<0002> As I open my eyes, the first thing that comes into focus is the white ceiling above me.

<0003> The light is so bright it stings my eyes.

<0004> It seems that I was somehow lying on my side.

<0006> Looking for the source of the humming I turn my head to the left.

// <0007> 頭の上に置かれている機械よりも先に、枕元に置かれた椅子で目をつむっている少女に気づく。
<0007> Instead of an oddly shaped contraption placed above my head, I first noticed a young woman with her eyes closed. Perhaps sleeping on a chair beside the bed. 

// <0008> 流れるような長い髪がきれいだった。
<0008> She had exquisitly vibrant, long flowing hair.

// <0009> すっ、と鼻の通った顔立ち。
<0009> She had distinctive features。

// <0010> なぜか悲しんでいるように見えた。
<0010> Somehow, looking at her she seemed as if she was, perhaps, sad.

<0011> Her eyes were lightly closed.

// <0012> その端から、今にも涙が溢れてくるように思えて恐かった。
<0012> It scared me to see that tears might come out of them at any moment.

<0013> But she seemed to be asleep for now.

<0014> Hmm.. She seems abit older than me, and I've never met her before。

<0015> Everthing is so white, the ceiling, bed, the walls. Everything.

<0016> I loosen the blankets that someone had tucked around me and free my right arm.

<0017> Hmph, someone had taken the time to dress me in white pajamas.

<0018> It seems as if I'm in a hospital of some kind.

// <0019> でも、少女は看護婦ではないようだ。
<0019> But the sleeping woman doesn't seem to be a nurse.

<0020> She's dressed in normal everyday clothes.

// <0021> なぜ親父ではなくて、この少女が付き添っているのだろう。
<0021> If this is a hospital, why wouldn't my own my father wait beside my bed? Instead, it's this women?

<0022> Why am I sleeping in a hospital?

<0023> I can't remember even the slightest bit.

// <0024> 少なくとも、昨日まではいつもと変わらない秋の一日だったはずなのに。
<0024> However, I was postive that the day before had been just another sleepy fall day for me. 

// <0026> 声を出すこと自体がかなり久しぶりのようだ。喉を使うだけで、体力を消耗する。
<0026> Trying to speak took more effort than I expected and left me feeling drained and weak, it seems it's been sometime since I had last spoken.

<0027> The women's slender frame was trembling, perhaps in a nightmare?

<0076> Out of all people in this room, she seems to worry about me the most.

<0078> The doctor asks for my condition.

<0079> I guess all I can say is "I'm fine".。

<0080> In fact, I want to get up and go home as soon as possible.

<0082> If I don't practice just for a day, it takes three days just to get back on starting line.

<0083> The examination for the scholorship is coming up.

<0084> There's nothing wrong with my body so I want to get back to practice.

<0085> Whether they cared about my feelings or not...

<0086> the doctor in front of me kept on talking.

<0087> The questions didn't make any sense.

<0088> What is the date? What day is today? Do you remember my face? and so on.

<0089> Why would you even ask those questions in the first place?

<0090> It was first time seeing the doctor and questions like day and date is simply too pointless to answer.

<0095> Tomoyo closes up on me and stood beside the bed.

<0097> She looks me into my eyes.

<0101> Maybe the people in this room are all actors, and place which seems like hospital is actually a stage, and I'm just being played around.

<0102> Tomoyo took something out of her purse and handed it to me.

<0103> It was a mirror.

// <0104> 女の子が身だしなみを整えるために使う、ピンクの少しファンシーな手鏡だ。
<0104> It was a pink and bit fancy hand mirror which most women use for fixing their appearance.

<0105> That itself was not unusual.

// <0106> おれにとって見覚えがないのは、そこに映っている姿のほうだ。
<0106> What was unusual, however, was an image appearing in that mirror.

<0108> What a stupid question to ask.

<0109> If there was a mirror in front of me, then the image of the mirror is no other then...

<0111> I don't mean to brag but I have a confidence in my eyesight. I squinted my eyes and stared into the image.

<0130> I already knew the answer but I could help but to ask.

<0141> After I graduated high school, I started to live by myself.

<0142> Tomoyo had her family to live by, but still, she opened up a lot of time just to spend time with me.

<0143> \{Tomoyo} "A lot has happened between you and me. Something was always going on around us."

<0144> After she laughed like before, she clouded her emotions.

<0145> \{Tomoyo} "But... You..."

// <0146> ある日、事故に遭った後遺症で倒れてしまったのだ、と。
<0146> One day, I collapsed from the injury from previous accident.

<0147> That's what Tomoyo told me.

// <0148> そして目覚めれば…記憶喪失。
<0148> And when I wake up... the amnesia.

// <0149> 正確に言えば、学校入学前の記憶はある。
<0149> In more datail, I still have the memories from before entering the high school.

// <0150> 目覚めた当初はいくぶんぼんやりとしていたが、だんだんとはっきりしてきた。
<0150> My memory was blurred when I first woke up but it was becoming more clear.

<0151> The yesterday inside my momory.

<0152> The season was fall.

<0153> I was in third year of junior high and concentrated on basketball.

<0154> My skill was well known around here and also the examination was coming up.

<0155> But supposedly, today, I have already graduated from the the high school which I was supposed to attend.

<0157> \{Tomoya} "It almost seems like a joke."

<0158> In fact, all this doesn't feel real to me.

<0159> She says I got into an accident but I don't have the self-awareness of the injury.

// <0160> 今にも、全部嘘でした、と言われるような気がする。一時期流行った『どっきりテレビ』というやつだ。
<0160> I have a feeling that they are going to say "It was all a lie" at any moment. It's one of those "getting punk'd" which I've heard about.

<0161> But when I see look on Tomoyo's face, I can understand that this was not a lie.
