Volume 7, Chapter 2  


    The exams went smoothly. "Smoothly" here means there were no earthquakes or fires, not 

my test scores. Don't even bother asking about them.  


    Akane was strangely energetic during the exams. Because she was energetic before her 

transformation, her temperature only went from -50 to -40, but she always had a smile on 

her face. I was just wondering what was going on, and she kept reminding me, " Natsuru -kun, 

please don't forget." Oh, it's about the outing.  


    You seem really excited about it, that's great. I'm going to buy a swimsuit myself, too.  


    Speaking of exams, they were incredibly tiring. Since I'm enrolled in both the boys' and 

girls' programs, I had to take the exams for both.  


    I thought it would be impossible, but somehow, the boys' and girls' exams were staggered. 

This put a huge burden on the school, but Shizuku seems to have figured it out. So,  


    I was able to take both. I'd used that as an excuse to skip the exams, but it didn't work out. 

It really took twice as much thinking on my part.  


    In the second -year girls' division, Class 4, the last exam was over, and the class monitor 

nodded at me, exhausted and slumped over the desk.  


    "Natsuru -san,"  


    I looked at her with a hazy gaze. She was a beautiful woman who looked good with glasses, 

but her personality was a little, or rather, quite problematic.  


    "...What's the matter?"  


    "You look tired."  


    "This... um..."  


    "Please cheer up. Our class is planning to use Natsuru -san's image as a selling point, as a 

super -female figure with both talent and beauty. We'll be troubled if you slump over a simple 

exam."  


    "You've never tried taking two exams alone, have you?"  


    "What...is the matter?"  


    "Two things, one good and one insignificant."  


    That's quite a classification.  


    "...Let's start with the insignificant one."  


    "Second -year student Yamakawa came to see you, Natsuru -san."  


    "When?"  


    "When Natsuru -san wasn't around?"  


    So, when I went to the bathroom? In the bathroom, I always change back to a man, so I 

spend more time in the private room than anyone else.  


    Speaking of which, I seem to have heard the name Yamakawa somewhere before. Hmm — 


    "Ah... Yamakawa Ryoka?"  


    "That seems to be it,"  


    I quickly remembered. It's the White Kämpfer. What on earth does she want from me?  


    "Did she say... something?"  


    "No. I told her you weren't here, and she said, 'Forget it.'"  


    Hmm, so mysterious. It's definitely not good news, so I better not ask.  


    "What good news...?"  


    "This is good information."  


    I couldn't help but step back, wary. Last time, I was forced into a maid outfit after doing 

this. Of course I'd be nervous.

    Nothing could be more unbelievable than the class monitor's claim of "ordinary." I didn't 

want to experience that again.  


    "...Ordinary?"  


    "Actually,"  


    she said, when another girl suddenly intruded.  


    "What? Is Natsuru up to something obscene again?"  


    "If people touch her, I think there should be a fee."  


    The former was the vice -class monitor, the latter the accountant. The vice -class monitor 

wasn't so much lively as she was inexplicably open. My accounting classmate is a taciturn, 

creepy miser who lives with me. Either of them would only bring me disas ter. 


    "As for Natsuru, I think she could just rake up endless amounts of money by engaging in 

compensated dating."  


    "If you give me two -tenths of the profits, I'll help you manage it."  


    Why would I give away part of my youth to some middle -aged weirdo? There's nothing to 

say to them, so I just ignore them.  


    "Actually, my sister is a businesswoman."  


    "I know."  


    That time she got into trouble, after all.  


    "I heard she got theme park tickets from a business partner. I don't want them, but if it's 

convenient, Natsuru -san, please take them."  


    She held out a few tickets. Oh, I know that.  


    It's a sea -themed theme park somewhere in the Kanto region. That means there are lots of 

water -related facilities and activities.  


    It's uniquely located near accommodations and allows swimsuits. Some facilities are 

immersed in the water, like luxurious swimming pools. You can swim and have fun, and there 

are also hot springs, perfect for complete relaxation. But what about winter?  


    "The accommodation vouchers come with the package, and they're a pretty good deal. Do 

you want them?"  


    "If you don't have the conditions..."  


    "Wait, wait, wait, you should ask us first about this kind of thing!"  


    the vice -class monitor interrupted.  


    "The Natsuru tickets are the common property of the class. We can't just make arbitrary 

decisions about them."  


    "Let's buy these tickets first and then resell them to Natsuru -san. Then everyone will be 

happy,"  


    the accountant said again.  


    "Why should I be happy? You're the one who's obviously trying to make a profit."  


    The vice -class monitor and the accountant started arguing with the class monitor. It's rare 

for these three to disagree —just as I was thinking this, I heard their conversation devolve 

into "how to sell them so everyone can profit."  


    So that's what happened. I felt bored, so I decided to ignore their conversation. If I got 

involved, I'd probably get my wallet ripped off again.  


    "Uh-uh..."  


    Hmm? Such a soft voice.  


    "Those... can you sell them to me...?"  


    It was Akane. I didn't know where I heard it from, but before I knew it, she was standing 

behind the three of them.  


    The class monitor's gaze lingered on Akane, who lowered her head. Both girls wore 

glasses, but they gave off completely different impressions.  


    "Mishima -san? You rarely see me."  


    "Yes, yes... I... need... I'm a little interested..."  


    "Who are you going with?"  


    "Yes... uh... with... with... friends..."  


    I'm talking nonsense. Will anyone believe me if I say that?  


    "Oh? Is that so?"  


    The class monitor didn't seem interested. She held out the tickets.  


    "Then please take it."  


    "Hey... is that okay?"  


    "Sure."  


    "Um, money..."  


    "No need, it's free."  


    How straightforward. Listening from the side, I wondered, "Is this some kind of 

conspiracy?" But it really seemed free; no money was being asked.  


    "Well, we can't ask anyone other than Natsuru for money."  


    "We can't burden our classmates."  


    The vice -class monitor and the accountant also accepted this and returned to their seats. 

Hey, so I'm not your classmate.  


    Akane smiled weakly at me after receiving the tickets. Oh, you're going there?  


    Well, that's fine. I'm interested there too. Last time I went to the spa in front of the station, 

I couldn't soak in the hot springs because of Kondou Mikoto. This time, it seems I can really 

enjoy it.  


    As I thought about this, I put the stationery on the desk into my bag.  


    The exams were over, and I wanted to say goodbye to the school, but I headed to the 

cafeteria instead.  


    I wanted to eat something, but when I got home, all I could find was curry. It's at this point 

that I truly understand the pain of living alone.  


    Even though the exams were over, the cafeteria was still quite crowded. No, it was because 

they were just over. There were lots of students chatting in groups of three or five. This kind 

of thing is common in the girls' division, but in the boys' divis ion, there wasn't a place for it 

even if I wanted to. The cafeteria was so gloomy.  


    I only bought a drink and a sandwich and sat down in the corner. I was wary of any fans 

coming, but thankfully, they weren't. Later, I heard they had an agreement: "Don't bother 

Natsuru -san before and after the exams." Instead, the number of people sec retly filming me 

has increased significantly. They seem to be using cameras with lenses like pipes, snapping 

away from a distance.  


    The sandwiches were the kind with thin ham inside, and they weren't bad. It's the boys' 

cafeteria that's so scary. A bowl of pork cutlet rice almost caused a bloody incident there, but 

lately, it's been completely deserted.  


    "Na... Natsuru -san,"  


    I thought, "who else?" It turned out to be Akane, holding a tray. Oh? You're coming here 

too. 


    She bought an iced tea.  


    "Can I sit down...?"  


    "Yes."  


    Akane sat down right across from me. It seemed like this happened quite often.  


    She sipped her iced tea, I ate my sandwich, and we chatted for a while.  


    "Excuse me..."  


    Akane said.  


    "Hey, what?"  


    "Um, about the tickets... I might have been unnecessary..."  


    "No, that's not the case."  


    Talking to that trio was exhausting. They weren't mean girls, but their emotions were so 

unique.  


    "I really want to go with Natsuru -san. Since I invited them, I thought I should also prepare 

the tickets..."  


    Hmm... so kind. Not even I, let alone Higashida, would be so meticulous. Everyone should 

just prepare their own tickets. Those who didn't get any would just start cursing.  


    "But now we've decided where we're going out together."  


    Her face lit up. Lately, Akane always seems to be in a good mood at the last minute. Is 

there some spiritual support? Is it religion?  


    "When's a good date...?"  


    "Hmm... a sunny day would be best."  


    After all, we're going to the pool.  


    "That's right."  


    "And we need to buy a swimsuit. I only have the ones I wear at school."

    I can't ask someone else to help me with swimsuit shopping. I'm not very good with 

clothes, so having someone to give me advice on clothes is a huge help. From that 

perspective, I'd like her to go with me, but swimsuits are different, after all.  


    Akane sighed, "Ah..." and lowered her head. Should I say she was disappointed, or was the 

atmosphere just as I expected?

    She checked the calendar in her student handbook, which was beautifully written. To me, 

my student handbook was just my ID, horribly wrinkled. One time, I forgot to take out the 

laundry.  


    "A day without huge crowds...that's impossible. At least pick a day without a typhoon..."  


    The date was set for two weeks from now. Akane made the decision, and I simply nodded.  


    "I'm really looking forward to it."  


    "Yeah."  


    You couldn't ask me to say, "Is that so?" Even though "yeah" was just a mechanical 

response.  


    Akane smiled, and I had already filled my stomach, so I smiled for now.  


    Suddenly, her expression darkened.  


    "What's wrong?"  


    "Ah..."  


    "Natsuru -san!"  


    Oh, it was the voice of an angel.  


    No need to ask who it was, it was, of course, my dream lover, Sakura Kaede.  


    "So you're here."  


    To avoid being out of place, I lowered my voice.  


    "Yeah..."  


    "Please let me come too."  


    She bowed to Akane and sat down. Oh, she's so well -mannered, so beautiful.  


    It was only for a moment, but Akane's face darkened. Hey, just sitting next to Sakura Kaede 

must be a blessing.  


    "The exam must be tough."  


    "Yeah..."  


    "I didn't study well enough, and I made a lot of mistakes. I have to work harder."  


    She laughed, "Hehe," and stuck out her tongue. Ah, so cute. This manga -like gesture is so 

fitting. What would cause a riot if any random girl did it, but when Sakura Kaede does it, it's 

incredibly comforting.  


    "If only I could study as well as Shizuku."  


    It's not that Sakura Kaede's grades are bad, but Shizuku is just too overwhelming. That 

woman effortlessly gets perfect scores. It's as if she can even answer difficult questions 

perfectly.  


    I say "as if" because it's just my imagination. A while ago, I asked her the secret to 

improving her grades, and her answer was,  


    "Hard work,"  


    which is boring, but it's the right thing to do. But I just want to work hard and do it 

effortlessly.  


    Sakura Kaede spoke to me with a broad smile.  


    "How's Natsuru -san?"  


    "Not bad..."  


    Akane suddenly said,  


    "Since you studied with me, Natsuru -san will do well."  


    Then she looked at Sakura Kaede, or rather, glared at her. What's your competitive streak?  


    "Oh, that's right,"  


    Sakura Kaede said, her tone also stiff.  


    "Then please invite me next time. I'd also like to review with Mishima -san and Natsuru -

san."  


    I'd welcome that, too. But Akane's face looked glum. Why?  


    Sakura Kaede smiled as usual. She always had that smile, and that's how we boys always 

felt. If I could have that smile all to myself, there would be nothing to complain about.  


    She was sipping hot cocoa. I wondered if it wouldn't be hot, but seeing how she looked like 

a baby, holding it in both hands, I thought it was okay.  


    "So, here's what I'm thinking,"  


    Sakura Kaede said.  


    "It's almost vacation time, and I was wondering if I could go somewhere with Natsuru -

san."  


    Oh, Sakura Kaede invited me too! So many invitations!  


    Of course I'd welcome it. Even if Sakura Kaede said, "Let's go to the coal mine a thousand 

meters underground. Natsuru -san doesn't have a mask or helmet," I wouldn't hesitate. The 

problem was, Sakura Kaede didn't seem interested in coal mines.  


    There was another problem: she invited me, a woman. This must be a serious issue.  


    And then there's the matter of Akane's expression changing.  


    "No, no way...!"  


    Akane's voice definitively denies it.  


    "Natsuru -san has something to do and needs to stay home, or something..."  


    "How would Mishima -san know that?"  


    Sakura Kaede asks after a pause.  


    "No... no reason, Natsuru -san is busy..."  


    "I'm just free at home, let's go out and play."  


    "I already said no...!"  


    I haven't even replied yet — 


    Akane denies everything Sakura Kaede says.  


    These two have had a bad relationship from the start. It's just my guess, but maybe Akane 

pales in comparison to Sakura Kaede's angelic personality. There's only one beautiful person 

like Sakura Kaede in the world; there's no need to confront her.  


    And there's no need to show off our contrasting personalities at a time like this. We need 

to find a way to mediate.  


    But the two of them keep going.  


    "No problem, Natsuru -san will definitely accept my invitation."  


    "Who decides things like that..."  


    "Beautiful people are always kind -hearted."  


    "You're so self -centered..."  


    Hey, stop arguing.  


    I don't know why I've been left alone. Because I'm a woman now, and in front of Sakura 

Kaede, I can't talk much either.  


    Akane suddenly said,  


    "N-Natsuru -san... want to go out with me...!"  


    Sakura Kaede was stunned for a moment, but quickly said,  


    "When was that decided?"  


    "It was decided a long time ago... It's common sense."  


    "I've never heard of such common sense. In that case, it's okay for you to go out with me."  


    "No, Natsuru -san's already booked...!"

    I said, careful not to make my original sound.  


    "Sakura Kaede... what about Natsuru -san?"

    "Invite Natsuru -san..."  


    Sakura Kaede looked surprised. That was a real clue. Akane and I already had an 

appointment and were busy, so I could just invite the man. What a perfect plan. I'll have as 

much free time as I need, and if I need money, I can work part -time or do anyth ing else.  


    But Sakura Kaede looked a little displeased.

    "He's not a bad person, but we were just in the same junior high school, and there's no 

deeper relationship."

    Sakura Kaede's voice softened.

    "She should still have time to go out with me."  


    I was speechless, or rather, Akane answered for me.  


    "I think you should wait until next time..."  


    "...Mishima -san, do you think I'm a bother?"  


    "I wouldn't say that... but I already have tickets... for the theme park."  


    "Natsuru -san wouldn't go to such a childish place. She's a mature woman."  


    "She'll go. She even said she wants to buy a swimsuit. She's very excited..."  


    "Very" doesn't seem quite right.  


    Sakura Kaede's beautiful face froze a bit. Ah, is this my fault? It's all my fault for suggesting 

she invite a guy like me.  


    The silence didn't last long.  


    "...I understand,"  


    Sakura Kaede stood up.  


    "I'll take my leave today. I'll invite you next time."  


    Then, with a bow of her head, she left.

    it wasn't me who sighed, but Akane.  


    "Finally leaving..."  


    It wouldn't matter if she stayed a little longer. But I was also disappointed. I couldn't leave 

Sakura Kaede in this atmosphere.  


    Akane said cautiously,  


    "I think Natsuru -san... and I... should go out... just on a date. Not Sakura Kaede..."  


    But as a guy, I want to go out with Sakura Kaede.  


    It's only natural. I know it's impossible to get a chance just by suggesting that. Someone as 

unpopular as me isn't even allowed to dream.  


    "I-I can't be Sakura Kaede's substitute, but I'll definitely do my best..."  


    It sounded like a dispute between dance partners.  


    "So, if Natsuru -san is happy, that's fine..."

    Just a thank you. I fully understand her concern for me.  


    But since Sakura Kaede has rejected me, it seems I need some time to cool down. 

Although I haven't warmed up yet,  


    Akane looked at me with a complicated expression.  


    Kondou Mikoto was planning to go home. Her grades weren't bad, but she didn't like 

exams. She'd rush back home after each one. While she enjoyed exploring and unusual 

crafts, she was no different from any other high school student.  


    The reason she'd lingered around the school today was because she saw Natsuru.  


    Natsuru seemed to be taking her exams in a female form, strolling leisurely around the 

campus, looking a bit less energetic.  


    This childhood friend had been so dazed that he hadn't noticed me. I figured I'd give him a 

scare, so I quietly followed him. He walked into the cafeteria, apparently to eat.  


    "I made curry at your house, and you're not going to eat it?" An indignant Kondou Mikoto 

entered the cafeteria a little later, intending to catch him eating and lecture him, "Eat my 

curry!"  


    Then she saw Akane sitting at Natsuru's table. Oh no, she looked back and saw Sakura 

Kaede had arrived too.  


    Seeing her childhood friend so popular, Kondou Mikoto was furious. She thought, "If that's 

the case, I'll just sit next to him."  


    Someone tapped her shoulder.  


    Standing behind her was Shizuku, skillfully holding her shoulders down, preventing her 

from moving.  


    "President..."  


    "We've been seeing each other a lot lately,"  


    Kondou Mikoto replied. "That's my line, isn't it?" She was truly an elusive woman.  


    Shizuku also looked at the corner of the cafeteria.  


    "Where are Natsuru -san and Mishima -san?"  


    "That idiot is always laughing. If he's going to laugh, he should have been laughing at me!"  


    "Calm down."  


    "Sakura Kaede is here too. That guy's obviously only interested in the female Natsuru."  


    "Let's put Kaede's preferences aside, now's a good opportunity."  


    "What? Beat Natsuru up?"  


    "How could that be?"  


    Shizuku said to Kondou Mikoto, her tone unyielding. "Let's go out," she said, her tone 

unyielding.  


    The two leaned against the cafeteria's outer wall.  


    "...President..."  


    "What's going on?"  


    "Why are you stopping me?"  


    "Oh, did I stop you?"  


    Her expression remained as calm as ever. It seemed to be saying "I'm very interested in 

why you think that way."  


    "You do. I wanted to ask Natsuru just now, 'Do you hate my curry that much!?'"  


    "It's not that I hate it, I might just be tired of it."  


    "How can a Japanese person get tired of curry!"  


    "Kondou Mikoto -san is too extreme, and even if you questioned the curry, the topic would 

have been ended right away."  


    "Huh? What did you say? Even though it was ended right there, there's no point in not 

talking about it."  


    It was really strange. Kondou Mikoto spoke out the doubts in her heart. Her emotional 

circuits were almost all in a straight line. If she didn't execute something she thought of 

immediately, she would feel unbearable.  


    "Kondou Mikoto -san,"  


    Shizuku said in a tone of reminding her juniors (which was actually true).  


    "Didn't you say before that Natsuru -san might be going on a date with Mishima -san?"  


    "Well, President, you're suspicious too, aren't you?"  


    "That doesn't sound nice."  


    "But you are."  


    "I don't deny it, so we need to wait here,"  


    Shizuku said.  


    Kondou Mikoto couldn't understand. It seemed Shizuku had her own ideas. It was then 

that she could truly experience Natsuru's almost catchphrase, "The President is a formidable 

conspirator."  


    She didn't spend long leaning against the wall.  


    A girl emerged from the cafeteria, and the instant she realized it, Shizuku sprang out.  


    "Ah, Kaede."  


    "Shizuku."  


    What? Sakura Kaede? Kondou Mikoto muttered to herself. She'd thought it was Natsuru 

who had come out.  


    The two chatted about trivial, everyday topics —but just then, she realized it wasn't. 

Shizuku glanced inside the cafeteria.  


    "I glanced, and it seems Natsuru -san is in there."  


    "Yes... huh? Shizuku didn't go in?"  


    "Yes,"  


    she replied flatly. "Hey, you're lying," Kondou Mikoto muttered.  


    "I'm not so tactless as to affect you and Natsuru -san."  


    "Hate... You make it sound like my relationship with Natsuru -san is dangerous."  


    Kaede blushed. It was dangerous enough, wasn't it? Kondou Mikoto thought.  


    "But it was Shizuku who asked me to come to the cafeteria. I can just go in."  


    Shizuku smiled but didn't answer, instead talking about something else.  


    "Mishima -san is here too, right?"  


    "Hmm... Shizuku really knows everything."  


    "Did they say where they were going?"  


    "Yes. Just like Shizuku told me, Mishima -san is planning to go out with Natsuru -san. I was 

shocked. When did they become so close?"  


    "Where are they going?"  


    "I don't know... but they said they have money. And... swimsuits and stuff..."  


    "Really?"  


    Shizuku's tone changed from questioning to understanding. It seems that the information 

collection is complete. She probably already has the answer in her mind.  


    Kondou Mikoto, who was listening on the side, couldn't help but sigh. This woman was 

supposed to be Kaede's best friend, but she was being used as a source of information 

without hesitation. The cafeteria staff, too, were more like dispatched than summ oned. It 

was truly terrifying to be able to go this far.  


    Of course, Kaede hadn't noticed this at all.  


    "Could she have seen Natsuru -san in a swimsuit? Ah, I'm so envious."  


    "...Kaede, are you coming too?"  


    "Huh? Where?"  


    "The theme park? Isn't there a place you can go in swimsuits? Kondou Mikoto -san and I 

are planning to go there."  


    "Really?"  


    Kaede said. Kondou Mikoto was also thinking, "Is that so?" Shizuku spoke calmly, as if she 

had already decided. Should I say she's quite steady, possessing the talent of a con artist?  


    "Kaede, come too."  


    "I'd like to go, but..."  


    "Natsuru -san will definitely be coming too."  


    "Really?!"  


    Kaede asked in surprise. Kondou Mikoto was just as surprised. Shizuku continued.  


    "We were supposed to meet up there, it's already been agreed upon."  


    "What? I shouldn't have said those things to Mishima -san. I was going to apologize... 

Thank you for asking me, Shizuku."  


    "You're welcome."  


    "But why did you ask me too?"  


    "This is to make up for it,"  


    Shizuku said.  


    "I told you to come to the cafeteria, but you left me alone."  


    She said it as if it were all accidental.  


    Back home, I immersed myself in the comedy show I'd recorded and overseas soccer —my 

little hobbies. In this turbulent life, these were the only things that could bring me peace of 

mind.  


    By the time I finished watching, my stomach had already digested the sandwich, and I was 

hungry, so I had dinner.  


    It was curry again. Kondou Mikoto hadn't made it in the past few days, but I still hadn't 

finished it. I've been seriously considering buying another refrigerator.  


    I microwaved the frozen curry, simmered it, poured it over the rice, and quickly devoured 

it. It was the work of a monk, even a curry lover would lament.  


    Then I recounted what had happened today. To whom? To the Seppuku Tiger.  


    It's okay not to talk, actually. But sometimes I feel like I just want someone to talk to. 

Praying at a shrine with your hands clasped together is essentially the same thing.  


    "Oh~"  


    The Seppuku Tiger still has that usual Shizuku voice. Doesn't it sometimes use a Kuseki 

sound?  


    "So it's Mishima -san we're going out together?"  


    "I guess so."  


    "That's great, go ahead."  


    "You really don't care."  


    "It's really none of your business."

    "It's just the two of you."  


    "Who knew?"
