Yeah, this is a good find, now, who wants to go change all the in-text terminology? oh, and the terminology page as well.

Kains -> Kainz

But it was spelt in English letters in the novel.
My eyesight isn't the best in the world, but I can differentiate an "s" from a "z", at the very least.
It's either a miss on the anime staff's side, or they decided to change the names.
Either way, we're translating the novel, so Kains would stay as Kains anyway.
(Woah, someone noticed it on the JP side too. No one mentioned Kuradeel, though.)
And I would rather wait for Misogi to confirm on the Kuradeel issue before dismissing it with this image.

I took care of the Chapter 2 of Volume 1, I don't have a lot of time now to change everything.

Re: Sword Art Online - Names and Terminology
I listed the names below. Even if they are correct, the names marked with "Unknown" will be checked with the anime. Diabel and Argo will be checked with episode 2's full version.
Note that this list isn't complete, the future ones will be added when it's needed.
For Kains, is there a way to check the latest printings of SAO, to see if it was corrected?
Names' spelling to change
Kirito - Confirmed
Cline -> Klein - Confirmed
Kayaba Akihiko - Confirmed
Argo - Unknown
Asuna - Confirmed
Coper - Unknown
Diabel - Unknown
Egil -> Agil - Confirmed
Kibaou - Confirmed
Kains -> Kainz - Unsure
Keita - Confirmed
Lizbeth -> Lisbeth - Likely
Sachi - Likely
Scilica -> Silica - Likely
Yui - Likely
Cradil -> Kuradeel - Unsure
Heathcliff - Likely

Re: Sword Art Online - Names and Terminology
Sachi and Yui are Japanese names, so I doubt there's any problems there.
Do find out about Coper, though.
It could be translated to lots of other stuff, like Copel, Coppel, Koper, etc.

Re: Sword Art Online - Names and Terminology
That's why I added that.
For Coper, his name doesn't start with K, judging with the picture. It's not sure if we can check his name in the anime.
Warning : This is related to the anime, you have been warned.
But I'll change them on "Likely" status.Misogi wrote:Even if they are correct, the names marked with "Unknown" will be checked with the anime.

Shouldn't we put the status of the names on the first page for quick reference?

I don't know if I can do it.
Well, I won't update it until SAO starts.

Re: Sword Art Online - Names and Terminology
The guy's name: "Junie Black" in 6-16 and "Johnny Black" in "Murder case" and vol.9.
IMHO Johnny Black sounds better.

Re: Sword Art Online - Names and Terminology
It's either Endou or Endō, as for Johnny Black, JP text actually pronounces joe-ny, but Johnny Depp name is written the same way in JP (ジョニー) so I decided to use Johnny instead of Jonie/Johnie.

Re: Sword Art Online - Names and Terminology
Hello, I just wanted to ask is it Starting City or Town of Beginnings, cause the anime says one thing and the LN translation says another. I just wanted to ask in order to settle a mild problem with the wiki.
