school classmates or schoolmates of Kyon to be named. you can see that I named them MSC1, MSC2 and MSC3 in the translation at this moment. there is also the alternate SOS Brigade. there will be an alternate Haruhi, Yuki, Asahina and Itsuki.
we do not exactly need to name them, since they already have their japanese names. I just need someone to let me know how they should be wrote in english, since it should be apparent by now that I work from the chinese version, and there is no way I could pinyinise (like how the chinese get a english name) the names to be used here.
so people like Akiha and smidge, hope you could lend a helping hand here =) those of you who have the original japanese copy are welcome to help too.

I have an access to the Japanese version of volume 9.
In the original version,
MSC1(佐々木) is read "Sasaki"
By the same token,
MSC2(須藤) : "Sudoh" or "Sudou"
MSC3(岡本) : "Okamoto"
If you don't know how to pronounce
"橘 京子", who had abduct Asahina-san in the volume 7, you can call her "Tachibana Kyoko (or Kyouko)". (for your information, 橘 is her last name and 京子 first name)
And "藤原" , who is another time traveler and was in ther car with Kyoko in the volume 7, is "Fujiwara".
Also "周防 九曜",who is an android with black hair, is "Suoh (or Suou) Kuyoh " . (Kuyouh is pronounced Ku-Yoh)
I hope my information would be useful for you and apologize for my poor English.

Japanese has many kinds of first personal pronoun:
"wa-ta-shi"(formal when guys use, used by women in any circumstance),
"wa-ta-ku-shi"(very formal),"bo-ku"(polite, used by guys),
"o-re"(informal, used by guys),"u-chi"(mainly used by girl) etc...
It's difficult even for Japanese...
But keep in mind that these differences between men and women NEVER mean promotion of sexism. It's like German sort nouns into masculine noun and feminine noun.

Which is also why some parts are so annoying to translate. In Chinese (and Japanese if I'm not mistaken), there is a single kanji to represent both 'him' and 'her' (i/e: can be used for both boys and girls), which makes it easy for the author to pull a gender-switch at the end. Not so with English
