== Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan == So from now on anything questions or matters that comes up in the translation that kind of big or it's too long I'll post on the chp discussion page. I have already posted something on it that requires your attention check it out :D --Dual Blades (talk) 16:04, 12 August 2014 (CDT) I just finished Rakudai Vol 1. I'm sorry, but your translation was pretty bad. It seemed like a direct translation from the Japanese text, with no consideration as to whether the sentence you ended up with actually made sense in English. I do not mean this as an insult, so please do not take this the wrong way, but I do hope that you will perform even more proofreading on your translations in the future before uploading them. --Fatalystic (talk) 23:15, 28 December 2014 (GMT +8) Your view is quite right; my translation was done as an emergency effort when the original translator went on break, and it was my first translation as well. That's why I've not allowed the teaser tag to be removed from the project despite the calls from other project members and I have spent the last few months editing the volume. (Whether that time editing will really improve it remains to be seen, but what can you do?) --KLSymph (talk) 18:58, 28 December 2014 (CST) I'm planning to make a translation into Spanish so I need to ask your permission to start with this project and I already made a translation until chapter 2 of vol 2. Hope you're agree with it. --Hamberz19 (talk) 18:26, 28 December 2014 (CST) You might want to send this request to TheCatWalk, or Simon the project supervisor. I don't really know the policy on giving permission for alternate language translations, and I don't know Spanish to give an informed opinion. Good luck. --KLSymph (talk) 18:58, 28 December 2014 (CST) uhh...not sure how to put this but im kinda interested in editing for Rakudai, and have already gone through V2C1,2,3. could you go through them and see how you feel? Thanks. Would have pmed you on the forums but its down for many people (including yourself i believe). --Bowguyz (talk) 19:42, 16 January 2015 (CST) I think your edits are quite fine. You don't need my permission to edit or anything. Also, I haven't had any problems with the forum. --KLSymph (talk) 20:27, 16 January 2015 (CST) thanks. if youre looking for permanent editors, let me know. --Bowguyz (talk) 07:41, 19 January 2015 (CST) Ahh I see what you mean with the all Haโshin thing, yeh I'll check that out.--Dual Blades (talk) 19:23, 1 February 2015 (CST) Hey man you might want hurry with those translation Rakudai if you don't the whole project might get deleted. Change it to Main Project already. That's my favorite Light Novel to read. WyvernFrog (talk) Changing to full project is up to administration, not me. I already completed the steps for requesting approval a month ago. As far as I know, the project is not in danger of deletion. -- KLSymph (talk) 16:22, 7 February 2015 (CST) Are you going to be translating volume 4 and so on? Or were you just finishing off volume 3. TheCatWalk is working on volume three. After that, we'll see how it goes. I'm usually the translator-when-no-one-else-is-translating. --KLSymph (talk) 03:16, 12 July 2015 (UTC) Hey man, has TheCatWalk abandoned the project? I know it currently says afk but it has been a while. Just wondering if in the near future the the remaining volumes are going to be translated or whether you might take over as the lead translator? -- TheSlyGuy (talk) 17:09, 04 September 2015 (UTC) TheCatWalk has not abandoned the project as of the last time we communicated. In accordance with Baka-Tsuki rules, I can't answer questions about when translations will occur. I translate when no one else is doing so, though again I can't give an actual schedule. -- KLSymph (talk) 18:29, 4 September 2015 (UTC) Hello! Glad to meet a translator of the project. Feel free to revert my edits if they aren't matching - I don't have the context, after all. Since you're active, I'll put any major concerns in side notes. -- Nscorz (talk) 01:59, 28 October 2015 (GMT) Hey again. I was wondering if you plan on further translations of this project or whether you was just finishing off volume? -- TheSlyGuy (talk) 20:03, 14 December 2015 (UTC) The project's registration page best represents my translation schedule at any particular time. -- KLSymph (talk) 01:04, 15 December 2015 (UTC) Hello, I would like to help as an editor on this project. -- Holdini (talk) 12:57, 23 December 2015 (CST) You can go ahead and try your hand at editing the chapters on the wiki. -- KLSymph (talk) 19:14, 23 December 2015 (UTC) I did a really quick edit of the Prologue for volume 5. It wasn't too in depth as I was in a rush, but I would love to help out some more if I'm needed. -- [User:Holdini|Holdini]] (talk) 2:15, 23 December 2015 Hello. I have just registered to Baka Tsuki and I would like to thank you for your Radukai Kishi No Calvalry translations. Being one of my most favorite anime series, I am reading the light novel as well and without your dedicated support, these translations would not be here. Altering reading many descriptions of various users, I came to the realization that not everyone speaks the language that they are translating fluently and that they are usually in the process of learning Japanese themselves. I would like to contribute by any means whether it be though editing, proofreading etc as I am a native American Speaker. Through this, I would hope to gain some experience and improve my Japanese Skills. There are a few questions that I have. 1. How do you translate? I would like to know how difficult it is to translate. Do you need to be well versed in the language? Or do you just need to know how to read it? 2. Do you need to know how to read Chinese? Japanese uses a lot of Chinese and though I know how to speak Chinese, I can't read it. Thank you for taking your time to read this note and I hope you reply! User:Just4fun101 (talk) Hi Just4fun101! Editing and proofreading in English won't really give you experience and improvement in Japanese translation skill; for that, you really do have to translate. The difficulty of translation depends entirely on your mastery of your source and target languages, so I can't really say how difficult it will be for you. The ability to read both languages is vital, but familiarity with spoken forms is often useful because colloquialisms from speech are common. I can read some Chinese, but I am not fluent; I can speak Mandarin at a conversational level, though. -- KLSymph (talk) 17:08, 29 December 2015 (UTC) Hey, I am a huge fan of your works and really appreciate your effort i started the novel 'Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan' but there are only done till Volume 6 Chapter 2 i hope you are working on it, as i really am eager to read the later text... Thanks in advance <br>--ravenclaw9 (talk) 15:45, 12 December 2016 (UTC) Hi Ravenclaw9. I'm not currently translating the novel, since another translator is registered for Volume 6. For what it's worth, I'm actively translating the manga. -- KLSymph (talk) 06:20, 13 December 2016 (CET) Hello KLSymph. First of all I would like to thank you for the translation of Rakudai. Apart from that I would like to ask for permission in order to make some minor edits in this project (fix noinclude-references tags/ layout consistency). As for the size of the headlines do you prefer =1= (mostly used here) or ==2== (used in almost all other projects)? Thanks in advance. -- rxls (talk) 17:58, 11 August 2017 (CET) Hi rxls. I'm not clear on which edits you specifically mean to make, so please give more detailed examples. I am aware that Rakudai's project is not formatted the same as other projects on Baka-Tsuki, and this is intentional, justified by the Baka-Tsuki policy of each project having its own formatting standards. If you see instances which are not consistent within the Rakudai project, feel free to make corrections, but if the instances are consistent within Rakudai but not consistent with the rest of Baka-Tsuki, they were probably decided intentionally and should not be changed merely to create external consistency (but I'm always open to discussion about them). --KLSymph (talk) 20:51, 12 August 2017 (CEST) Hello KLSymph and thanks for your reply. I never change the general layout of a project. The consistency refers to each specific project. For example to Chrome Shelled Regios 23 Volumes out of 25 had the same layout. I only changed the format of v19/v20 in order to follow the rest of volumes. Now regarding Rakudai, I'm refering to edits like v04: = Chapter One: Training Camp = -> = Chapter 1: Training Camp = for consistency. Apart from that is there a specific reason that you aren't using "noinclude" before "references/"? This results in the Full Volume "References" to intervene between text (check ToC). On the contrary if you use "noinclude" before, then all the references will be presented at the end of each volume, whereas the presentation of each individual chapter will remain unaffected. Compare the three different layouts of FULL Volumes. 01_Rakudai where the references intervene between text. 02.Denpa Onna where all the references are at the end of the volume. 03 Absolute Duo where all the references are at the end of the volume but separated in groups. -- rxls (talk) The smaller internal-consistency fixes are fine. The noinclude of references is indeed intentional. I prefer references to be attached to specific chapters in the full volume text rather than placed at the end, as they are written to be chapter references and not volume references (even as viewed in the full text). It's a complex balancing of priorities against expected usage patterns, but in a first-time full read-through which is perhaps the most important for a new reader, a listing of references at the end of the text leads to a reader seeing all the definitions long after the referred passages are past, as compared to at the end of a chapter. This is not ideal as a layout, in terms of absorbing the meanings when doing so is most relevant. For further discussion, please head to the Rakudai forum. --KLSymph (talk) 23:37, 12 August 2017 (CEST)
