L'histoire décrit les incidents qui arrivent autour de la SOS-dan (Sekai wo Ooi ni moriagerutameno Suzumiya Haruhi no Dan), un club qu'elle a elle-même monté.

La série, commencée avec "La mélancolie de Haruhi Suzumiya", s'est vendue à plus de 2,8 millions d'exemplaires au total, étendant rapidement sa base de fans après sa sortie en anime.

Sa popularité continue de grandir.
L'histoire contient de la SF, des mystères, du cosplay, etc.

J'ai interviewé M. Nagaru Tanigawa, l'auteur, à propos de cette histoire de vie scolaire -- une histoire qui mélange les définitions d'ordinaire et d'extraordinaire.
