Volume 10, Chapter 4  

    I returned to the Sakura residence through the back door and flicked on every light in the 

room. It was dark outside, but that was only natural. This is a villa, so the chandeliers are 

outside.  


    When will we have dinner? It might be a while yet. Anyway, let's go back to my room. On 

the way upstairs, I recalled my conversation with Mikoto on the marble and felt a little 

nervous. I hadn't felt it at all during the conversation, but now my heart was pounding and 

my hands were sweating.  


    Even in kindergarten, she'd always had a strong sense of adventure, treating her bed like a 

ship sailing across the Pacific. Ever since then, I've always imagined she'd venture abroad and 

marry a Bolivian alpaca (the model for the mythical beast, the m ud horse). No human man 

would have the energy to go along with her.  


    And then she confessed to me, like a real woman. After this, I was a bit distracted.  


    What was I going to do with dinner after this? I was sure she'd see me, right? Leaving the 

table wasn't an option, so I might as well eat in my own room.  


    As I was pondering this, Shizuku approached.  


    "Ah, where have you been?"  


    "Sunset,"  


    he answered honestly. You can't lie to this woman, she can see through everything. At the 

activity budget meeting of all departments, the accountant had tried to cover up the past 

with a serious face as if there were no funds. But this lie never worked . Rather than the 

contradictions in the data, she seemed to be able to tell whether it was a lie just by listening 

to the reporter's words.  


    "Natsuru, are you interested in watching the sunset?"  


    "It's not because of this."  


    "Weren't you with someone at that time?"  


    "..." 


    "You guessed it right. I really want to know what happened there."  


    Her eyes were cold. Why do you know everything about me?  


    She immediately retracted her gaze.  


    "Well, forget it now. Let's talk about it later."

    "Shizuku"

introducing her parents to me just to get me married?  


    "Did you see Kaede's parents while you were staying here?"

    "Have you seen them worried?"  


    "No...wait, are they nowhere to be found?"  


    "That's right,"  


    Shizuku said  


    . "If they were, we should have met soon. But now I haven't heard them talking and she 

hasn't worried, so I think she's not here."  


    "Maybe she's out..."  


    "I checked the room, and there's no key nearby."  


    So, Shizuku, what are you observing in this house?  


    But what's the point of my parents not being here? Isn't this my hometown? But Sakura

    That woman was saying such disturbing things again. I finally had a chance to be happy at 

Sakura's hometown, and now she's doing something so disturbing.  


    Anyway, Mikoto hasn't arrived yet. Could that guy have collapsed in the garden?  


    Just as I was about to go check, footsteps came on the stairs.  


    Seeing Mikoto there, I felt a little relieved.  


    "Hey, Mikoto, what have you been up to?"  


    But she just walked right past me.  


    "Mikoto," she said  


    , and then she went into her room. Lately, she's been shutting herself in her room, refusing 

to come out even when I called. Is she playing games?  


    Whatever, there's something about Mikoto's face that seems a little stiff. Not stiff, but 

perhaps something's bothering her?  


    Anyway, I'll stay in my room until dinner too. From an outsider's perspective, we look like

room.  


    It was almost time for dinner, and Sakura came to everyone's room, calling them, "Dinner's 

time." It was so thoughtful of him to do this when he could have just called.  


    I opened the door and saw Shizuku and Mikoto heading downstairs, so I followed them.  


    We ate downstairs, on a wooden table and chairs, knives and forks placed side by side.  


    "If you want chopsticks, feel free to ask,"  


    Sakura said, and of course, I said, "Yes, I do." When you think of spoons, you're bound to 

think of curry. Like Pavlov's theorem,  


    I immediately sat down. The seat was quite comfortable. Shizuku didn't sit down, looking 

at the table with a troubled expression.  


    Then she whispered in my ear,  


    "Let's not separate."  


    "What are you talking about?" I answered her matter -of-factly. It's true, though, that 

Sakura's parents' tableware hasn't been put up.  


    But, what can I say? Maybe they're eating in another room; that's still an unknown.  


    Akane brought a large plate of chicken from the kitchen. It smelled delicious.  


    "There's a lot of meat, so I made a lot."  


    The chicken was placed on the table. Akane and Sakura are both excellent cooks; it must 

be delicious.  


    Then came bread, miso soup, and onions. Everyone was seated. Sure enough, Sakura's 

parents weren't coming.  


    Dinner began. I picked up a piece of chicken with my chopsticks and took a bite. It was 

indeed delicious. I couldn't tell if Akane or Sakura had prepared it.  


    "Mishima -san's flavoring was done,"  


    Sakura explained.  


    "I'm not very good at seasoning meat, so you really helped."  


    "This is my mom's way. I don't know how it works yet,"  


    Akane said. She was really happy to be praised.  


    "It's delicious."  


    Shizuku also ate a piece of chicken like me, but used a fork.  


    "Let me help with breakfast. Akane is working too hard alone." "That's  


    a big help."  


    "Well, what should I do?"  


    Anyway, let's put it this way, I'm the only one who's not helping here.  


    Shizuku turned her gaze towards me .  


    "Natsuru, what can you cook?"

    Sakura laughed there.  


    "Natsuru -kun and Shizuku -chan are really close."

    Wow, to be able to make this world -class student council president happy, I must be a man 

among men, right? ... It was impossible to think that way.  


    I don't know why this woman is always so confident. Even though I hadn't responded to 

her confession yet, she acted as if it was impossible to say no. At that moment, Akane's face 

seemed to turn pale.  


    The dining table was arranged in a "dan" shape, with Akane sitting to my right and Mikoto 

to my left. There seemed to be Chinese food in the middle, but unfortunately, it was out of 

reach.  


    Akane's gaze drifted towards me, and  


    just as I was wondering what was going on, she forked a piece of chicken.  


    "Here, Natsuru -san, please —ah—" 


    What's that sudden?  


    "—ah—" 


    "Why…?"  


    "Didn't Shizuku -san do that when we were eating our bento? So I  


    should do the same..." Isn't it okay if I don't do that at all?  


    The food on her fork jiggled up and down. Was it because she was nervous? Think about 

how Akane said it was her first time when we were kissing, so maybe that's why she's so 

nervous?  


    Sakura's mouth dropped open. "Wow."  


    "Shizuku -chan, Shizuku -chan, Mishima -san is doing that."  


    "I'm doing it too."

    "Maybe I'll steal Natsuru -san away."  


    "I'll just get her back."  


    What kind of fin -de-since fantasy? It didn't seem like Shizuku had given up. Since becoming

    I couldn't handle it anymore. The food in front of me moved closer, as if saying, "Come and 

eat!" Akane's eyes were terrifying.

    Akane and I were both surprised. Of course, Shizuku, as Kämpfer, uses her dagger as her

    Sakura didn't react to this, but after a moment's thought, he suddenly laughed. This wasn't 

evil, but just his usual self.  


    "But Shizuku -chan isn't jealous, which is remarkable."  


    "Not remarkable."  


    "Natsuru -kun, it's rare for Shizuku -chan to do something girlish like this. You're her 

boyfriend, after all."  


    Don't say such cruel things so casually. Although I don't think she's a girl.  


    It's surprising that a woman like Shizuku, who doesn't easily show her emotions, would do 

something human. But the fact that she could so casually say "jealousy" still felt artificial.  


    "Natsuru -kun, please make Shizuku -chan a little more jealous."  


    If she did that, I seriously thought I was in danger of death.  


    Sakura looked genuinely happy. Could this be another side of Shizuku's childhood 

sweetheart?  


    Indeed, I don't think Shizuku would be jealous. She doesn't seem like the type to show her 

true feelings. I've never seen her smile like this before. Although the boys' and girls' divisions 

are separated, even during the school -wide meetings, I barely noticed her facial expressions 

changing. It seems like no matter what happens, her expression remains the same.  


    In stark contrast to Shizuku is Mikoto, who's either laughing or causing a commotion. In 

short, she's always chatty and immature. But now, for some reason, she doesn't laugh much 

anymore. I don't know what's going on.  


    Beneath her skin is naturally delicate, and her nerves are easily irritated. The weak -looking 

girl with glasses, whose eyes can sometimes be quite scary  


    . Sakura is the gentlest of them all, probably.  


    "Shizuku -chan is always very serious, so I was wondering if she might be jealous."  


    "Seriousness and jealousy don't have anything to do with each other, right?"  


    "But things like that, and your smile, only happen when we're doing Rakugo."  


    "Because right now, it's about someone important to me."  


    "Because I'm dating Natsuru -kun and the others."  


    "So what?"  


    Sakura bowed her head towards us.  


    "Please continue to take care of Shizuku -chan from now on."  


    No, it's more like I want to take care of Sakura now.  


    She raised her head.  


    "I've always thought Shizuku -chan was a very serious person. I've always wondered what 

to do, whether she's doing well."  


    "But... stop joking, President... Shizuku -chan has always been loved by the teachers, hasn't 

she?"  


    It was Akane who spoke. Anyway, why did the topic turn to school?

    Sakura was now talking about student council matters. We had tried to do it, but we failed

look that said, "Are you asking right here?" while Shizuku gave me a look that said, "You

    Sakura's attitude was very normal

nervous, so please feel free."  


    "At home?"

    Sakura pointed to the room next door. Could it be Sakura's own room?

    Shizuku said.

    Mikoto said softly, but thankfully, Shizuku didn't hear.

something happens, loves to mess things up, and prefers the jungle to flat land.

    Mikoto smiled, sipping her coffee. Her eyes seemed to have lost some of their spirit.

sugar and milk start to drip down my mouth?

    "I just wanted to see the president's jealousy that Sakura was talking about."

Mikoto's mouth.
