Re: Hidan no Aria [Aria the Scarlet Ammo]
So I was translating the prologue of Volume 1 for practice when I noticed the version hosted here left out some details in the text. Do you think a second version of it (and possibly chapter 1 as well, but I haven't finished with that) would be necessary? If not, I'll move onto the later volumes.

It depends on two things:
(1) what details are you referring to? how minor or major? can you give some examples?
(2) the Supervisor of the project.

Re: Hidan no Aria [Aria the Scarlet Ammo]
They're just really small details I'm nitpicking about. For example,
There are a few more here and there: Yamato-Nadeshiko, juubako, sewing club should be handicraft club, her scores not just being excellent but actually a standard score of 75 and other bits. Again, they're all small things but I think the overall quality could be better.
Does Nera check around here often?

Re: Hidan no Aria [Aria the Scarlet Ammo]
Nera's having exams right now. He mostly frequents Jcafe.
Each translator has their own style. Some try to make it as faithful to the original language while others choose to localize more. A byproduct of localization can be removal/addition of certain details. For one, anyone not familiar with the Japanese education system might not know that 75 is an honors grade. At any rate, I try to keep it faithful, but rephrasal will take its toll on some sentences. If you really find it intolerable you should track Nera down at Jcafe : D
Glad to have another prospective TLer, at any rate.

by raws, you mean the official ones from Sharp Point Press (尖端出版) right? that's the problem with fan translations, though Hikari cross-checks with the Japanese raws, so hers should be fine.

No.
On second thought, No.
On more thought, why?
From another view, the readers know how to read. If you want to change something, change her style of speech, rather than how she says 'I'.
And really, truthfully, no disrespect intended, I know you guys do this in your free time, but...
Shouldn't you be looking through the text for grammar mistakes rather than arguing about semantics and style of speech?
I just saw one:
"Just as I was about to expose my lack of charisma to be a captain--" as opposed to,
"Just as I was about to expose my lack of the charisma needed to be a captain--"
Anyways, sorry about being so brusque and rude...Rather because I'm feeling rather nettled at the discussion of some of the most inane things.

Re: Hidan no Aria [Aria the Scarlet Ammo]
Ah, I understand your standpoint better now that I read the forum-post.
Well, I believe that most people can not understand the nuances of speech since they don't know that they are there.
Therefore it is as important (if not more) as grammar, beacuse it reflects the nature of the characters depicted, or in this case: written. Is that not of more interrest to the story than how it is spelled?
The color of impression is the wording of the speech - this is worth contemplating.
I won't force you to change anything, but I beseech you to consider is seriously without contempt for the thought. Keep an open mind, as someone else mentioned.
I want to belive that we are breaking untrod ground here, and since I don't want the issue to hit bedrock I also want to apologize if a came across as inane by not explaining it properly and for being somewhat harsh in my reply in the off forum-discussion . I'll leave it for you to read anyway, since I am not a beliver of editing out my mistakes.
Once again, with my respect for your efforts / Jim, aka Novium.
