Editing Seitokai no Shisan:Volume 4 Extra

“Master, the usual please.”  

“Certainly.”

Finishing up my order briefly, I cut the end of a cigar and lighted it with my favorite lighter. I took a puff from it, slowly savoring its scent.

Many years have past since I started coming regularly to this bar. Back then, I was just a brat who knew nothing, but I have made quite a name for myself since then. Now, bounded by obligations wherever I go, this is the only sanctuary I have left, a place I can take solace in.

Exhaling a ring of smoke, I walked down the memory lane, absent-mindedly.

How dazzling they were, the days when I was still an immature brat. Now, I’ve gotten a little skilful with things, and I resemble less of my bold, daring past. In exchange for that, I’ve got myself some scars, and built some relationships as well. If this is what it means to grow up, I would rather have remained as that young, fearless brat. This wish of mine will never be realized, yet somehow, I still could not let go of it. I let out a bitter smile.

It’s just the usual, with the endless repeats of regretful and comforting thoughts, the redundant licking of wounds that refuse to disappear.

Today, however, I chanced upon a new feminine face at the other end of the bar. That blonde beauty has that pure, innocent look; a rarity in these 
streets.

“Master.”

I waved to the bartender in the usual manner.

“How may I help you?”

“A martini to the lady over there. On my tab.”

“Certainly.”

My past self might have approached this lady eagerly, but the present me does not have such motive at all. I just wanted to show my gratitude to be able to see such a rare beauty.

A look of shock appeared on her face, and she cast her eyes in my direction. Smiling widely, I merely returned her gaze, without voicing any unnecessary words.

For a brief moment, as I was savoring my cigar, I came to be aware of a presence sitting on the seat next to mine.

“Thank you for the drink.”

“You’re most welcome, my beautiful lady.”

The blonde beauty was right there. Without even turning to look at her, I gulped down my shot of bourbon.

The lady, upon seeing me, pouted her lips.

“Playing it cool, huh?”

“I’m just shy.”

“I wonder if my charm even works on you...”

“I'll be happy to see a guy who would be unaffected by it.”

“I’ll take that as a compliment.”

“It's just the fact.”

The lady flashed a charming smile, with a small ‘clink’, knocked her glass lightly on mine, and put her lips on the martini.

The things that happened after that… Well, it’s unbecoming of a gentleman to describe it explicitly.

For such a rotten district, it was indeed an excellent night.

“You’re going already?”

“Yeah.”

Morning. I answered the lady with my back facing her, who woke up wrapped only in sheets.

“You… haven’t told me your name.”

“It’s better for both of us if I didn't.”

“Coming from your experience?”

“Yeah. It’s good to listen to someone older than you.”

“I guess… But-”

She gazed at me, a heart-broken look on her face. Without looking at her, I got into my clothes and put my hand on the door knob.

It’s just the usual stuff, as always.

“I hope we will meet again.”

At her words, I turned around, and flashed her a wide smile.

“We’ll meet again, for sure.”

It was a lie. Unfortunately, such wonderful coincidences rarely happen in the real world.

Aware of that, we exchanged smiles with each other.

“See you.”

With that, I stepped out of the room.

It's another day of work again.

Today is…

“Ah, the photoshooting of Seitokai no Ichizon's cover page, eh?”

I forced my languid body forward, and stepped out into the mist-wrapped streets.

“What were you writing in the middle of lesson?”

volume of Seitokai no Ichizon!”

“Aau, p-please don’t do that! It was just a passing fancy!”

“…All right. I’m not that evil. I’ll let you off this time.”

“Ms. Magiru, thank you very much! Thank you very much!”

“After all, I ''am'' the kind-hearted and considerate teacher that everyone loves!”

“Yes!”

“I will never betray my students’ faith in me!”

“Teacher! Mafuyu… Mafuyu is deeply touched!”
