“Is that all? Pathetic,” spat Brave Liar, the black-armored Hero.

What was that kid’s deal? Brave Liar had won a direct battle with that godawful king, but this left a bad taste in his mouth.

One person remained standing.

A goddess stood there, seeming to blow in the night breeze. As if she had no commands to choose from and could only remain stationary.

Brave Liar ignored her and lowered his weapon. She would never attack. He knew that well as someone who had intentionally manipulated the Skill Tree to plan out his growth.

''As long as you followed the proper route'', that goddess would grant skills to anyone, enemy or ally, who paid the appropriate LAW. And once she granted you a skill, she would not confiscate it or lock it down. He didn’t know if that was her personality at work or if that was just how the system worked, but he knew it was true. She wasn’t someone who would attempt an obvious boss battle here.

With that in mind, he felt no anger toward the kid who had opposed him. Only pity.

“I know it’s weird for me to say, but that was a suicide quest, kid. Being given the option to attempt it is, in itself, absurd. You didn’t have a single chance, so giving it to you was a real nasty move.”

The black-armored Hero sounded melancholy as he turned away.

That was when his slave girl partner raised a frantic voice.

“M-Master!!”

“Huh?”

“Um, well, uh, look…on your cheek. A cut.”

Brave Liar rubbed the back of his hand against his cheek and noticed a small smear of red there.

Had it happened when the kid’s sword broke? The cut was smaller than if he’d nicked himself shaving.

But this was also the first damage he’d taken, something the king had failed to achieve.

“Tch.”

Brave Liar clicked his tongue and lashed out in irritation, kicking hard enough for his foot to break right through the jelly girl’s belly. Then he left the deserted castle.
