===Translators=== ====Vanant==== Fuck you. Vanant (talk) 21:38, 18 August 2014 (CDT) ====Banisher==== I am fine as long as the TLC and editing is according to the Japanese version You might want to discuss with John Woodward (talk) before doing additional editing. Well reasons are he also want to edit one or two sentences. - User:Banisher(talk) == Mushoku Tensei registration Incident== Still not sure how this talk this is supposed to work. Am I supposed to reply at your talk or mine? I'll do it here for now I guess. Referencing the contributor agreement: http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Baka-Tsuki:Contributor_Agreement , the default project conventions: http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Baka-Tsuki:Project_Conventions , and the specific registration page: http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Mushoku_Tensei:Registration_Page , I couldn't find anything that says to request permission from the registered user before uploading translations. I checked these before uploading. This 'rule' seems to be an unspoken rule that a new user like me would not know about. There exists rules and guidelines for registering chapters for translation, but I am not a translator. I did not translate these chapters. I, as per the written rules, received permission from the external translator to upload his work. If the registered TL wanted to overwrite it, he could-- because he's the registered one. If he wanted to remove it, he could-- because he's the registered one. It's possible I got something mixed up somewhere because of the use of the terms "registered user" vs "anonymous user" in the rules. I thought that by registering an account I was a registered user, and thus could upload material. I then went to the registration page and let him know that another person did the translations already. The registration page showed that he was barely into 128 and hadn't started on 129, and it seems nobody had told him about it yet. How would you feel if you started working on something that somebody else already did because nobody told you about it? The sooner I got the message to him, the better. Hiding it from him wasn't going to change the fact that somebody else already did it. Apparently I was supposed to use the talk page instead to let him know about this, but I didn't know what that was, how to use it, or that that's what I was supposed to use at the time (I was looking for an email or actual PM system but didn't see one). My bad I guess. Try to help people out and they go tell me to fuck myself. Try to explain what I did, why I did, and where I was coming from, and get met with something even worse. --Deadgye 2:20AM 19 August 2014 (EST) Dear Deadgye, Regarding the incident of Mushoku Tensei incident, the request to restore the pages is denied. To understand my decision, i will explain it to you in detail: While i can understand for mistaking the registration guidelines as strictly enforced rules due to some ambiguity, there is also no mistake that you did not follow the registration procedures, even under your own interpretation. Specifically: "First Come, First Served" - The implication that to register for a specific chapter, place it under the responsibility of the registered translator and that they will be given priority over it. "This is not some Binding Contract of "I must do the work I put down here". Choices put down here are negotiable between translators (including their own selves who signed up for it)." - That based upon the interpretation of the first procedure, negotiation between the registered translator for a chapter takes priority regarding any chapters they have registered for. You violated both this procedures: 1. re-registering the chapters in point with: "hijack by anon" thereby disregarding the registered translator for signed for it first 2. You failed to negotiate with registered translator, contact with the does not mean just by the user talk page, it could be via any means. Yet you did not attempt nor did you not verify if they had received your message or wait for a reply. Lack of contact is not a valid alibi, as a point of contact for the project is easily identified on the main project page, under "supervisor" and "manager", in this instance, this is me. The result of your actions led to the withdraw of a registered translator who have had contributed consistently and fairly to the project. Therefore to restore the pages with the infractions above and the result of the incident, would be sending the wrong message that i would over look those actions and consequences. So I hope you understand my decision in this matter and that i consider this final and binding. I understand that as new user, that you may not be aware of the procedures of Baka-Tsuki or of the Autonomous nature of the projects within it. You are more then welcome to ask for help and you are still welcome to contribute to the project and the rest of Baka-Tsuki. But please consider this a verbal warning. If you wish to have a more in depth information on how to contribute, please refer to this page: Contributor Agreement Best Regards, Onizuka-GTO 08:34, 19 August 2014 (CDT) I understand. Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. My priority was on letting the translator know that someone else did it while he was registered for it asap, but the way I did it was apparently the worst way to go about it. In the future, should any similar situation ever occur, I'll try to follow the proper channels to let them know what happened without putting the content on BT until decisions are made. I think it would be a good idea to add to the contributor guidelines that ---all users--- shouldn't upload content for a registered chapter until asking the registered translator. This would address the ambiguousness present that may confuse people who are just trying to blindly add content, since the current wording reads like you only need to obtain permission to actively translate something that's already registered. Deadgye 12:58PM, 19 August 2014 (EST) == Proxy for MT scripts == Dear Deadgye, You may contribute to unregistered chapters, but you must take responsibility for the anonymous scripts and register your username as a proxy. For example, Vol.16 Chapter 11 which you uploaded. As for TLC of registered chapters and existing script, the priority is to concentrate on all translations by translator staff who are designated as (Learner) such as: zmunjali COTHER Kazeboy Ren Due to the sensitivity of the previous incident, i must ask you to refrain from touching Saihafire scripts for an undetermined duration. Best Regards, Onizuka-GTO 10:39, 21 August 2014 (CDT) == response == sure Ren (talk) 05:40, 24 August 2014 (CDT) == MT scripts registered as proxy == Dear Deadgye, Please be aware that Onii Sama has claim ownership of some (if not all) the anon scripts that are registered by you. Please initiate dialogue with the above user, to verify which script is claimed and to amend the registration page accordingly. Best Regards, Onizuka-GTO 11:46, 24 August 2014 (CDT) : If you would allow it, I would like Deadgye to continue assisting me, so I may focus my attention on translating. - Onii Sama (talk) 15:16, 24 August 2014 (CDT)
