It was midday in Temple School City. Magic God Othinus looked down at her hands. She was 150cm tall. At some point, she had returned to her perfect god form.

(Sigh. Curse that Academy City. Let me guess: I was caught in a mysterious explosion and I was transported here through the process of being destroyed at Point A and restored at Point B. Did the process have to use old data after crossing the “barrier”?)

Melehe Superlative, a witch in training with silver hair and brown skin, happened to be passing by.

Events were already in motion.

“Hey, you there. You can’t just bring a dangerous lance into town! That tip is clearly sharp!!”

“Are brooms considered powerful in this world?”

“Witches are the strongest here.”

This conversation already wasn’t making sense, but it still told Othinus what kind of world she had wound up in.

This was a world where witches and brooms were commonplace instead of conveniences stores and online shopping. The humans of this world lived lives based on that sort of society, laws, and worldview.

(I suppose I have eccentric tastes too. The top Norse god did take the words of a dead seeress seriously.)

Also, the god didn’t stand out at all in this Halloween city.

“Oh? But attempting physical flight is a rare thing for a real witch. Generally speaking, it’s easier to use a form of meditation to elevate yourself on a mental level than it is to physically defy universal gravity.”

“Huh? It’s not that big a challenge. And physical or mental, it takes a massive amount of studying for an individual like me to achieve ‘flight’. You called it elevating yourself, right? The work put into learning how to fly is going to do that anyway.”

“(Of course, there’s also the idea that the ‘mental elevation’ in question was only a metaphor for straddling a broom and moving back and forth to pleasure yoursel-)”

Melehe blushed bright red as she shouted.

Why she expected a Norse god to show restraint was a mystery.

Othinus sighed.

“It doesn’t even have to be a broom for that matter. Actual witches used whatever would get the job done. They would use tree branches, mortars, and animals, so I don’t see why a lance is so strange.”

“Ugh. Y-you have a point. Formula Brooms are just so accepted I never really questioned it.”

“The idea that witches rubbed a sketchy ointment on their crotch so they would hallucinate they were flying doesn’t seem very realistic if you ask me. I mean, we’re talking about the age of the witch hunts when they would be reported and executed if their neighbors spotted them on the way to the Witches’ Sabbath late at night. Straddling a non-flying broom and staggering to their secret gathering while seeing horny hallucinations doesn’t sound like the best way to be stealthy.”
