Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai: Volume 7 Born Princess

After Yusa Aoi left, I continued walking towards the club room.

Yozora, Sena, Rika, Yukimura and Maria were already inside.

Sena was playing a Galgame on her PSP, Rika was breathing heavily while reading mecha doujin, Yukimura was spacing out, Maria was preparing to have a showdown with Kobato, playing "Fullmetal Necromancer" on the screen.

Yozora on the other hand was writing furiously on a sheet of paper.

She would occasionally scratch at her head.

"......What are you doing?"

I asked. Yozora turned and scowled at me.

"It's obvious isn't it? I'm writing the script. I'm almost done with completing the script of the century, so stop disturbing me."

On the table was an empty water bottle and a pouch of grape sweets.

The floor was littered with crumpled paper.

She looked like a scriptwriter seriously trying to complete her script.

"...... You look really serious there. Well, good luck."

I left Yozora, still a bit in shock, and sat down in the sofa opposite Sena.

Since Yozora's script wasn't done yet, we couldn't proceed with the movie shooting. Everyone thus had nothing much to do.

"Hey, I saw Yusa on the way here."

I told Sena, who was laughing to herself while concentrating on her game.

Sena stopped playing and looked at me, before tilting her head blankly and saying:

"Who's Yusa?"

Sigh.

"Kodaka?"

It looks like she wasn't just feigning innocence.

"What do you mean 'who's that', isn't she one of your female classmates?"

"Huh?"

Sena's eyes thinned as she appeared deep in thought.

"Short, with red hair."

Upon hearing my description, Sena seemed as if she finally remembered something.

"Ahh... I think such a person exists... But even if you told me her name, I wouldn't know who she was."

"You should at least remember the names of your classmates..."

"I-I know the names of the girls sitting behind me and next to me!... Even though its not of much use anyway."

"...Did something happen?"

Sena took a deep sigh, and said:

"Listen Kodaka, I told you before, there are only two kinds of women in this world. There are fine ladies who have a good relationship with me, and the bitches who don't. Why should I remember the names of mixbred bitches?"

Calling your own classmate mixbred bitches...

"...The one called Yusa earlier, she was ranked one place below you since last year's examination."

"How should I know what position others are placed? Speaking of which where do you check your results?"

"You don't know?! It's been on the notice board all this time hasn't it!?"

Sena tilted her head in surprise.

"Hmm... Is that so. I don't remember seeing it..."

Sena spoke so honestly I couldn't help but gasp in surprise.

"Seriously..."

"All you need to do is look at your result slip which contains your rank and hensachi[1] no? Most important thing is I'm number one."

"...How do I put this... You're amazing."

"Really!?"

Hearing me say that, Sena smiled happily.

"Speaking of which, how do you usually study? Do you have a tutor?"

For a person like me who has to put extra effort just to cope up with my studies, I was interested to know if there were any effective ways of studying.

"As long as you attend classes and do your homework, you should be fine right?"

Sena said so a-matter-of-factly.

"Really? What about review before exams?"

"The last time you came over to my house was the first and last time I did any reviewing. Come to think of it, it was actually fun~"

....Reviewing together with me, it was the time Sena told me to go over to her place.

Studying only for a short while before proceeding to play video games until dinner - that definitely wasn't "reviewing" in my books.

"Anyway Kodaka, what about Yusa?"

Sena asked carefully. I shook my head.

"No, it's nothing..."

While one side viewed Sena as her rival, the other side didn't even know Yusa's name. Such harsh reality saddened me.

Speaking of Sena, that girl really didn't care about anything she wasn't interested in...

Due to this, aside from Galgames and Kobato, she appeared to be intolerant of other things.

Even if she didn't like her, she still did something nearly criminal - no actually, taking candid shots IS criminal - to Yozora.

That's a bit too unrestrained and unscrupulous no?

The only one able to live a life normal people couldn't - a freewheeling life, possessing the means to simply disregard anyone she didn't care about - was a natural born princess.

Even though I had helped her before when guys tried to pick her up by the poolside, I had a feeling that even if I didn't intervene, she would be able to stand her own ground against those guys.

Being hated by Yozora and Yusa, and perhaps other girls as well - maybe it was inevitable after all.

That's why, being able to converse so freely, so equally with a girl of her class - maybe I should feel proud.

That was how I thought.

Because Yozora still wasn't done with the script by the time school dismissed, we ended today's club session without any special activities.

Yozora had a stern expression as she said "So this is the pain of a creator...", her face exactly that of a creator.

Upon seeing Yozora's expression, Sena happily offered:

"Huhu... If you bow your head and ask, I could give you a hand~"

"I'd rather let a stray dog by the road side help out than you!"

"Uuuu..."

Sena growled, unsatisfied by Yozora cold rejection.

  1. Hensachi is standard score given to each student compared to the overall population, which shows their standard deviation, or in other words their absolute academic ranking. A student's hensachi dictates which university they are allowed to attend.
