A Certain Magical Index Collab SS: Dorothea and Aleister[edit]

Darkness had fallen across the city.

It was the mystical hour of twilight. That was perhaps the time most befitting that human, where he could cross the boundaries of worlds, of physical space, and of safety. But most importantly, it was the polar opposite of the dawn.

His name was Aleister Crowley.

That human had once cursed the pranks wrought by coincidence and attempted to singlehandedly destroy the Golden cabal, the greatest of the world’s magic cabals. When he turned a corner now, he nearly ran into a bandaged girl named Dorothea Rockpool (a timid, tall, busty glasses girl).

“Yikes.”

“Oh, pardon me. Can you run into witches in training anywhere you go in this world? I knew it was an interesting world, but not this interesting.”

“Um?” Dorothea viewed him with the timid eyes of a small animal behind her glasses.

Now, Aleister was certainly a dangerous person in his professional(?) and private life. He would take all sorts of sketchy drugs for his ceremonies and he would decide to marry a friend’s lover upon first meeting them. But…

“(Hm. I just don’t like women who have a tolerant homemaker vibe. They throw me off. But is this a sign of an unfilled desire in me, or is it simply a silly complex?)”

“?”

Dorothea had no clue she had struck a miraculous balance similar to slipping into the only safe space during an especially brutal section of a bullet hell game. It was best not to imagine what would ordinally happen if a glasses girl with only bandages covering her large breasts were tossed out in front of this magician.

That human had split an entire world between magic and science, created Academy City as his temple in the far east, and used every nation and organization as his playthings, but there was one thing he had never managed to make his.

Aleister shook his head with a self-deprecating smile.

“And I do not seem capable of using any magic at all. Even I am no more than an ordinary human here. But a human becoming human once more is nothing worth mourning. In fact, it might be worth running some experiments here.”

Wh-what are you…going to do? Eep.

“Nothing at all. For now, anyway. Because it appears this is a world that rejects the magic power refined within the human body. Which means I cannot use my magic here.”

“Magic power…in the human body? Um, the only thing people have is their willpower. You have to borrow the power from the other world.”

“Is that how it works here? Fascinating.”

“Um,” said Dorothea, again unsure what to say.

The bandaged glasses girl did not seem aware just how much this human could accomplish with that little explanation.

“That has brought my perhapses and could-it-bes to the level of ‘it just might be possible’. The opposite of a spiriting away is not an aggressive exorcism – it is a further application of astral projection. I only need to create a situation where I am more easily taken away to the world I wish to reach…which in my case is Earth.”

“Earth?”

“Oh, but I refer to a different heavenly body than the world you refer to with that name. By the way, I notice you are carrying a broom.”

“Um, you mean my Formula Broom? Eep.”

“I see. So the witch borrows power from elsewhere and then gives the direct instructions to wield her miracles.”

“?”

“But the witchcraft I know is based on illusions. The real skill is seen in how the witch rearranges the process to produce a meaningful effect. But here…yes, this really is a different world. It shows the influence of 81, aka Hecate, but the rules are clearly different.”

“What good is all that analysis, eep, when you don’t have a Formula Broom? Y-you shouldn’t be able to use magic without one.”

“I imagine not. But nothing happening is the most wonderful result I can imagine.”

Aleister even smiled here.

He had been told it couldn’t be done, but that was the entire point.

That human had overturned so many claims of “it can’t be done” in the past, but now he whispered to himself with an air of enjoyment.

“Nothing happens.”
