===Part 19===

''A white pillar of light'' with no connection to the weather conditions dropped straight down from the sky and pierced the two of them.

“Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!?”

“Kh…ha ha ha ha ha!!”

Flamberg screamed, lost control of her broom, and fell out into the open air, but Yagoro put up with the pain and laughed despite being right up there with her.

(Was Myrddin so unhappy about me joining Schanze on her broom because he was subconsciously afraid of this happening? Her broom ''is'' supposed to be prophetic.)

He could not fly.

No matter what he tried, he simply could not fly, like something was sabotaging him.

But making good use of such a blatantly negative situation was a sign of growth. He felt like praising himself for finding something in this world he wanted to protect this badly.

He could no longer return to his original home of Earth.

So the least he could do was become someone his mother and sister would be proud of while in this world.

Yagoro collided with an anti-bird net laid out in the sky, but it couldn’t support his weight and he broke through, slamming into the ground below. But that ground didn’t feel like marble or obsidian.

He detected the unpleasant scent of filthy, stagnant water.

The bending ground below him was a floating bridge made of rotting wood.

And as soon as he realized that, he heard a sticky sound and the rippling water around him changed to rainbow colors.

(The Ghastly Fishing Hole. That means I’m in a lakeside ''deadly zone'' where legend says your life is over if you carelessly catch what lurks in the waters!)

The only thing for him to stand on was the 1m-wide floating bridge made of thin wooden panels.

One step to the side and he would have fallen into the water. And likely never surfaced again. He seriously doubted the massive silhouette swimming below the bridge was a fish. This was something else entirely. If a human caught a clear glimpse of that thing, their psyche would collapse.

Flamberg lay on the same bridge.

But she hadn’t been slowed by a net on the way down, so she had slammed full force into the bridge.

Their gazes collided.

Yagoro readied his baton and Flamberg readied her broom before they clashed head on.
