Itsuki Iba, the protagonist, the leader of "Astral".

As a weak and feeble human, just like his father, embarks on a quest to change the magical world. He does so by being the middleman, the judge of a magical duel never imagined by anyone in the magical world.

A magical duel between the very basis on magic is formed in the modern age, "Association", and the Dark Magician's Society, Ophion, the society that symbolizes the power of Magic, and intends to free Magic from its current limitations, and bringing it to the world.

Due to Astral's weakness, it was not worth the time to crush such a society, and both sides have intentions to end the endless war between them, and so Itsuki Iba, grabbed the opportunity, and used his position to be judge of this crazy battle. 7 Association members, against 9 members of Ophion, with Association being allowed to get help from external influences twice to make up for the lack in numbers.

After much hassle, the way to determine the victor of this duel is finally revealed.

Itsuki Iba: "So long as the participants of 'Association' or 'Ophion' defeats me------Itsuki Iba, in a magical format within the three days stated would be declared the victor."

Adding in another crazy prize, and a lot of unspoken tactics and trickery, Itsuki Iba intends to make a difference to the world. He intends to survive the three days, so no one can win. But even so, what does he want to achieve?

However, he isn't alone. The ultimate prize, the "Forbidden seed", was stolen. By not Association, nor Ophion. But by Astral. His father, returned, to do what Itsuki is incapable of, to accomplish the goal of changing the world in a way different from his son. The originally two way battle complicates to a four way battle, between Association, Ophion, Astral and EX-Astral.

Association seeks to maintain order, even if they have to cower in shadows, and lose against Science.

Ophion seeks to reshape the world, even if it could end the world.

Astral seeks to achieve happiness for all, even Mages, even if most Mages don't want such "happiness".

EX-Astral seeks to create a new God in the realm of Mages, so happiness may be possible.

How will the battle go? How will things end? And what would this end lead to?

Itsuki Iba's father,Iba Tsukasa (Judaix Tholoide, his mechanical doll and Sekiren, Itsuki's teacher has showed their will to fight in his cause) returned, stole the seed from Astral, and was captured by Association. He engages conversation with the "God" of Association, implying that there are currently two Gods in the magical world, one in Association, the other in Ophion, and shows desire to create a new one by Astral(or consider it cosmic) magic, as Earth is just one planet after all.

Honami Takase Ambler and Ren Nekoyashiki are still currently on loan to Association, but seems to want to dig up the truth towards the forbidden seed and how Itsuki's fate became entangled with it, but met with 2 members of Ophion, perhaps to engage in a duel.

Goetia and The Silver Knights, as they are overly massive in size and overly influential, despite being allies to Astral, they offer minimum help to ensure the fairness of the duel(especially to the eyes of outsiders). Goetia helps host a magical circle that allows the victor to use the magical channels in the region to use the Forbidden Seed immediately or when he so wishes, but is channeled by a traitor who has joined Ophion. Ophion on the other hand intends to use the circle for their own purposes to ensure their victory, while the traitor has his own personal grudges to deal with.

On the other hand, before the duel began, visited his old friends/clients, as if bidding them farewell, thus enlisting their help as part of the Astral force in this duel. Despite the lack of power as mighty as Association or Ophion, the rules set allows this and does not restrict Astral in any way, unlike Association and Ophion, thus making Astral a force to be reckoned with as well.

Mikan Katsuragi and her sister, under the request/order of Itsuki, are purifying one of the three magical channels(not the one that is being taken over by Ophion, talked about later) in the region.

Lapis is currently taken out for at least half a day, due to Iba Tsukasa and Sekiren's attack to steal the forbidden seed.

Ophion messed up with one of the magical channels in the area of the duel, and thus Itsuki Iba brought a few people to challenge them. Ophion has also thus understood the true potential of the magical channels in the area, implying "Astral", the "Dragon" that Iba named.

I can't check it out now because I have to prepare for the exams which end in November... but if I get the opportunity, I might check out the chinese series... and then, if possible, translate? I'm tentatively thinking about it. Can someone send the chinese chapters to my mail for me to check out? Might need editors, though.

The source might be a problem, though. I think you'll have more success asking other (chinese) translators where do they get theirs (i've heard about lightnovel.cn).

Yeah. I'll have to do some research on mythology first, touch up on some areas I'm not sure of. I see... Nevermind, I've found a page for chinese translations. Taking a look at it now.

I understand this, but I thought it was clear I do NOT know where such material is, given the fact that I can't read japanese nor chinese, hence do NOT know what's written on those sites. FWIU, it could be a giant RickRoll site.

^ LOL, you must be kidding me. You can get both Jpn and Mandarin versions at Kino. SZH, myself, Teh_Ping, Dragonst, Cosmic Eagle, florza, and a few others whom I've probably missed are all from SG.
