“Summer is the season for events.”

One night, Viocia Modestlucky put her hands on her hips and made this announcement in all seriousness.

She was in her small room, located up above a late night establishment filled with drinks, snacks, and dancers.

As a witch’s bar, it offered mythical drinks like nectar, yu gao, and soma, but those likely weren’t the ''actual'' drinks that granted immortality to gods and humans. They were only cocktails given the name. There were also “immortality-granting” fruits with grand names like ambrosia and golden apple, but those were only ordinary fruits.

“The most important one is the Maleficium Trial Class. While the world is enjoying its summer break, Maleficium is planning!!”

The freeloading witch’s words received an expressionless reply from the freeloading elf Freynir.

“A float around your hips, snorkel goggles on your forehead, and a bug-catching net and cage on your shoulders. And the backpack, water bottle, lunchbox, and more scattered across the floor. Lady Viocia, where are you planning to go and what are you planning to do there?”

“Ugh!!”

Viocia didn’t really know herself.

She just knew it sounded fun and so she got ahead of herself.

The deep “moo” coming from below meant bronze statue (and giant pressure cooker) Moloch was at work in the kitchen tonight. She sounded somehow happy.

Seated on the floor, Freynir tilted her head with no noticeable emotion in her eyes.

“How can they have a trial? I thought no one knew what that school was like until they passed the exam. That doesn’t fit with exam students getting a chance to try it out for a day.”

“Hm. I don’t know how exactly it works, but we aren’t going to Maleficium. The students there will be crossing the lake to visit the city.”

“Oh.”

“And I heard Maleficium’s student council president will be coming! How could I not be excited!? Swing swing!!”

“Hm? Are you planning to catch that president in your bug-catching net?”
