Just wanted to point out that the second note in 'translator's notes' is invalid due to mistake in translation:
「うん。戦車長殿がね、死ぬ間際に命令したんだ。戦車を破壊しろって。色が黒くて、砲塔の右側に三本の紅い縦縞があって、左側に貘の絵が描いてある戦車・・・」
"Yes. Just before my commander died, he gave me an order to destroy a tank - black tank with three red vertical stripes on the right and a tapir on the left..."
