Re: "that she had to become Natsume's support." I think the wording of this off. Yes 'support' can be used as a noun but it is not used to describe something in the context of a close friendship. The connotations of the word as a noun implies an emotional separation between the parties or a one sided relationship.I don't believe that the idea conveyed by the sentence is phrased using those words in English literature.
