RainyDay Squad is Cloud's initiative to recruit some personal editors, translators, and managers who want to work together intimately on several Baka-Tsuki projects.
It's slightly like an informal translation group, but not quite (this is why we're a "squad" and not a "group"):
- Baka-Tsuki is our one and only host.
- We do all our preliminary translating and editing work on Google Docs, but the only place we upload our contributions to is Baka-Tsuki.
- Anyone (including anonymous editors and unaffiliated editors/translators/etc.) are freely welcome to edit things we upload without informing us.
Why this initiative?
First, it's to encourage quality. Rather than uploading unproofread raw translations directly to the Wiki, we're trying to ensure that our translations are grammar/style-checked by at least one editor before they're released to the masses.
Second, it's the improve communication between editors and translators. Baka-Tsuki is a little cumbersome for editors to work with, and Cloud favors Google Doc's commenting system for communication purposes.
Third, uhh... Cloud is kind of desperate for editors. xD
Recruitment
Why join RainDay Squad? Here's some great reasons:
- To start, for each new editor that joins, I promise I will translate one chapter of ANY SERIES THEY REQUEST.
- Collectively, the editing team gets to add any ONE PROJECT they like to my translation queue. (I get to decide the order of my queue though, ^^;)
However, there's several catches:
- You'll be given access to my Google Drive where I keep all the translations I'm working on.
- You'll be expected be an active editor... xD
- You need to apply to become a RainyDay Squad Editor. I'm using NanoDesu's Editor Diagnostic. Please email the applications to me (contact info here) and use any excerpt from a project RainyDay Squad has worked on.
Apart from editors, I also welcome translators on the projects I manage who want access to the RainyDay Google Drive as a platform (as well as the editing team). xD
