Uchigane (打鉄) would mean 'hitting metal', literally, or blacksmith. That's correct as it was given in the text. Shiki, 式, can also mean 'type', like '百式', Hyakushiki as [100th type], or 零式ドロップショット literally meaning zero-type drop shot (I hate myself for that reference now. Are you sure it's [Uchigane Nishiki] and not [Uchigane Nigata] because the IS wiki states it as [Uchigane Nigata] [[wikia:c:Infinite-Stratos:Sarashiki_Kanzashi here]. Zero2001 - Talk - 09:25, 10 October 2011 (CDT)

Uchigane (打鉄) would mean 'hitting metal', literally, or blacksmith. That's correct as it was given in the text.
