04. Muraken: Going to America[edit]

Murata: Crap! What's wrong with wanting to buy my ticket with cash?!

Rodriguez: Now, now, Ken-chan calm down. Japanese people look younger than Americans. If a kid is walking around with that large amount of money, anyone would be suspicious.

Murata: That's why, they were looking at me like I was some sort of criminal. They must have thought that I was carrying illegal drugs, I'm sure.

Rodriguez: It's not like that....

Murata: Ah, well I guess that a long time ago, I carried something more dangerous than drugs.

Rodriguez: That wasn't you, right Ken-chan?

Murata: I know, I understand. I can tell the difference properly. I'm sorry, DOCTOR, please don't make that face[1]. Because I'm really grateful that you left Bob's side to come with me. Mn.... but is it okay?

Rodriguez: What do you mean?

Murata: For you to disobey Bob like this, won't this hurt your job?

Rodriguez: *laughs* I'm just a humble pediatrician! Bob can't put pressure on me. Well, he's not the type of person who would do something like that in the first place though...

Murata: That's good. But for me, his value has plummeted. Because he said he wanted to grant Shibuya's older brother's wish and use the "Mirror's Depth".

Rodriguez:*sighs* But he's not the type of person who would usually think like that, you know? He's not someone who would just up and leave to Switzerland on his private jet. But when it came to granting Shouri's wish, he turned into a doting parent all of a sudden.

Murata: Even though they're not father and son?

Rodriguez: That's how they are... though I myself can understand the feeling too. Ah, speaking of parents, what about your mom and dad?

Murata: It's fine. They both have a key to the house.

Rodriguez:*smiles* That's not what I mean, you know?

Murata: They are indifferent in a good way. It's the principle of laissez-faire. They're busy people, you know? Since they said that they would be taking a week long vacation, they won't get worried.

Rodriguez: Ken-chan, aren't you sad?

Murata: Why do you ask?

Rodriguez: ... I wonder if I made the wrong choice...

Murata: About what?

Rodriguez: About your family, I mean. Bob picked a perfect FAMILY for Yuuri, but the one who picked a family for you was me. I was undecided until the last moment between a millionaire from Hong Kong, and a family that didn't have quite as much money.

Murata: Huh?

Rodriguez: Perhaps you would have preferred being the son of an internationally known millionaire.

Murata: EH?! Why do you say that?

Rodriguez: It's just that, Ken-chan! You don't seem to be blessed with family love! I'm worried that perhaps you're not happy.

Murata: That's not true, DOCTOR. If I had been born in Hong Kong, it would have taken me a long time to come to Japan, right? And the heir to a fortune, can't easily emigrate to another country. The encounter would have taken even more time.

Rodriguez: The encounter with whom? With Yuuri-chan?

Murata: That's right. That's why you did the right thing choosing Japan.

Rodriguez: So what you're saying is that even if you had to give up a loving household, you got what you wanted?

Murata: That's right. This time around I got what I wanted.

Rodriguez: Ken-chan...

Murata: It's not like what I wanted was a new Maou. What I wanted was someone I could talk to. I wanted a buddy... a friend I didn't need to keep secrets from.

Rodriguez: A friend...

Murata: I have always wanted Shibuya Yuuri. That's why, right now, I'm the happiest I've ever been.

Rodriguez: You don't want to lose him, right?

Murata: That's right, not ever. No matter who turns into my enemy.
