Ayato looked up at the ceiling inside Room 0109 next to the crucial Room 0108.

“Now, I think it’s time I made an attempt from above the ceiling. I would appreciate it if someone helped me.”

Maid Julielt Resurrection reluctantly stepped forward.

“Well… I do owe you for saving me before and this will resolve a national crisis. And biting my lip while I endure the humiliation of having a gentleman tread on me while I crawl like a dog does sound kind of nice.”

“Maid, stop indulging him and letting him trick you!! And why do you have to phrase everything in an unnecessarily indecent way!? You’re only going to evolve him into a great beast that will cause severe harm for the rest of us!!”

For some reason, Teleria blushed and fiercely protested, so Ayato was forced to climb into the ceiling on his own. A sad state of affairs for a boy.

“I-is it really safe to climb up on the closet like that?”

“Excuse me a moment.”

“Eh? The ceiling opens like that!?”

As the busty leader of the Properod Divine Water Nation watched on, Ayato slipped from Room 0109 into the ceiling space. A thick quintuple barrier had its pros and its cons. He could scramble around up here all he wanted and none of the noise would reach the adjacent room. Of course, the five thick barriers fully sealing off Room 0108 also meant he couldn’t easily get in.

Teleria had told him that Mamilis had climbed up here earlier.

“?”

(But the way the dust has been spread around suggests there was something else up here. But the movement doesn’t suggest a mouse.)

Had Mamilis done that? The air purifier, emergency lights, and other sorcery devices had been marked with ink X’s. He didn’t actually need to boost his level any since his linkage monitor crystal tarot cards had already reached level 5000, but the marks would still act as a diversion to hide his true intentions.

Ayato was after the plumbing.

In an emergency, the consul guest quarters would seal off all entrances and exits, not even allowing air in or out. The oxygen in the room was apparently secured by breaking down water, but if the water used for that were contaminated, the air would be bad and the people inside would be forced out.

(Water and air quality isn’t something you can tell by sight. Ultimately, everyone relies on the numbers displayed on the media summoner hooked up to a sensor. If I mess with that, the Collaborative Continent aides will panic in their perfectly safe room and leave the consul guest quarters by their own choice.)

Ayato had no way of knowing dying Emperor Milbert’s condition, so he liked the idea of driving them out of the room with a harmless bluff.

“Is this it?”

To protect national secrets, the palace’s media summoners couldn’t be directly linked to the outside sorcery network. He found an antenna that gathered the lines of intangible mist mana to handle the castle’s connections. By manipulating that, he could display phony readings on a media summoner.

His level was 5000. That had to be enough.
