Just a bit of a heads up about editing High school DxD. In the guidelines it says "All edited translations are to be in British English."

Sure, that's fine. By the way is it okay if every once in a while if one word is in past tense because there have been 2 or 3 situations where the sentences have sounded weird in present tense. Other than that I'll put all the narrative in present tense. --Dan1023 23:52, June 3, 2012

Umm... the High School DxD main forum I guess. Just post your edited parts and where its from, then hopefully someone will check it there. You can post parts that your unsure of how to fix or confusing typos there as well. The forum link is on the DxD main page. Ohh, I didn't know that. I was asked to change anything I edited to present tense because on the "High School DxD: Names and Terminology Guidelines" page it says to edit narratives to be in present tense. I had changed a lot of it to past tense yesterday so I was undoing my changes and changing the rest. I'm sorry if i'm wrong. Should I change the tense back? If so i'll doing manually because I made a few other changes other than changing the tense of words.  --Dan1023 16:16, June 4, 2012

Don't really know who changed it, but first edition by Code-Zero used past tense.
Imho, at this stage of editing we shouldn't even touch such aspects as future/present/past, leaving it all in the originally translated state and only fixing situations that are grammatically/lexically incorrect or awkward. There are hundreds of places that need much more urgent editing (just volume 4 alone has more than 291 places that desperately need editing)  --[[User:Sinsi]] 10:16 5 June 2012

Look at the first edition by Code-Zero to see the correct one, it is the translator's privilege to decide on those things(that part of the Guidelines is for them, not for the editors!). Editors should only change tenses if they are grammatically/lexically incorrect or awkward. That answers the first question but it doesn't explain the edits. Using Volume 11 Life 1 as an example there is two or three narrative sections in past tense but the fourth will be in present tense. Following that it will change back to past tense for a while and then change to present tense again. Each section, such as their Life number in High School DxD, should use a single tense except for a few possible exceptions, but Volume 11 uses both which makes it read awkwardly. You told me that the actual novel of High School DxD Volume 11 reads in past tense. That is why I was asking if I should change the tense of those that make it read awkward? Updated the tenses on terminology page, and that decision is final. That part of the guideline is for the editors and translators to maintain consistency. Japanese grammar is not the same as English grammar, there is no future tense in Japanese, but we still need to use it every now and then in the translations. Thus, modifications are required either way to make it more readable. You can also just message me through the forums since it's easier to respond that way and its more private.
