According to ME1, it was a middle-boss, which roams the field, not floor boss guarding stairs to the next floor. In Rondo, they will have to deal with middle boss too, look forward to it.

Re: SAO Anime Discussion Thread
I think they did a good job mixing it up. (ME1 x SAO v8 c1)
But then they cut out a lot of stuff and that's bad.
They're hurrying through too fast. They should just extend it to 39 eps (or even better, 51 eps. And include everything including GGO and Mother's Rosario with an extension ready for UW).
I really hate story butchers. I don't mind them adding new arcs and fixing small details but removing huge chunks is just wrong. Take Aria. They could have kept everything and done damage control by changing the dialogue's where Asuna tells about falling in love with Kirito. Something like, she began admiring him after the events of Aria and fell in love with him after v8c1. It would have worked better that way.

Re: SAO Anime Discussion Thread
The boss from ME1 was a special boss linked directly to the village and the valley connected to it. By making the boss impossible to beat from the front and big enough to be a one-man phalanx 300 style, it became a sort of "main quest" to figure out a way to get behind it.
They managed to salvage Asuna's characterization, at least. They really did the bare minimum for Asuna, just enough to make a coherent story until Fairy Dance, but not enough for, say, Mother's Rosario. I know I shouldn't expect them to get that far(getting greenlit for a season 2 is always uncertain), but they dashed all hopes of it happening.

Oh, yeah. I totally know how that feels. I would have been happy if they included Rondo and First Day and make 24 episodes out of the Aincrad arc only...Zero2001 wrote:I think they did a good job mixing it up. (ME1 x SAO v8 c1)

Why is it that the LNs are always crushed while the longer manga are done perfectly?I really hate story butchers. Reki Kawahara should stop taking this and just go bash in the anime director's head for such butchery. It's because the LN writers put up with this that this happens in the first place.

Except we'll never know how much was done with his consent. I heard he tried to get as involved as possible, and if all his efforts amount to this, then change needs to come from animation studios themselves.

Re: SAO Anime Discussion Thread
It's because the writers don't have any backbone. Have you seen Oreimo anime. There was this episode where Kirino was called in to discuss her Light Novel being converted into an anime and the anime makers began discussing how to "make her story better". Similarly, there are guys that just force the LN writers into situations by saying that they have more experience or such, plus they gang up against the writer. With the number of people against them, plus the fact how much writers want their work to be made into an anime, some writers just cave in. Of course there are the opposite, anime makers who stay as close as possible to the story without distorting it. Hat's off to them. Good job.
I think the anime makers just couldn't cope with all the timeleaps in SAO Aincrad Arc and thus cut more than they needed. They must be trying to hurry until they get to the stable time period since they're more experienced with stable timeline type stories. But they're going overboard with the cuts.

Or rather they should have just stuck with Vol 1, 3, 4, etc and released the vol 2 and side stories as OVAs. That would have been even better.

It's much easier to animate a bunch of still pictures than multiple pages of text. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I'm fine with the anime. I can find it good, IMO, and wath it without reading the LN (if I couldn't, it'd be sad).

Re: SAO Anime Discussion Thread
Is it me or "A Murder Case in the Area" is like a feuilleton ?
It's still better than a soap opera which is airing here in the afternoon : The Young and the Restless. Kira and all the French members will know what it is when they find the French name. It's giving me shivers...
Oh yeah, I think SAO is good until now, but with a slight disappointment.
